It is the capital of the Rhodope regional unit. It was the administrative centre of the Rhodope-Evros super-prefecture until its abolition in 2010, by the Kallikratis Plan. The city is home to the Democritus University of Thrace, founded in 1973. Komotini is home to a sizeable Turkish-speaking Muslim minority.

Restaurant âO Farosâ is situated on the highest point of the seashore of Fanari over one romantic bay. This location permits a beautiful view to the open sea as well to all the west coast of the village where is located a small beach. The restaurant is furnished with white and light furniture which together with the very high cleanness create the feeling of vastness and freshness. It is typical Greek restaurant which offers a large number of fresh salads of course with different kinds of ouzo. The main courses include different kind of fresh fishes (Red mullet, Sea bream and Sea bass) and roasted meats. All the dishes are very tasteful and I recommend sincere to the gourmets to taste the cuisine of âO Farosâ. The prices are average â between 15-20 Euro per person for the full menu including alcohol drink, salad, appetizer (baked eggplants, fried zucchini) and main course.

Located in a special place between Vistonis lake and Thrace sea offers fresh fishes and seafood fried in good quality olive oil. Food is delicious, local wine very good and prices quite fair. The most delicious shrimps we tasted for many years.

Anatolia hotel restaurant offers a great experience in Komotini. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served with a combination of traditional dishes with a modern aspect. The great atmosphere of the hotel together with great service, make the choice of Anatolia hotel restaurant, value for money!!!

We eat few times here and every time we felt excellent. I am vegetarian and i found a lot of fresh and quality products here. One evening the owner told us how they produce them self organic vegetables and i am really appreciate this issue. My wife and our friends eat normal and they were also satisfied with food and beverages. I have to mention that restaurant is build in connection to the wine house and usually we buy few bottles for home. The atmosphere is nice,i like the wood and stone combination, kindly personal, i definitively recommend it.

To my mind, eating fish, seafood and the like ,is connected with the blue breeze of the seaside. Unfortunately ''ixthioskala'' bears the disadvantage of being in the middle of nowhere, too far from the sea! That aside, there is a decent attempt in the decor, and the general atmosphere is friendly and nice.There was a great variety in the menu, from which I would definitely reccomend the pasta-seafood various combinations. You can choose any 'kritharoto' or 'rizoto' if you are a pasta lover.The service was ok, but our table was near the restroom, from which there was a rather heavy smell of fresh deodorant coming out whenever the door opened.The prices were very reasonable, so I would reccomend it for a family with kids.

We find this restaurant with TripAdvisor. There wasn't English menu but the boss call the chief who is origins Turkish. He helped us about menu. And recommend us grilled calamari, prawns saganaki and grilled mushrooms. Calamari was perfect with lemon olive oil sauce and something with secret. Grilled mushroom was like so soft and delicious. I can highly recommend this Greek Tavern.

Quite a unique and very interesting concept for a restaurant. It is even a globally awarded concept for the design. Very pleasant atmosphere inside. An excellent value for money, no matter what you choose to eat, as it is aimed at younger ages. Located in the heart of the city, convenient to walk to from wherever you are. Kind and helpful staff. We were lucky to go on a day when it was full of graduates from the local university celebrating their graduation and the energy and feeling was unique. A definite "must-see" when in Komotini!

This place was hard to find but I'm so glad we didn't give up looking for it. The neighborhood wasn't very nice, but the restaurant was great and the atmosphere wonderful. We showed up earlier than most people do for dinner, but they catered to our early dinner needs and helped me to celebrate my birthday with our family and dear friends. The food was very fresh and homemade! Very quality! They take their business very seriously - we wish them the best!!

We were passing Komotini and we stop here. People are relaxed, very good food, service very good... a lot of recomandations. Water from the house... also desert.The price are very good.. a beer is 2e, fried calamari is 6e, red mullet 7e, atatas bravas 2e.The food is very good.
