Staying in the next village we decided to ring the changes and give this pub a try......only one other couple dining (no drinkers) so we were a little concerned!I ordered a steak which was delicious, cooked as I had ordered, medium rare but my husband chose steak and ale pie which was served warmish and with a pancake shaped bit of pastryperched on top, very disappointing.Sadly however we were inundated with flies the whole timelanding on our dinner which was not very pleasant. The young girl behind the bar was very inexperienced and appeared to be on her own the whole evening......I asked forsome french mustard to go with my steak which she hadn't got,all in all not the best dining experience!

We went as a family as it was our first night at the holiday park associated. I wouldnât bother as the staff donât, not the barman, not the waiting staff and not the cooks who are constantly smoking at the front of the property. Food bland, childrenâs pasta dish microwaved, place dirty. As indicated on earlier reviews it is such a shame that they rest on the laurels of being the only restaurant at the holiday park. If they were any good we would of eaten there for the 3 nights we were staying rather than just the one.

Unfortunately this historic tavern needs TLC rapidly especially if The owners expect guests to pay a high price for a room and to get them to return. This Inn needs investment, re-organisation and more than just a make-over both inside and out quickly. Some of our observations are: Our room had an odour and was shabby, dust in the window frames, skirting boards etc. The ceiling light shade was broken and had been left on the bed. The shower tray leaked onto the floor. The main bar area had a leak in the ceiling and two buckets catching the drips. The breakfast was generous but lacking taste and presentation. The staff were pleasant enough but it felt like the Inn and the staff are surviving by plodding along until it âbreaksâ.

Such an odd set up. Restaurant like being in someoneâs lounge. Conservatory looked like it was about to fall apart. Granted big portions but of poor quality. Should have bailed at the bar but pushed on. Normally Iâd say something rather than just post something but wasnât sure where to start....

We called in here without booking as we both felt hungry and Sunday lunch was very appealing. The roasts offered were turkey and pork.......both duly arrived (one of each) together with vegetables and undercooked roast potatoes. Both the turkey and pork looked very similar (same colour and shape!) and tasted the same.My husband ordered bread and butter pudding having asked the waitress if it was crispy and assured that it was.... what arrived was a square of soggy bread, brown on the top and totally revolting......we will not be returning.......wish we had read trip advisor reports before our visit.

The Castle Inn is a traditional Dorset pub close to Lulworth Cove, with a history dating back to the 16th century. Immaculately restored throughout, it is the ideal base for exploring Dorsetâs stunning Jurassic coastline and the beautiful countryside of t
Great food. Great Butcombe beer and best of all: really comfy chairs especially after the walk up the hill from the beech. They even let both the dogs in. Really easy to order food with a good range and loads to drink: alcoholic or non alcoholic. We ordered fish butty (big strips of cod in a brioche bun), two lots of bolognaise arancini (balls of rice and meat deep fried) with truffle mayo and Parmesan cheese and a great Cheeseburger with bacon. All where hot and tasty. Very tasty. Well worth a visit.

A traditional thatched English pub in the heart of the Dorset countryside, offering a daily changing smaller menu of locally sourced produce. A wide range of beers and wines to accompany your home cooked meal.
We found this pub by accident and how happy we were. We were lucky to get a table in the well kept beer garden (note: accessible by steps) and enjoyed some lovely food and local drinks from the well stocked bar, served by very friendly staff. Unfortunately no baby changing but wasnât an issue. We will visit again.

Visited this restaurant on a very busy lunchtime on a hot day without a reservation. As I was only looking for a table for 1 a very helpful waitress quickly cleared up a table and I was sat down within a few minutes. The courtyard outside benefits from being in the full sun but each table has a sun shade for those who donât want to sit in the sun whilst eating. I ordered the fresh Dorset Mussels and they were stunning. Creamy garlic hue portion with fries and fresh crusty bread. Very reasonable price bearing in mind portion size and location. Have already recommended to friends visiting the area soon. Def will be going back there next time Iâm in lulworth cove.
