But, if you want a hamburger and fries, it's OK. There is a pool table and the joint heats up in the evening (so we're told). The food is fairly nondescript and the atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but we'ver heard that gringos and locals alike tend to frequent.

Great place to watch sports and enjoy a beer. The local IPA was a very pleasant surprise if slightly expensive. Unfortunately the food was not very good. Large portions at reasonable prices but pretty tasteless. We found much tastier food in a restaurant on the outskirts of town, but met here for pre and post-meal drinks and to watch the playoffs.

El Gecko was right next door to Playa Norte, the campground where we stayed in Los Barriles. We had vegetable fajitas there that were pretty good but a little oily. So we didn't eat there again since our kitchen was literally right there.But we did pop in regularly for drinks and chips and guacamole. The guacamole made at the table is excellent. They have seating on the beach or under a palapa. The setting is unbeatable. Great place to chill.

if you are a prime rib lover Sunday at Tio Pablo's is a must. it's simple meat potato veg done to your liking and a very large serving of that. Their fried chicken is also excellent and also has a special day. The menu is heavy with very few light options and the portions are very generous. Be sure to visit Tio's when you're hungry.
