Superb antipasti selection of meats and cheeses. This was followed by home made pasta with wild boar. Wonderful! All was washed down with house red and sparkling and still water. The dessert was a superb Grandmother’s Cake.A very enjoyable experience.

Osteria di Fonterutoli

Culinary tradition has always been very important in Fonterutoli as it expresses the culture of the Chianti Classico area. Marchesi Mazzei has opened the new “Osteria di Fonterutoli” in a completely restored old Tuscan country home overlooking the vineyar

The restaurant is just off 222, on the way to Siena. Fonterutoli is a very small town but the restaurant is high quality with a nice ambiance. All the food was excellent except for the endive, which was bad. Parking is readily available off the street.

The pizzas are really nice and tasty. Excellent value for money. Staff is friendly but maybe a bit slow with the service. If you are in the Siena area with car and don't want to drive in to the center of Siena, this is a good choice.

We loved this place: the food (original, good ingredients, well prepared), the service, very modest prices. We ate at the Mulino's restaurant the day before and Il Covo was better in every single aspect. The location in Tripadvisor is not correct however!!! This place is next to the Mulino di Quercegrossa, close to Siena

We were a group of 11 and sat on the enclosed porch section. Lovely meal and the wait staff was accommodating and helpful. We chose this place because we were staying rather close by but, having eaten there, would happily go back. I have read other reviews and don't understand ...everyone was very nice to us - we were clearly speaking English and were a mixed group of Americans, Swiss, German and Canadians. The chef spoke to me when I went to look at the kitchen (spectacular wood burning stove!). All in all a solid choice.

Failing to get in here on a Saturday made us think it might be special but basically everywhere, it turned out, is busy then. When we went midweek we were the only diners for a while. The menu is on the basic side and what we had was fine but not exciting. Rustic and tasty sums it up.

Bar Osteria Quercegrossa

I went there with some colleagues for a dinner and I found a very friendly and positive atmosphere. The menu is traditional Tuscan cuisine with variations from Basilicata. In fact, the starters include meats and vegetables typical of that region and it was an absolute discovery. I tasted a pasta dish called 'del colono' which is a secret recipe and tastes elegant as a 'carbonara' light with an exotic flavor. The meat dishes are exceptional for the quality of the meat. The desserts are homemade and very well kept. The price is absolutely competitive and popular, setting a value money more than positive.

Once you enter this little bottega, you feel a warm welcome of an almost 80 year old family-run restaurant...Set just next to the beautiful vineyards of the southern chianti classico area (Lornano) you will experience delicious food (all picks from the menu are great (we have been here twice for dinner; once for lunch, and were never disappointed ) and -of course- great wines (we took the house wine: the produce their own wine). Please do not forget order a dessert...they are soooooo good!!PS. if you have the time before sunset, have a walk around the area (go behind the restaurant to start the walk) through the vineyards (approx 3km walk)What a nice pleasure to read those kind words. As i said the first time that you came, For us and our job, there's nothing better of meeting people that understand what you are trying to do with you daily work. We all are so happy to have had tha chance to meet you and your nice family! I hope to see you next years!Say hello to your kids! have a nice dayLorenzo, Bottega di Lornano

Il Ciliegio Ristorante

Reviewed By beeeechbum

We stumbled upon il Ciliegio when looking for another agriturismo. It was about 2:30pm and we were worried that we wouldn't be able to find a place to eat, but the four of us were able to sit and eat. I believe that the whole meal was €26/person and included water, wine, meats & cheese, bread, pasta, meat and salad, and dessert along with after dinner coffee and liquers. My personal favorites were the pasta and the cheese and honey. The staff was also quite friendly, even though we just dropped in. I believe that there is also an a la carte menu, but this was perfect for us. I would definitely return if we were in the area again.

The quality of the food in Siena has been fantastic, but the standout restaurant for our visit was Trattoria La Porticina. An amazing indoor restaurant with brick vaulted ceilings, just off the side of Piazza II Campo. Their speciality is Game. We loved the home made pasta with duck sauce, the pheasant pie, which were both delicious and the venison carpaccio and Angus beef, both smoked with Cherrywood were equally delicious. This restaurant will be our first choice for our return trip to Siena. Thank you for a great evening.
