Most Popular Contemporary food in Bucharest, Romania

Reviews on Contemporary food in Bucharest, Romania. Vlad the Impaler stated his claim to Bucharest in 1459. His citadel on the Dambovita was the first of flotillas of palaces, many of which still stand. Four subway lines and a modern bus network transport visitors and commuters. Nicknamed "Little Paris", Bucharest's elegant early 20th-century architecture shows French influences. Don't miss the Village Museum, Romanian Athenaeum and the Peasant Museum. You can't miss the Palace of Parliament, the second-largest building in the world (after the Pentagon).

We got this dinner complimentary as compensation for not getting the room upgrade for Ambassador members. However, we were not informed about what is included in our dinner. The food was okay but nothing more. My tomato mozzarella salad was quite tasteless and saltimbocca was very dry.We were not very hungry after coming directly from the evening service in the Club Lounge. So we skipped the dessert. To our surprise, the wine bottle we ordered, was also included in our complimentary dinner. The service was friendly.Dear Guest,Thank you for choosing to stay at InterContinental Bucharest and for choosing to dine at the fine Modigliani Italian Restaurant! We highly appreciate your nice comments and we are truly proud to learn that you recommend our restaurant that offers a large variety of refined and fresh goods. We are looking forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future for another great dinner together with your family and friends!Kind regards, Lior BeberaGeneral Manager

We were recommended to try this restaurant but initially decided against as the entrance seemed rather forbidding and there was no menu outside; however, we'd failed to notice the garden and passing by again, we went straight in. And I'm so glad we did. Deciding to have one course only, I and my husband had pasta and our friends other main courses, one of which was the fish stew. All were excellent and my husband was delighted by the tagliatelle, declaring the beef tagliata some of the best beef he had ever tasted. We enejoyed it so much we actually went back a week later, this time sitting inside and we had an equally excellent meal, accompanied by some very drinkable Romanian wine recommended by the very helpful staff, who on both occasions couldn't have done more to make our evening enjoyable. In common with an earlier reviewer, we certainly 'lucked out' in finding Savart and we would be sure to go again if we ever find ourselves back in Bucharest.Thank you very much for your positive feedback about your visit to Restaurant Savart. We are very delighted to hear that you enjoyed our food and the service there. We do very much appreciate your recommendation and it would be our pleasure to welcome you once again.

Walking in the pedestrian area of old Bucharest, every restaurant is probably a tourist trap. For some reason I choose this Bazaar, and, as it was a lovely end-of -summer day, I sat outdoors in the street. I did not expect much, apart from quenching my hunger and thirst. I was, however, pleasantly surprised. I had a good and kind service, in perfect English, a very decent bill, and a surprisingly good meal. I choose "baby calamari a la Lisbon". The description was "baby calamari with sichuan pepper, bay leaf, peperoncino, extra vergin olive oil, French fries, a secret from Heston Blumenthal". Whether he was the creator or not, I will never know: but it was fantastic.

Tried to book by email whilst in uk, to celebrate my birthday. Email response provided a link to a booking system. Managed to negotiate the system, which was in Romanian only. Ultimately system needed a code which would be text to my mobile. No code was text and no reservation could be made. On arrival in Bucharest, asked our concierge to make the booking. Telephone booking failed, as restaurant closed. Reception tried to book via same reservation system, again code verification required and again no code sent. Eventually, our concierge managed to book, whilst we out for the day, but we were unable to secure a table at the window. On arrival we were asked for passport ID, which we had not brought with us. There was no advance notification that ID was required. Eventually we were admitted without it.Our table was set for three people, the third setting was not removed all night - which we thought strange but maybe a Romanian tradition????Our server delivered menus but did not introduce himself and had no name badge. He returned very quickly to take out order and we were not ready. We decided to start with Birthday gins. The gin menu has maybe 5 gins, 5 tonics and 5 gin cocktails using the aforementioned gins and tonics. When trying to request our favoured gin and favoured tonic, our server was adamant we should have the cocktail, which I hadn’t really wanted as would have preferred a different tonic. Settled for the cocktail as couldn’t be bothered arguing (which come with lemon and lime garnish) but requested the lemon be removed. On arrival, there was no garnish and he was requested to appropriate the lime twist that was missing. After waiting quite a long period of time our server returned to take our order - one fish soup and one olives. He wasn’t happy with the olives order, trying to push for an additional starter. The starters were lovely, but the plates removed too quickly, and whilst still eating final olive - so no receptacle to dispose of final olive pip.We ordered the chateaubriand, main, medium rare. Sides of sweet peppers & halloumi salad and asparagus. We asked our server to recommend a local Merlot or Shiraz - this was what riled us most - he recommended some completely different wines, whilst he covered the price with his finger. We chose a merlot ourselves and realised then wines he recommended were significantly more expensive than the others. After a long wait our steak arrived. Now being very picky - the crockery was all cold. The beef had gone cold as it rested. The asparagus side was cold. The salad was obviously cold but I was surprised the halloumi wasn’t cooked. The steak was on the rarer did of medium rare, and was very rare in middle section. We had half eaten the steak before the waiter checked back. We told him every thing was cold and the steak under done. He offered to take the steak back to kitchen - but it was too late.A short time later a female waiter, who appeared more senior checked back on us and apologised. She asked if we could eat any more and we said no.Strangely the waiter then came with dessert menus, which we ignored. The lady water quickly removed these from the table and returned with the restaurant’s signature ‘cloud’ dessert, a trio of chocolate desserts topped with candy floss.Despite not wanting dessert, we ate it and it was delicious. A poor experience was partially saved and we were grateful. In summary:- they need to change their booking system. - the waiter covering the prices on the wine list was rude. - no excuse for cold food and plates in a restaurant of this calibre. - thankyou to the lady waiter that saved the birthday

Had dinner last night celebrating my husband’s birthday, and it was a wonderful experience! The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, the interior elegant and the food absolutely delicious. We decided to have the appetiser tasting menu followed by a main (octopus for me, beef for my husband) and the desert tasting menu for me and cheese for my husband. Plus some lovely surprises throughout the meal and a delicious birthday cake. The food was artistically presented and I was impressed how the chef managed to get the Romanian traditional food incorporated into his creations. We will definitely return here when we’re next in Bucureşti.

Had a nice dinner with some friends here. The location looks very nice, the staff was friendly and helpful. I had the starter with the bruchetta like items and for main the fish. To be true, my main course was the worst of those ordered, but it was ok. I have to say that the gnochi were superb and the duck was very good. Also we had a desert, some meringue with some chocolate sauce and fruits, good combination. The place is nice, the food was good, i will return.
