We were driving from Nairobi to Kisumu and planning to stop for the night along the way. The hotel we had pre-booked, site unseen, was a little more sketchy than we would have liked, so we continued our drive u til we stumbled upon the Alps. It was still under construction at the time, but very nice. Travel-weary and with two small children, we were hoping for anything better than our disappointing roadside lunch had been. The wait was long, as has been the case at every restaurant in Kenya, but the food more than rewarded our patience. My husband had the best butter chicken we've ever had. I had some exquisite vegetarian spinach-based dish, and my father-in-law had a wonderful fish curry. There were fishsticks and pizzas for the kids. We enjoyed every bite, so much so, that on our next family road trip through Nakuru, we planned to stop for lunch. They have since improved the hotel even further.

Nice location but music is too loud in the evening, not a good choice for business dinner. For a hang out the bar is perfect and staff members are very nice and welcoming..

The place has been taken over by the management of Alps Hotel. Magic Hour was formerly oyster shell then Jikonis. The new management has done an exceptional job on the ambience, cuisine and service.

Our driver recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed.Despite a quite unattractive entrance,we were welcomed by knowledgeable,friendly and helpful staff.And the restaurant serves alcohol No drink is as good as a cold beer with a good curry.We got some advice on choosing our dishes,taking one of the specials each,which white rice and naan,butter and hot turbo for me.I really enjoyed my main dish but the naan was the best I have ever eaten,including on trips to India and Sri Lanka Absolutely superb We paid a return visit during our short stay in Nakuru and were equally delighted.To Westerners the decor is a bit old fashioned,and the restaurant is unusually adjacent to a food court,but I strongly recommend for the quality and value of the food and the excellent customer service
