Overall, this place has its charms but service is uneven (not rude, just forgot orders and slow).The chickpea stew is phenomenal and really memorable. I've never had more flavor in a vegetarian dish.The moussaka was completely forgettable on the other hand. It was served slightly lukewarm too. I wouldn't recommend it.The stewed vegetables wasn't very tasty either despite the menu description playing it up. I wouldn't recommend it.The "spaghetti" was good and an island specialty -- if you don't get it with meatballs or chili/parmessan then you're getting it the authentic way. It is a garlicly (light) noodle with some tomatoes. It was simplicity at its best.If you don't like cats, you shouldn't sit here cause they have a lot here they like to keep around.Wine by the glass is huge and a great value here.

If you are staying in Tholos definitely worth the walk up the hill, although they have a car park if you hire a car/bike or are further away.Very traditional Greek taverna set in the middle of a small hillside village with a large tree over-hanging the many wooden tables - they do have lots of wild cats in the village so not ideal for anyone cat-phobic!Food is excellent & not over-priced at all - we loved the cheese balls starter & the meat ball mains - service is friendly & efficient and the cooler walk back down the hill is a lot easier than the one up!

Having read several glowing reviews we were really looking forward to visiting this restaurant. However the reviews that we had read didn't seem to match the standard of food produced. We were expecting traditional home cooked Greek dishes but unfortunately that wasn't the case, what we actually had was very ordinary. The Prawn Saganaki starter which we ordered was luke warm and because of this the 2 small squares of Feta Cheese hadn't melted into the sauce. The grilled Octopus on the other hand was over cooked (charred) and the chips & salad did little to enhance the dish. The Chicken Ballotine was served with rice which needed more seasoning, as did the sauce that it was served with. The dish wasn't very pleasing to the eye either, with everything appearing 'beige'. The overall appearance of all the food served seemed to be rather amateur. My husband had considered a surprise present for me to the Cookery School, I am very pleased he didn't.Sorry you were disappointed with your meal. It always amazes me that when the waiter asks if everything is ok, you answer yes but then take the time to go and tell the world through Trip Advisor that you didn't enjoy it. You are given the chance to have your say when the waiter asks. How am i supposed to make it right for you if you don't say? There is salt and pepper on the table should you require further seasoning, i cook the food to suit a lot of different tastes, usually it is right but again you have the option to add more. The cabbage served with the chicken ballotine is very popular but unfortunately, not to your liking.Maybe it was a good thing you didn't come for a cooking lesson as I think your expectations would have been far too high. Throughout the Summer, i have had a lot of lovely genuine people in the restaurant AND the cooking school who have thoroughly enjoyed it.I would also like to add that chicken ballotine is actually a French dish and not traditionally Greek, so maybe your choice there was the wrong one? The shrimp saganaki ALWAYS has 4 blocks of feta so the other two must have melted into the sauce. Sorry you didn't like our chips and salad, most people do.Next time you go to a restaurant and the waiter asks you if everything is ok, please be honest at the time and tell him/ her if you are unhapoy with something then it can be put right for you and please don't just write it on Trip Advisor as by then it is too late for us to do anything at all.

Went for dinner one night as dinner in our hotel consisted of pork pork and more pork.Nice looking restaurant with lots of t.vs showing a variety of football games. Mostly a variety of fast foods ,orders taken quickly by pleasant staff, meals served smartly and tasted good .good selection of drinks as well Would I go back yes and would recommend

Plenty of food all freshly made in the open kitchen. Just when you think you have finished more food arrives and all for 12Euros. Local wines and friendly service all help with the atmosphere. Walk your meal off afterwards by walking up the hill to the beautiful church and village square.
