Historically in Lancashire, it is on the northern bank of the River Mersey where the estuary narrows to form the Runcorn Gap. Directly to the south across the Mersey is the town of Runcorn. Upstream and 8 miles (13 km) to the east is the town of Warrington, and downstream to the west is Speke, the city of Liverpool.

Weâve been here many times in the past and left a favourable review. Tonight was a shambles to say the least. Weâd booked a table for 6pm as we were going to an event at Parr Hall. By 6.05 weâd received our drinks and prawn crackers. By 6.20 the prawns crackers had been eaten as theyâd gone cold and the waitress came to tell us that our soup had been âdroppedâ by a member of staff but would be with us soon and replenished the prawn crackers. By 6.40 weâd had enough of waiting for two bowls of soup so told the front of house we were leaving. Offered free drinks which we refused but that did not make up for the fact our night was completely thrown into disarray. Went to a local tapas bar and we were served efficiently with delicious food. Wonât be heading back to Lauâs in a hurry despite positive experiences in the past. Really sorry but wouldnât recommend again. â¹ï¸

Love this place! Never had a bad meal. Ask for the hot and sour soup instead of the chicken and sweetcorn you get free with your meal. It's an extra pound, but it's well worth it!

Great,Just been recommended by my friend last month ,and been try last week ,We are really happy to order from STAR MOON CHINESE SHOP,best CHINESE food in town,they are so busy when we order,but all try the best to serve their nice food ,we stay there to pick up food about 20 min ,as many order ,but they all work hard ,we like it also Because they serve NICE FRESH food and CHIPS ,FAST FOOD easy shop and online order - all the food let us feeling nice for my family,We have ordered 70 pound for family party ,fast and easy to order ,happy about it .definitely will come back to order soon,we have recommend our friend to try,good takeaway shop for our party night.

Hi folks,The first review I left was most favourable. I ended my review with âBLOODY SUPER â.We went again on Thursday evening and had the early menu meal. Guess what? BLOODY SUPER!!! And great value for money. Soups were yummy, the ribs were yummy, the fried beef with ginger and black bean sauce was superb, but not as good as the sweet and sour chicken, which was divine.You have to go!!!

Having visited other fast food establishments in the area and found them disappointing. I approached the Golden RIver with trepidation. I need not have worried. The fish and chips are superb and their Chinese dishes equally so. All food seems freshly prepared and not just reheated. A great find and I will definitely be back. Well done to all who work there.

This is a proper fish and chip shop , the food here is superb and the staff are always helpful,polite and organised.My favourite is the fish and the choice of haddock , plaice and cod and cooked freshdefinately the best chippy for miles around and i pass many just to get here(,also do all the meals if thats your thing) I suggest you give it a try and you will do the same Dont worry about the review of the area the only thing that gets battered around here is the fish!..and if you dont want to hang around you can always phone beforehand and you order will be ready when you arrivewhat more can you ask for!highly recommended
