We had not booked but popped in here on Bank Holiday Sunday. It is a very spacious restaurant. We were shown to a table quickly and provided with menus. Our order was taken promptly and the main arrived equally quickly and all (4) agreed that they were very good. Decided to have a dessert, what a Menu!!!, There must have been nearly 20 to choose from. I changed my mind several time. Then they arrived they too were disgusting (ly) delicious.Great food great service great prices. What more do you want?

Well, that was a disaster. Things started OK. We ordered two flat whites, a slice of cake and a dessert. The waitress seemed nervous but she explained that it was her first day – fair enough. When the coffees arrived they were cappuccinos rather than flat whites but we didn’t make a fuss as the coffee was decent. The cake was good, too – but there was no dessert available so I just said to forget it – although I made a mental note, just in case it was added to our bill.We heard an older woman who was sat next to the bar – possibly the manager – say to the waitress that the coffee was served in the wrong cups. As I said, though, we let that go. When we went up to pay, sure enough we were charged for the missing dessert, so I politely asked that the bill be readjusted for this. At this point the Possible Manager intervened and told us that the young waitress was only fourteen and that it was her first day. We said OK and asked for the correct sum, but the waitress repeated the original, higher amount. I asked again for the correct amount – but it was then that the Possible Manger lost the plot. For some reason she turned on my wife – who hadn’t said anything at that point – and criticised my wife’s “attitude” and “body language”. We were stunned by this – a café manager handing out personal abuse and being verbally aggressive to customers who were a) trying to pay; b) being polite and reasonable; and c) letting go various minor problems (wrong coffee and items on the menu being unavailable). Of course, we challenged this behaviour while trying to laugh off the aggression. The Possible Manager then repeated her mantra about the waitress being only fourteen, so (although it was not us who brought up the age question) we asked if this was right, given that we had seen the teenager serving alcohol to other customers. The angry reply was that she was a family friend and that she was there on work experience. She was now so furious that she demanded that we leave the premises, but we refused to leave until we received our correct change (I had already handed the money over). We got the change and headed towards the door, although I made a few remarks about her the Possible Manager’s unprofessional attitude and abusive behaviour. For some weird reason, the Possible Manger made some bizarre remarks as she ushered us to the door. Earlier, we saw the staff struggling with a meal for other customers and heard the Possible Manager say, "It's all about the blag" - a remark that says a lot about the attitude towards customers at this café.

This is a breathe of fresh air, staff are friendly an professional and the food was superb. The salmon and beetroot starter was exceptional the chicken, blue cheese and ham was very good. The only issue is the lotion size, seemed to be for a family of three. Keep the quality, reduce the the potions.

It’s such a shame as the food was lovely. We arrived spot on our arrival time but had to wait downstairs for our table. On seating at our table it felt very cramped and uncomfortable. Looking around we realised that other parties of 6 had a 4 seater table and 2 seater pushed together to create a lovely spacious table... we had 2 x2 seater tables making it very tight fit. On reflection we feel the wait we had downstairs was probably while these 2 table were hurriedly arranged as there was no table for 6 available, which is what we had pre booked. We then had a long wait for starters which meant we couldn’t enjoy puddings and had to take them away our we would miss the show we were booked to see elsewhere. I repeat the food came out hot and was lovely but the cramped table and slow service for starters spoiled as we were stressed that we would be late.

We visited this restaurant as a group. Service was very efficient. The menu was good value with two courses costing £9.95 The portions were generous. Not CEO decor. Only complaint was the high salt content of some of the dishes. Well worth a visit.

Staying in Tynmouth for one night, reviews looked good , but OMG if this is the best god help the rest- what a shambles the service was, ordered pint Peroni & glass of cabernet sauvignon, what appeared was a pint of Peroni & a sauvignon blanc! starter fine, husbands main was ok nothing special, but my fetuchini with fillet steak, king prawns in a lobster bisque was minus the bisque (no response from chef when I queried the lack of) but they also brought a side of chips which we didn't order & sent back, need to up their game, was just a joke.Following our private conversation, I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience at a different restaurant in Tynemouth. As this is not a review for Davanti Classico, It would be really helpful if you could remove your comment from our page as this does affect our rating. I hope you choose to dine with us in the future, thank you.

Dined at this restaurant twice this year and enjoyed great food. The Early Bird Menu is superb value and is available until 6.30. The Penne al Salmone is very good. Save room for the sweet course as they are yummie. The service on my first visit was good, however on our latest visit there was only a waiter and waitress working and they were clearly under pressure which resulted in over a 2 hour visit. The beer barrel needed changing and they had neither the time or the knowlege to do it resulting in 7 guys without a drink for 20 minutes. bottles came to the rescue. If you have plenty of time give the food here a go. You wont be disappointed.

Giant Cornish pasty but....with tomato sauce in a dish on the side, lovely, I mean really lovely, simply the best! The food & service are both 5 star, it's a bit of a hidden gem, but shouldn't be, best Italian/Greek/Mediterranean in Whitley Bay.
