We ate here last Friday evening. The dining room is an extension with orangerie with big windows on to a delightful courtyard with dining tables. Sadly, October was too cold for the courtyard to be in use. The dining room was extremely noisy, had nothing to deaden or absurd sound and the tables are quite close together. The food is expensive - a pound or two per course over usual restaurant prices round here. So we expected something special. The dishes were competent, the ingredients good, but none of the magic or delight we would expect for the extra money. In the end we left a bit disappointed and deafened. If we’d gone in summer and eaten out in the courtyard we may have ended up with a completely different impression.Dear Peter,Thank you for your review. The night you chose to dine with us, which was indeed a Friday, was extremely busy as we were fully booked. Coupled with this being one of our live music evenings, of course it was noisy and if you wanted something more intimate then maybe a mid-week day would be a better option for you.Our prices are relevant to the dishes offered and as you fail to state what the ‘other restaurants’ are I cannot assist you any further with these comments apart from the fact that all of our prices are stated on our website, in the menu displays outside the main entrance and on our restaurant menus of course. So plenty of opportunities to check our prices even before committing to a reservation.I look forward to you returning in the summer but I’m afraid it will still be busy and noisy due to our popularity and we do not offer price reductions off our menu for dining alfresco.

Really good, we are local, but have never been here to eat before.Service fantastic, fast and efficient.I had smoked salmon and scrambled egg. The helping of smoked salmon was big and very good quality and colour. Lovely flavour. Not greasy tasting as some can be.The scrambled egg was also fine.Could have done with slightly less cooking and a bit more seasoning.Husband had bacon and scrambled egg and said it was delicious. The coffee too was excellent. We had just popped in on a whim!So glad we did, and we will be back. Many thanks deepdale café

Had dinner yesterday, and the feeling was reminiscent of a small, quiet country bistro, but at Burnham Market prices. The food was all good, the apple and blackberry tarte fine really excellent, with a smooth vanilla intense ice cream. The memory will linger a good while. The setting is a victorian school with a really high ceiling. It keeps the interior cool. The service was friendly and professional. We'll worth a visit, but you need to book well in advance for dinner.

Unusual edge of car park location - but well designed modern building and outstanding food and very genuine enthusiastic and knowledgable staff. Mushroom Orzo and Burrata were favourites amongst very good small plates of tuna tartare and squash. Tempura Monk cheeks - Calamari like in some respects - well accompanied by thick cut chips. No room for some great sounding deserts-an all round excellent experience and great to have an open view onto the kitchen and the chefs working so hard on creating the visually appealing and great tasting dishes. Very good value too. Highly recommended.

My husband booked the day before and told them we would like a nice table for his wife’s birthday for lunch. When we arrived we were shown to probably the best table in the restaurant with a fantastic view over the marshes. Without exception the staff were brilliant and so was the service and food. After a conversation with Sandra on reception, who was lovely, we mentioned that we might like to go back another time and stay in one of their pet friendly rooms so that we could take our cocker spaniel. Without asking we were taken to one of the rooms to have a look at it to see if we thought it would be suitable. Needless to say we have booked a short break there in January. It was my birthday today and a card was waiting for me wishing me a happy birthday and dessert came out with a birthday message and an indoor firework! Such a nice gesture. The staff all went above and beyond what was expected. A truly rememberable birthday lunch. Thank you.Thank you for your lovely review, I am delighted that you enjoyed your birthday lunch and that Sandra looked after you so well with a tour of the room, a card and pyrotechnics! We look forward to welcoming you back in January. Kind RegardsRob

I'd heard that it was good, and I wasn't disappointed. The ladies serving were friendly, and very helpful. Always appreciated. The seafood was delicious, and plentiful; but for me, a key test for really good eats is the quality of the "non-core" parts of the meal. They scored full marks. Very tasty salad, and the baguettes were delicious. Be cheery and polite and you'll find that nothing will be too much trouble for these girls! Not strictly wheelchair accessible, it's up steps, but I bet that they'd come out to serve you!

We brought our son and grandson here for a fish supper after a long hot day out. We were surprised that it was open on Sunday. This was news to us but I am aware that it appears to have changed owners as I didn't recognise most of the staff. It seemed busy and we were informed that it would be 10 mins before we would be served. We actually got our food over 30 mins from sitting down, then one of the orders was wrong, we then had a five minute wait for our sides to arrive and another 5 mins before the drinks, again one wrong, arrived. By this time the queue was out of the door and down the street. The quality of the food was comparable to previous visits but the service wasn't. It appeared, I may be wrong, that there were only three working behind the counter plus one serving tables. My point really is that it would appear that you open on a Sunday because it is profitable, so make sure you have enough staff to serve your customers. So be prepared for a very long wait for your food if you go at a busy timeHello Jim,I understand you visit us regularly from your many reviews. The Sunday you refer to was August bank holiday weekend and yes we was VERY busy which you rightly state in your review, you was informed of a wait which you obviously accepted so why then feel the need to complain out it? The shop hasn’t changed hands simply some partners have left, the staff have largely unchanged for over 10 years, but thanks for noticing! I suppose I must apologise for your extended wait and shall take on board the need for a small army of staff next bank holiday. On the upside I’m glad you enjoyed your food.
