The outdoor atmosphere is very unique and was lovely on the evening we chose to eat at this interesting restaurant. Several of us chose the 8 oz sirloin which was cooked to perfection. There were very different and tasty side choices like grilled eggplant, sauteed zucchini, sweet potatoes and onions, and pecan sweet potatoes. There was a pork loin offering and the ribs were also delicious.

Don’t let the hordes of people waiting outside deter you. Get on the list, and prepare yourself for breakfast bliss! The line moves quick. Nothing fancy about it, just dang good breakfast/brunch and excellent coffee. The omelettes are as generous as they are delicious!

This local deli was our first vacation stop on our way to hike Flatiron. It is in an older mall but well signed. Since it is popular with local residents who call in their orders, we waited a few minutes for our order. It is worth it if you love meat, inches of meat. The sandwich is the focus here – the accompanying bag of chips is small but the sandwiches are enormous.

Hackers Grill

Reviewed By kmesaaz - Mesa, AZ

To begin, this place is a little out of the way, in back of a fading strip mall, if you could call it that. However, this is Apache Junction, a funky little town that is experiencing change. Winter visitors who I had just met recommended Hackers; they raved over the breakfast they had.I guess I should have had the breakfast, which they do serve all day. The place was packed! Sign in when you arrive, find a place to sit or stand, and watch the food go by. I should have watched. It's hard to describe the atmosphere--people everywhere, little room to maneuver to and around the tables, a greeter who is the epitome of Apache Junction. The menu is at 4-5 pages and kind of makes you hungry just reading it. So many choices. But, I am not a foodie and decided to play it safe. I went with a Turkey sandwich which I could have made at home. Nothing special at all about it. Nothing tasty. The coke was $2.75 and kind of blah. My friend wasn't impressed, but she didn't complain, which is good becasue she is a foodie. I would return if I just wanted something quick to eat. I wouldn't return if I wanted a meal to relax and enjoy. Maybe going at a less crowded time would be a good idea.

We celebrated a backpacking trip here. Make reservations! Excellent dinner. I had the carne asada and it was so good! The steak was marinated and quite tender. Others had seafood enchiladas. Chips were freshly made and warm. Others enjoyed the margarita with cranberry and lime juice. Waitress was fantastic!

This small Chinese restaurant serves quality food. The dinner portions are huge. The atmosphere is not great, but that is not why we go there. Most of the time we dine in, but it does getting very busy particularly when winter visitors are here. Limited seating. They also seem to have a large number of carry out orders.

There's nothing fancy about Filly's. Outdoors on a warm Sunday afternoon it's a great place to be. There's no table service for drinks, you have to line up and order a bucket of mini beers or a pitcher of draft. You can get table service for food, and the wings are huge. The broasted chicken is also terrific! It's such a fun place to be, watching all then cowboys and wanna be cowboys ride up on their horses. You have to go once just for the great cow boy atmosphere.

We went for a late lunch when we hit town at 3:00. I had the traditional gyro which was great (onions a little too strong), but my husband ordered the souvlake, and it was overspiced and too salty. Took a while to get, but that also meant it was made fresh.

We were spending a few hours at the ghost town which, if you’re hungry, makes you sort of a captive audience as this is the only sit down restaurant. There is a nice deck with a stunning view of the Superstitious Mountains. Inside it’s styled like an old time western saloon with live music, great for tourists. We ordered salads for lunch (rather than steaks)—Chef and grilled chicken—and while delicious we found them over priced ($32 plus a tip for ice tea, bottled water, and two salads??)

Menu sounded good. We ordered. Waited and waited. And then they brought the food, which was not worth waiting for I'm sorry to say. Taco bowl ho hum. They only have iceberg lettuce here. French dip--where's the beef and where's the flavor? Brisket so fatty we finally got it written off our bill. Fried chicken. Exactly. Not breaded, just fried at high heat so it was dry. Canned green beans. This just is not good food. Might be good if you just escaped from the nursing home. They really encouraged us to come back with a bill write-off and a piece of pie, which was a nice try, but I'd prefer good food, wouldn't you?
