Called in whilst on holiday for Sunday lunch with my wife, we ordered 2 Roast beef lunches, waited a long time before it arrived to discover it was lukewarm the only thing that was hot was the side of Veg. My wife sent hers back for reheating whilst I continued eating mine. I had mine ate and there was still no sign of my wifes plate returning so we got up and left , her with no lunch. Very poor experience.

Tucked away a little from the seafront, this is well worth finding for food. We were not expecting much as it’s a small pub with a limited menu but the seafood linguine was excellent with a hint of chilli. All of our meals were excellent and the staff were friendly and efficient. It’s well worth finding and it’s advisable to book if you can

We had drinks here one night, and came back the next night for dinner. We loved the warm, cosy decor, good choice of drinks and pretty good food. The only thing that wasn’t great was the service; a lot of errors both times, the staff were friendly but lacked professionalism. They forgot to bring menus and to seat us in the restaurant until well after the reservation time, and every drinks order was messed up. All in all, however, we forgave the slapdash service because the ambiance and food made up for it. We would go again if we were in the area.Good evening honeyHenleyonThames,Thank you for your time writing this review.I am happy to hear that you loved the atmosphere of the Restaurant, and I will be sure to pass on your comments about the food on to the kitchen.I am sorry that the service was not to the standards that you wanted. The famous nautical glitz in the pub and restaurant had me worried for a while - surely they cannot also serve superb fish and seafood meals. But they sure did! After the regulation photographs we settled into a roasted pepper soup and whitebait starter. Both were sublime! For mains, my partner had a huge helping of crab salad while I chose the sole. Delicious! The sevice was attentive, and the prices fair (all things considered).Hello Graham J,Thanks so much for taking the time to write us such a fab review! It means alot when we get a five star one. I ma delighted we were able to help you enjoy your evening (the Megrim sole is my favourite dish on the menu too btw !). We hoep to see you again soon,

Stopped and watched a lunch time film here at midday. Viewing experience is very good with plenty of legroom and comfy seats.Had lunch afterwards in their spacious cafe area. Menu is fairly straightforward although the food does have a touch of class. Pork belly tacos were a very nice light bite as were the freshly prepared cakes. Price is also reasonable for food although drinks are at the slightly higher end but are probably what's expected for this type of venue. Hi Paul, thank you for taking the time to review! We're glad to hear you enjoyed your experience in the cinema and restaurant, and are looking forward to your next visit. Kind regards, Newlyn Filmhouse.

We chose this place to eat because of the certificate of excellence status. However, it wasn’t as good as I was expecting. The food is good no frills pub grub and the place is family friendly. The service was welcoming and efficient. So all in all a great place if you’re on holiday with the family and on a budget but it wasn’t a place that was notable or a ‘must visit’.

Ate in Red Lion 3 times whilst on our week to Newlyn on final night husband ordered the fish pie - he found a piece of what looked and felt like pottery in it - when he told the chef she said it was crab shell. My husband said it felt like it had nearly broken his tooth she said “You poor f***er I won’t charge for it” - appalling - horrible end to a lovely week
