Ristorante Sant'Orso & Terrazza

Even during the late summer off-season, this hotel was full of couples and families. Nice, clean, comfortable and quiet rooms. The spa facilities are comforting after a day of hiking with pool, sauna and hot tub beckoning. The restaurant does a wonderful job with their pasta dishes with the wild boar ragu with paperadele especially noteworthy. Entrees are less consistent but the salmon was particularly good. Good food at a fair price, but not a special occasion facility.

Restaurants in the area tend to offer very traditional regional cuisine - here the young chef tries something a little different. Mind you, most products used are local and dishes are not outlandish, it's just that there is a bit more creativity, modernity and personality, which in my view is to be applauded.A vegetable tarte with courgette flowers came with a wonderful saffron sauce and was very pleasant (I just would have liked a bit more courgettes and courgette flavour in the tarte). Strozzapreti (sort of dumplings) were well-made and the sweet onion cream was excellent. A venison stew with polenta cream was perhaps a little mono-dimensional but certainly satisfying. The best dish of the evening was a delicate and perfectly cooked (steamed) local trout. Desserts were tasty and balanced (a 'crema di Cogne' and a yogurt mousse with wild berries), but they were the only two ones on offer - I think desserts are also about pastry work and texture, not just 'creamy stuff', and so perhaps a little more effort in this section could be hoped for in the future...(however the 'tegoline' -tuiles- with the mousse were good).Service was very pleasant in a quiet evening. The wine list could be improved and integrated but had some good choices. The room is great, and so is the mise en place. Prices are fair for the quality. All in all I had a very good dinner here, with carefully chosen ingredients of good quality and a skilled chef at the stoves. A few improvements here and there and this cute restaurant, still in its first year of life under the current management, could become a top one.

Les Pertzes

Ambience and setting were quite nice, traditional, though the table next to us had a very vocal baby…The food was generally good, with an absolutely unforgettable suckling pig--truly delicious.Other dishes were good--overall, the food sets a very high standard. What let's Les Pertzes down is the poor service. Food delivered haphazardly--we waited five minutes for the last person to have their main course served. The staff is slow to respond to requests--another bottle of wine, another bottle of water, etc could take 10 minutes or more and several reminders. One of the waitresses was borderline aggressive in clearing the table, demanding in a very pushy way that we pass her the plates, even after we asked her to just let us finish our coffee.Would go back for the food, perhaps once, to see if the service issues were taken care of.

Bellevue Restaurant

It is difficult to define one particular cuisine, certainly not with banal adjectives like good, tasty, creative, classic… Our cuisine follows the cadence of the season and uses the freshest produce cooked to order. The quality of our cuisine is evident i

Restaurant located in the Bellevue hotel, with very pleasant views of the mountains and relaxing ambiance (although the canned piano music was too loud). The cuisine, however, was nothing transcendant, with small portions and an expensive tab! The risotto was nothing to write home about, rather uninspiring, the pasta dish was tasty but I had the hardest time digesting it that night. In fact, out of everything we ordered, only the salad and the breads were really satisfactory...All in all, what made this experience pleasant was mostly the beautiful views. The cuisine was not worth the price!

La Cave de Cogne

The food was outstanding. Sabina, the owner, took care of every detail. My daughter needs gluten free and she and the cooks had many options including pasta. They also have a great wine selection and she walked me through many of the local offerings. There is a garden area out back for outside, mountain view, seating. From the front the cave looks like a small boutique store. Don't let this fool you. It is a hidden little gem with some of the best food, wine and service you will find.

Was expecting something refined and delicious, but, being French, I guess I expected too much. The service was pleasant, as well as the atmosphere. But the food is really mediocre: the green gnocchis with cream sauce were totally bland, and so dissapointing! The medecine salad had too much dressing, and the polenta was tasteless as well! All in all, a low quality diner at a rather high cost!
