I suspect that it is aimed at conservative tourists, white/European expats and professional black Rwandans but I don't want that to sound like criticism. If you are a tourist and want a straightforward European meal, as you may well do at some stage, go here. I think there are at least two places calling themselves Java and we went to both. Service is quicker than in some other "more interesting" places and that is not to be sniffed at. Service was also very friendly, especially in the downstairs place that we went to. Food was good, whether western or more traditional Rwandan which is what I had for the dinner we had there. Sandwiches for lunch at the other outlet were also very edible. The actual Java House Kigali Heights has a fair view over the city, particularly the spectacular illumination of the convention centre at night. Wifi is available for those who want to write an instant Trip Advisor review!

We were tired from the long travel and looked for a good restaurant to have dinner and found this Bamboo Rooftop restaurant.The setting is nice and spacious.I'm probably exhausted I did not bother to see if the view outside was breathtaking being on the rooftop.We dined on Saturday evening and there's a live band playing.They serve good chinese dishes though I didn't like much the quality of the tofu.The serving size is more than enough for one person so be careful when ordering.

If you want to go our for lunch in Kigali during your lunch break and still make it back on time for an afternoon meeting, you are usually stuck with a buffet lunch, because service tends to be very slow. Turambe shoppe offers a refreshing alternative: healthy and delicious pre-packed salads and smoothies, that you can eat at the table or take home (or even have delivered to your home or office). This a fusion Korean African restaurant. I had a nice pineapple mandarin juice which was amazing, they put fruit in the ice cubes, as well as the lunch buffet which had a nice mix of African dishes, the beet salad, Rwandan beef stew and the ugali with sukuma wiki were both delicious. You finish it off with a fruit salad of tree tomato, passion fruit and pineapple and banana finely diced, very cool and refreshing. Mocha cafe isn't a regular coffee shop. It is the result of its owners travels around the world and their love for homemade food, hospitality, and pure coffee. From the interior design to the garden, and the presentation of the dishes -- every detail has been given the appropriate attention. Therefore, it's not a surprise that from the moment you enter Mocha Cafe, you feel at home. The service is excellent with all attendants being hard working and friendly. My favourite dishes are: vegan burger with homemade hummus, thin crust pizza, and avocado sandwich. For drinks, I recommend the mango smoothie, the peanut and banana smoothie, and the spiced Yemeni coffee.Mocha Cafe is an excellent spot for any kind of visit.
