Monaco Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Monaco

November 4, 2017 Moriah Teneyck

The Principality of Monaco, a small city-state overlooking the pristine blue waters of the Mediterranean, is a place famed for its glamour and wealth. The Palais Princier, former home of Princess Grace and current home of her son, Prince Albert II, is at the top of the cliff-bound medieval Monaco-Ville. More well known is Monte Carlo, a neighborhood soaked in sun, money, and expensive champagne, and home to the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix, the European Poker Tour, and the Monte Carlo Rally.

Le Louis XV - Alain Ducasse a l'Hotel de Paris

Since its opening, within the Hotel de Paris authenticity and culinary elegance have always been delicately combined at restaurant Le Louis XV.The menu, a Mediterranean and seasonal symphony of a style that Alain Ducasse qualifies in one word as « essential », suggests a wide pallet of exquisite dishes. The wine cellar, filled with 400 000 bottles, is a wine aficionados' dream.Indulge in this elegant room set in light and gold or on the Terrace for lunch or dinner.

We dined there for a very special occasion and staff was very supportive while still respecting our privacy. We went for a menu and enjoyed every dish. As I am not a fan of shellfish, these dishes were replaced with another exquisite dish. Loved the service, the taste of the food, the presentation, in short all. When I need to mention something which could be improved upon I only can come up with not having seen the chef after dinner (I am used to that in the top-rated restaurants but maybe I thus far was spoiled :-)

Both cuisines are really nice, but the service most of the time disappointing, many waitresses always running somewhere but when you order something you have to wait for a long time or they just forget about you.

We’ve been privileged to have dinner at Joel Robuchon just before Christmas. Despite being regulars in Monte Carlo in general and Hotel Metropole in particular, it was our first dining experience at the restaurant. We’ve both had vegetarian menu, which was delightful and served to perfection. However, the truly special part comes from the human talent at this restaurant. The level of professionalism and attention to details was unmatched. To anyone who appreciates not just food, but the highest levels of hospitality, remarkable talents and passion for excellence, please do not miss this restaurant. Savour every mouthful and, above all, speak to the people who serve you. They have worked with some of the biggest names in the hospitality industry, and their stories are inspirational. Treat this place and its talents with utter respect, and you’ll have an experience to cherish for ever. Thank you to everyone at Joel Robuchon for making us feel so special. We are looking forward to seeing you on Saturday.

In Monte Carlo it is typically quite difficult to find very decent Italian food. If you add the value for money to the equation things really get tight. Avenue 31 is a rare example of really good Italian food in combination with outstandingly decent pricing. No wonder this place is always packed for lunch and in the evening Reservations are highly recommended. Go there You won’t regret it

We read the reviews on TripAdvisor and had high hopes for the food. We ordered the Plat du Jour and had the Lasagne which was poor. The portion was good but it was not reheated enough because it was only hot/warm on the outside and cold on the inside. There were so many layers on pasta about 8 and not enough sauce. It was a real shame. The main waitress spent a lot of time trying to call people into the restaurant but shouting Hello, good pasta, pizza. Made it all very unsettling and not relaxing.

Buddha Bar

Lounge bar and restaurant. Amber lighting, a Zen atmosphere, decor blending fabrics, colors, "objets d'art". Asian fusion cuisine, a subtle blend of Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese influences. A special mention for exceptional cocktails to accompany sushi, maki and sashimi, revisited by the Buddha-Bar.

This is a mix between a very nice bar at the ground floor and a fusion Asian kitchen in the second floor.always very busy so reservation is a must.
The dishes usual are very tasty but some times the cook forget to control his steamed fish and it comes very dry.but all in all the sushi sashimi mix is very good.in summer one can seat outside in the Terrace.
Wine list very interesting.

THE most WONDERFUL experience all around! The service & food were excellent.....it was a very SPECIAL evening!!! Fabienne was a dream, Chef's creativity was fascinating and execution top notch. We were looked after in the most lovely way. The menu of the evening was spectacular.
One side note, we had a difficult time finding this gem with our GPS and ended up arriving 40min late to our essential reservation. It is in a pedestrian only area....be forewarned to have as much accurate information on how to reach the destination as possible.
It is truly worth the work to find. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend for both the service & food!!!

Constantine

Reviewed By og84 - Los Angeles, California

The menu is not all that large, there are maybe a dozen tables total, but don't be put off, the food is exceptional, at least it was for us, and the the service was very good. Plus the restaurant sits on the quai, overlooking the harbor, so the view is quite good and because of its small size, every table has a view. There are perhaps size restaurants all in a row, Constantine is located at the end closest to the harbor entrance. Parking is an issue, you will need to walk here in order to get to the restaurant. Having said that, it is well worth the effort. Its a great place for slow dining and to take your time.
