Sometimes you do find perfection

Reviewed By narvelluk

I have never been a fan of glitzy properties self consciously trying to take care of a guest. And so I was thrilled to find Baglio Oneto where every bit of service seemed old school in the way only the Italians can do it. It comes from an innate pride in their food, country, wine, and why not? The peninsula is blessed, kissed by the sun since ancient times and all the arts flourish. Here my husband and I found that old style property where the dining room is still run by an attentive maitre d', fleets of sub waiters all supporting a wonderful kitchen producing the best food with the fresh ingredients on their doorstep. Every one at Baglio was eager to share their enthusiasm for Sicily with us. Be it the desk clerk who patiently handled my request for the perfect view, the bartender who produced a great drink nightly, the lovely pool girl who eagerly wanted to know our itinerary and the most memorable: the waiter who seeing me slightly shiver quietly and ever so gently urged his aide to produce a wrap for me. And so a table cloth arrived without my even asking as a shawl against the slight night chill of an early May evening. That is real professionalism and classy training. So yes, Baglio Oneto has it all as far as I am concerned all against the backdrop of a lovely villa and tower. Don't come here looking for bread making classes, yoga, or any other chi chi nouvelle experience. This is Italy standing still, taking a breath and hoping you can settle in, turn off your phone, put away your computer and savour i sapori. Grazie miller per una vacanza bellissima. I can't wait to return and enjoy the glorious views while I take a breath myself.

We stayed at this resort for 8 days and we really had a great time here. The staff is very helpful and goes out of their way to help and accommodate you. The whole resort, including the room, is very clear and well kept. They really take pride in what they do and offer to their customers. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was sumptuous, especially the croissants with Pistachio cream (very delicious). We managed to also use the pool. It was spotless clean and we had a lovely time relaxing swimming and staying by the pool. They also gave us very good tips what to see and experience in the area. Thanks to their advice, we maximised on our Marsala experience and learnt more about this beautiful wine region. The service is very friendly yet professional. You really feel that you are surrounded by friends. We look forward to visit again. Tnks Nicola and Toni :)

Baglio Donna Franca

The Wine Resort with a winery was built after the restoration and conversion of a large "baglio" located in the centre of an agricultural establishment that, at one time, belonged to the Florio family. The historic Sicilian dynasty of the Florio family introduced Marsala wine to the entire world, invented the tuna fish industry in Favignana and controlled the largest commercial naval fleet at that time in Italy. The name Donna Franca is a homage to Franca Florio, who was an important and well-known figure of the Florio family.

Beautiful hotel in the centre

Reviewed By snowpingu

Lovely building, interestingly decorated. Nice large bar area with a garden and thick hot chocolate available. I expect a few people may find the glass floor over the tiles tricky. Our room was on the square, which was a nice view although the square became noisy later on... But the thick shutters blocked the noise. Good breakfast. Only downside was we couldn't figure out how to get the air con to cool the room but were only there one night so didn't enquire.

We were a group of 10 people looking for new accommodation as previous one was a scam. Three of us shared a big room with a balcony, facing the side of the property. It was off season and Roberto was just getting ready to open Relais officially. It's not a 5star place, but it was cozy and Roberto was super nice: he adjusted our breakfast to include more savoury options, opened a bottle of champagne for us all to celebrate, gave us tips of where to go dine in Marsalla and arranged transportation. I loved sipping coffee facing the sea and the sunsets are just stunning. Within walking distance from the kitespot it was just perfect for our group. Thank you Roberto for such a warm welcome and for the little Italian lessons.

Particularly I would like to thank to Maria Laura, who has provided as with the room suited to our needs. Everyone in reception (also Antonino, Erica) are helpful and knowledgeable. Food: Breakfast is reasonably basic. The food at dinner is fantastic. Spa: We had a few treatments. I was surprised to have had a good strong massage (I am spoiled), so I do recommend it. When we did get a room after looking at three is was right at the rear of the hotel. The other rooms were poor one star if you wore rose tinted glasses. The room we ended up with was in an apartment block it was airy and clean nice bathroom. When we stayed there was a problem with the electrics and at 3:30 each morning the doors woolly open and the emergency lights would come on. This problem was solved after three nights of our early alarm call. Because it was end of season the management moved us to the main building for our third and final weeks stay. Well what a let down. Small rooms not well appointed and no double bed just two singles pushes together To add insult to injury the management decided to switch the ac off. The problem with this was we were working a week of nights so yes it’s nice and cold at night but still 24 plus during the day. Breakfast was of a very poor quality and not warm for hot items and cold item warm. Staff were very helpful in every area of operation
