Had not been here for a while. So disappointed. It was expensive and the food was not good. The sauces were very similar and bland but with a large chilli thrown on the top to represent the hotter dish we ordered. The wines are also way overpriced for poor quality wine.

New taj mahal Indian restaurant since 1972..and first indian restaurant in harpenden.. We've been serving over 45 years taj mahal very reputable and well-known restaurant in the town we've achieved many awards in excellency and services...
Having recently moved to the area, I have used this venue many times, reading trip advisor thought it sounded great. Unfortunately the last few times I have had food the chicken has been very dry, it was like it was cooked separately in the oven with no cover (dried out) not cut into pieces and placed in Korma sauce, this was over coloured yellow.Tikka sauce tasted like Korma sauce but bright pink! Two of the popaddoms looked and tasted as if they were put into oil that was not hot enough but still put in between more cooked popaddoms.I had to take my order back, not happy with any of it.I first asked if they had changed chefs, I was told they havenât, when I explained and showed staff what was wrong with my order, they looked puzzled!Did not appeared bothered and gave me my money back.If reading this New Taj Mahal... please look into this. Please ask yourself.... is this something you would serve your loved ones. Iâm sure the answer would be ânoâ Also please attend to the sign outside.Kerbside appeal. Hi there...we are sorry that you had bad experience with our food....I read all of your word that you mentioned we used yellow colour on kurma also you said we coockd chicken separately .......etc... I would like to let you know. That....we are first indian restaurant in this town since 1972 ...from my thought we never had issues like this before...every day we sell same kurma no one has any issues .....when you came we didn't have any issues with refund we were happily refund your money....didn't have any "pazzeld or hasle"

An award winning restaurant in the heart of St.Albans serving fresh and authentic Bangladeshi & Indian food.An extensive range of beers, wines and sprites. Popular with couples as well as large groups.
We have been to the Chilli Bar on a number of occasions, and never been disappointed with the food and the service. As my previous review will confirm.Tonight was the polar opposite. We had a table booked for 8pm, we arrived 5 minutes early and shown to our table which was right in the middle of the restaurant. From this promising beginning we were expecting a good meal, after 20 minutes we were still sitting and waiting for a menu and someone to offer us drinks and poppadoms. We eventually asked a passing waiter for a couple of menus, he bought these over and said âIâll get someone to take your order for drinks âAfter being ignored for another 15 minutes we stood up and left, not challenged by anyone on the way out.Very disappointing Chilli BarHello Andrew Iâm sorry to learn of your disappointment at the level of service you received. As you will agree this is highly unusual. Please do contact me directly at [email protected] so that I can investigate this further.Kind regards Kashim
