Birri Basta

This is a very decent pub by Reggio-standards. It has some of the freshest draft beer in the city and there is an excellent selection of bottled beers. However, it does appear that some of the beers that are advertised on the menu are never in stock...The food is basic Italian pub fare (fried things, pizza, etc.) which is served quite promptly after ordering. Service is almost always with a smile. The atmosphere is good with rock (70s - 00s) being the (sometimes loud) music of choice. It's not the place to go for a romantic night out but you can't go wrong dropping by here on a night out with friends.

I have a long tradition of enjoying artisian pizza in Italy the last 4 years adn this pizza is good. The base, the cheese and the tomato is great. I would suggest to choose carefully because there is a wide variety of choices from classic, red and white pizza. I visited the place with friends and we had ordered all type together and we shared it so I can confirm that they were all great. The staff are helpful and nice. they speak english as well as italian which is kinda rare in town.It is is a bit expensive for the food you get especially if you compare it to the prices around in town. It is slightly worth the money but the atmosphere is nice and I would recommend to book a table otherwise you can join a long queue.

Km Zero

We called here on our way to Sicily before catching the ferry, 2 grandchildren 14 & 7 waited for over an hour! The locals were served first, we were ignored for ages. Eventually our food arrived, I was totally shocked at what we were served I had ordered macaroni with pork ragu but was then told it was lamb! Ok I was fine with that until it arrived the dish was full of lamb bones and poor cuts of meat, and a strong taste of mutton. Couldn't eat it, my grandson had sausage & chips! Small amount of sliced sausage and cold chips, my husbands meal practically raw cordon bleu pork chop which he tasted but left. Possibly you may be safe eating pizza as all the locals did! We were overcharged but did not realise until the day after. But it's wasn't about price in this place it was poor standard and poor quality! Smokers also hindered the meal! Avoid if you like good food and good service!

We are staying in the Grand Excelsior and decided to come here to eat because it was convenient. To be honest, we were not expecting much and we were blown away!We had the Insalata Excelsior and the Beef Carpaccio, both of which were phenomenal. My boyfriend and I also shared the only non-seafood pasta on the menu and it was AMAZING! We had so many combinations of flavored that we have never experienced before. The gentleman that appears to manage the restaurant is a true professional. He takes his position very seriously, ensuring everything on the tables is placed correctly and straight, from the silverware to the oil and vinegar. He also took the time to pour our wine between two glasses multiple times to allow us to taste the wine open. Extremely impressed. We had the red wine - locally made, Librandi Ciro and it was fantastic. By far, one of the top 3 wines we tried on our trip. Overall, beyond impressed. This is truly a fine dining establishment in the most unsuspecting place!
