Silver Coin Diner

Reviewed By poppy101248 - Collingswood, NJ

The wife and I took a morning trip down the White Horse Pike to Ocean City, NJ two weeks ago and decided to stop along the way when we got hungry. We spotted the Silver Coin Diner in Hammonton, NJ and rolled in to grab some breakfast. The service was cordial and professional, the coffee was hot and served quickly, the diner was very clean, and the food was delicious. Being adventuresome, I opted for the Chorizo Benedict, while the wife went with the usual Pancakes. Both were hot and tasty, and the Benedict was a nice change from the normal Bacon and Eggs. We are looking forward to the next time we visit Hammonton!

We stopped in for dinner...that's right...dinner, at a custard stand!!! They have the best cheese steaks anywhere between Philadelphia and Atlantic City. They are packed with meat and cheese. They come on a sesame seed roll. Just wonderful. Oh, and I should mention dessert: Best house made hard and soft ice cream...bar none. A small, seasonal, family owned and operated establishment that is the best around. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. We drive 30 miles just to eat and get ice cream there. I HIGHLY recommend.

This coffee bar is a cute place to enjoy a small snack and/or beverage. They have freshly brewed coffee all day in addition to other specialty drinks, a fine selection of teas and other beverages. They have a generous selection of bakery items or if your hungry you can grab a fresh sandwich or salad. They even have soup! I visit frequently and love their flavored coffee. The usual barista that I see is Tracy and its always a pleasure. The coffee bar has plenty of seating in both the front and back of the building. The back is quiet and a great place to sit and read a book.

This is one of the best kept secrets in town. They cafe its right on Bellevue Ave (Rt54, 12th street. 206) in the heart of town. The breakfast food is very good, I would go as far as saying they have the best pancakes I have had in NJ. The staff is outstanding, by the 3rd time you visit they will know your face and your order. I would recommend you stop in one morning and try them out yourself.

Red Barn Cafe & Pie Shop

Reviewed By Robin D

My husband and I are always looking for new breakfast and brunch spots since that seems to fit our schedules best and we try to support small businesses as much as possible. We were excited to find this place and knew we'd take a pie home too!

There is indoor and outdoor seating and we opted to sit inside since it was really hot out. You get to walk past the daily pie selection to your table and they looked amazing!

I ordered a quiche and my husband ordered a frittata. I wouldn't say the quiche was bad, but it was a crustless quiche and was not a light and fluffy custard. I could've done without the pile of grilled vegetables on top. My husband's frittata was a bit messy and also had grilled vegetables piled on but at least they're not stingy with the food. The potatoes were fantastic though!

You can see just the 1-2 people cooking in the kitchen and making everything by hand, so don't expect fast service but it's nice knowing everything is fresh.

They gave us a sample of a peach ricotta pie that my husband liked but I didn't care for. We got an apple and peach crumble to go and it was really delicious!

The food was decent but the pie was great!

Annata Wine Bar

The little wine bar has a warm, intimate relaxed setting reminiscent of a restaurant in Europe. Wine less as expected is extensive featuring wines from many countries as well as from local wineries. Restaurant offers small and large plates priced accordingly.
The restaurant serves lunch and dinner. There were four of us one of whom had wine with which she was very pleased -- a merlot. We all had different items ranging from porkloin, to ahi tuna, crab cake and soft shell crab. We all enjoyed our entrees. The cheeseboard was excellent as was the bread which was soft, warm and literally melt in your mouth. Very nice venue and lovely food with attentive, friendly service.

Maplewood I

Reviewed By GreenUnicorn - Southern NJ

We needed a place for dinner after visiting one of our businesses. Years ago we went to the Maplewood that was in Atco. Since I was craving a steak, we decided to head to the Maplewood in Hammonton, and about two weeks later, we were back for a second visit.

Prices for our cocktails, a Manhattan and a Margarita, were very reasonable. Given the pour of the wine, a glass of wine was not a particularly good value. However, a bottle of Cavit Pinot Grigio was a very reasonable $21.00. We might consider that another time.

We had no idea of the volume of food we would receive, so we ordered the mussels with red sauce, which was absolutely delicious and had just enough of a kick. A generous portion of good-sized mussels.

A loaf of white bread that was not worth eating and some pieces of garlic bread come withe the dinner. A bowl of the house salad is brought to the table to be split amongst everyone. The salad had a delicious light house dressing, and the sweet peppers really gave the salad a great flavor.

My 12 ounce steak from the specials menu was cooked medium rare as ordered. I had them put the onions and mushrooms on the side. Glad I did, as they would have overpowered the steak. My husband had a delicious chicken dish with peppers, spinach and cheese. Half of it went home! For our second dinner, my husband got the broiled salmon over regular spinach. My broiled scallops were high quality but a bit pricey at $27.99. Broccoli was nothing special, but the spinach with the garlic was great! Also I favored a regular baked potato over the baked sweet potato.

Overall, service was good both nights. The second time our server brought only our spinach, not our baked potatoes for take-home. She had the kitchen make us two new baked potatoes. Maplewood' does not have fantastic food, but it is a solid place to go for dinner now and again.

So nice to see a locally owned restaurant serve food that comes from really high quality ingredients. We went to the Funky cow and got soup, a sandwich (served with a delicious waffle as the bread), coffee, and frozen yogurt.

The food was excellent.

Highly recommended.

Rocco's Town House

Everyone Meets at The Town House Years ago townspeople would meet in taverns to discuss and debate the issues of the day. They would often refer to their local taverns as the 'town house' (a precursor to the town hall). In 1949 this tavern opened as The Town House and has continued to provide the people of this town a place to gather, to eat, to drink and still discuss the important issues of the day.

We were in the Hammonton area and looking for a place to have dinner. I looked on Trip Advisor and found Rocco's. Thank goodness! This place is wonderful! We had house made Sangria and a featured cocktail. Both were excellent. Then the deviled eggs, which were very good. A house salad that was just perfect! The mussels bowl was to die for and the white chicken parmesan was wonderful. We ended with house baked pumpkin pie that was delicious. Our server, Mike, was wonderful! Very attentive and patient and answered our many questions. Turns out the place has been in business for more than 30 years and just added a music venue in the basement! Not only was the entire experience outstanding, the prices were very reasonable to boot! I HIGHLY recommend.

Fiesta Mexicana

Reviewed By ramsey48 - Mount Laurel, NJ

My wife and I stopped here for dinner before a meeting she needed to preside at.
It serves very good Mexican food with a good selection of Mexican beers and sodas. I had camarones a la diablia which came with rice and a small salad. I found the generous portion of small shrimp spicy but not too spicy for me. My wife had a mixed seafood meal which included fish, crab, scallops, mussels and shrimp along with rice. Both dishes were quite good. The entrees are very reasonably priced around $15 with some beers priced at 3.45. Excellent value for the quality of the food.
