Fantastic, friendly staff. Enjoyed the atmosphere, lovely decor throughout. Booths for bigger parties, or quieter areas for couples, lovely benches outside for warmer days, The Dogs Head really caters for all. A fantastic addition to the town. Will definitely be back.

Came for an early dinner. Food was ok, we didn't expect any better than we got as all Greene King pubs serve similar standard food. The drinks are well priced, although two drinks were charged at one price and then an exactly same drink served by a different member of staff was charged at £1 more, a wee bit strange!! Staff were very friendly and efficient (well, apart from the blonde girl that overcharged for the drink!).

Popped in with friends for a quick bite to eat, wasnât overly busy considering we visited on a Sunday afternoon at 1pm, so we thought great, as we were quite hungry. Drinks ordered at the table, took around 10 minutes to arrive. On the drinks arrival our order was taken. 3 chicken burgers, easy right? 10 minutes later food arrives, that was quick! 3 roasts? Erm no, thatâs not us. 5 minutes later the server is back, 3 roasts? No still not us, we ordered 3 chicken burgers. Eventually someone else came over and apologised and said our food had been taken down wrong...3 turkey roasts is what sheâs thought we had ordered, and that our food is being cooked straight away and sorry for the confusion.... 35 minutes later our food turned up, quite a mediocre meal and probably wonât visit again Hi Benji2882, I'm really disappointed we've let you down and received this poor rating. Nice Art Deco pub for visit with family and grandchildren. Pub welcoming also they have external seating and a childrenâs play area. Met by a pleasant member of staff and seated quickly. Menu a selection of the normal pub grub and a few surprises with a separate childrenâs menu. The childrenâs meals come with a drink, main meal and ice cream as standard the were very good value and on the larger size. The main meals, sausages and mash with veg, ale pie with mash and nice mint mushy peas and healthy kick salad. These were all very tasty and well presented could not fault them. We had a starter of sharing plate and calamari which the waitress knew was to share but no plates brought to share hard when there small tomatoes and cucumber with dips. This was the only let down the only member of staff we could find was busy serving behind the bar extra staff appeared later.Dear derek61,Thank you for taking the time to review us. I'm glad to hear your found our pub welcoming, and enjoyed your visit.I can only apologise that the only member of staff that you could find was busy and no side plates where offered. We visited for their Friday âFish & Chipâ Special deal . A most excellent piece of Fish with Mushy Peas , chips and ( of course ) the optional Curry Sauce . Big thanks to your waitress Tanya , I had a âmedical problem â in the middle of my meal . Without fuss she gave me some water and extra paper tissues . Making me feel , at home , and reassuring me that my issue was not a problem . Real top class customer Service . THANKS !

My wife and I have eaten here several times, the owner Liz and her staff are warm, friendly, courteous and excel at their jobs.We've eaten several dishes and the standard of the food, cooking, and presentation is gourmet standard and we shall no doubt eat here many times again.

Meeting up with old friends is a great joy, we always meet at this venue.There were six of us for a lunch time meet up.The staff couldnât be faulted, very helpful and informative.I didnât want starters, but chose the Old Spot sausage with mash and onions and gravy, made from beef dripping. This was a great flavour every bit was eaten.Mt dessert was coffee (latte) and a mini dessert of salted caramel profiteroles. All was well presented.My friends choices were the liver and bacon, fish and chips and lasagna, dessert choices included, salted caramel brownie, winter berries mess (Eaton Mess) and creme brûlée.Everyone enjoyed their meals, we will meet up again same place in few months time.One thing to note. Arrived for Saturday and were not disappointed. Service excellent. Ordered the burger with delicious âdirtyâ fries; and the battered haddock with extra large chips. Both very tasty and good sized portions. Well recommended - only problem is car parking as small car park and half road/half pavement seemed the only other option!

I went for Sunday lunch. The location is fantastic and the restaurant is well designed with soft background music. We had the roast beef which was nice. The beef itself was cooked perfectly as requested and very tasty. The vegetables were very nice, maybe a few more on the plate would have been lovely. The price for a three course Sunday lunch was good value.
