Hitchki

An internationally inspired restobar, serving regional cuisine, with elements of nostalgia. Now open, in Powai, Bombay.

Reviewed By Glen2697

A first-rate restobar in a neighborhood with a stature as high-spirited and vibrant as Powai, 'Hitchki' certainly kicks it up a notch with an awe-inspiring decor featuring interiors of sheer excellence and a prodigious modern bar. It's one of the gastropubs which suit every occasion, be it a corporate gathering or casual shindigs. The food menu is resplendent with a diversity of culinary treats from regional Indian and popular International cuisines. The appetizers and other small bites are delectable and rich in every gastronomic aspect that one can think of. A peculiar feature of the menu is the naming convention that they have adapted for the dishes, featuring a plethora of histrionic Bollywood references. Most of the main course options are a fusion of two or more cuisines, throwing light on the kind of innovative skills the chefs encompass. We ordered,#Prawn Jaye Par : Delicious 'Butter Garlic Prawns' served on the crunchy 'Taro Nest Basket'. The presentation is lovely, they serve it with a side of orange zest. #Kha Muuuuush : Soft and extremely flavourful 'Mushroom Galouti Kebab' served on 'Khasta Roti'. The kebabs have a melt in mouth consistency and they're topped with 'Garlic Stained Yogurt'. Once again, the presentation is fabulous with Garlic Stained Yogurt at the side topped with roasted cashew nuts.#Bhut Jolokia Wings and Rings : Claimed to be one of the spiciest dishes in the menu, it amasses enthusiasts with a craving for spicy food. These chicken wings are glazed with a meld of 'Bhut Jolokia Sauce' and 'BBQ sauce' and served with 'Onion Rings'. #Simon Go Back : From the main course section, this dish is a plate of 'South Hall Curry' topped with 'Chicken Tikka Masala' served with 'Herb Kulcha'. The curry is rich in aroma and has a perfectly satisfying consistency. It is loaded with nuts and has a rich royal flavour. The chicken tikka pieces are tender and taste quite good.DrinksThey have a comprehensive and elaborately structured bar menu bedizened with a great deal of options with different liquor bases. They also have quite a lot of options for teetotallers that are full of flavour and have a very satisfying aftertaste. We ordered :#He-Man #Dil Maange More#Richie Rich#Bheege Oats TereDessertsEncompassing all sectors of gastronomic features with regards to sugarfixes and confectionery, the 'Desserts' section prides itself with some of the most adorable sweet-treats. As far as the palate resetters are concerned, there is nothing better than salted caramel that does the trick. The desserts we tried, were primarily salted caramel based.Khul Ja Sim Sim : It's a meld of ice cream sandwiched between Parle-G biscuits and Cheesecake placed on a bed of caramel. It is certainly not one of the pretty looking desserts in the menu but when you talk about it's flavours and other taste factors, it is one of the finest.Banofee Bomb : A dessert comprising of a combination of caramelized banana. pecan nuts, banana cake, ice cream with a chocolate covering festooned with salted caramel, it is pleasing to the eye and a succulent treat to the taste buds. It tastes like heaven, indubitably one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Our table was hosted by Mr. Tahir Shaikh who led us through a perfectly pleasing dining maneuver. The customer service is unblemished with the average order time being fifteen to twenty minutes per dish during peak hours. To summarise my dining experience, I had a great time here, the staff really makes you feel at home with their hospitality and geniality. In conclusion, 'Hitchki', without a doubt, is one of the first-rate gastropubs in the neighbourhood.

Though I was not too impressed with Versova Social, I found Goregaon Social a much better place to hang out. The street food made with eggs was quite a revelation. Salli per edu and Social bhurjee, available in the breakfast menu, served as great starters. Old school chicken tikka was just awesome. Have not tasted better chicken tikka ever. Spinach corn soup, served with toast was good too.The theme is that of a jail, so the decor matches accordingly. Food is served in aluminium plates and tiffin boxes. Good joint, great vibe. Seating could have been more comfortable - the height of some of the chairs is more than that of the table, which I found a bit annoying.

With the rapidly growing environmental issues around the globe we as major metro city need to shift focus on sustainable use of resources around us. Glad to see how the F&B industry is migrating towards the concept of Ecotel. Orchid Hotel (Ecotel) in Vile Parle (Mumbai) is a real life example of running Ecotel concept keeping in mind environmental improvements rather degradation. For entrepreneurs, tourist, business meetings and conferences Orchid hotel serves for an ideal place to reside at it offers amongst all the hotel amenities. When it comes to stay customers would surely look for good around them and orchid hotel encompasses a wide variety of restaurants serving both Indian and International cuisines along with one round the clock running coffee shop for caffeine lovers. During my recent visit to Orchid Hotel I chose to go for Mostly Grills restaurant situated on the seventh floor providing an exquisite rooftop view of the city. Mostly grills offers both Indian & Continental cuisine on the table….Let’s dig into the dishes we explored…Food:1> Trio Pepper & Cheddar Cigar Roll – Loved the presentation of the dish with Cigar Rolls placed inside shot glass filled with Sweet Chilly Sauce. Rolls were crispy from outside a bit cheesy from inside but as mentioned in the menu stuffed bell pepper was missing in it. Well there is always room of improvement…2> Char Grilled Balsamic Garlic Prawns – WOW!! Huge Kings prawns is always a seafood lover’s spoilt choice. Balsamic here refers to vinegar drizzled from top for the preparation. Mildly charred prawns tossed in garlic and butter surely fed our souls. A bit greedy all of them I ate myself ….Highly recommended!!!3> Panko Cheese Burst Chicken – Panko refers to the flaky and crunchy bread coating stuffed with chicken, cheese and topped with melted cheese also French fries and lemon butter sauce served on the sides. 4> Mexican Sizzle Chicken – Well this is one of the sizzlers which didn’t had any rice on the hot bed. Instead there was chunks of chicken tossed in tomato salsa and fries to accompany. The moment it was kept in front of us all we could hear was sizzling sound and whispering our minds eat me before I’m cold…..5> Norwegian Salmon Steak – In the mains we thought to give a twist to our palate this time. High on protein and vitamins. Perfectly grilled salmon served with steamed potatoes and veggies. Taste wise chef did wonders keeping the way it has to be not so spicy not so bland. Couldn’t think of any other way to end our feast.6> Tiramisu – Kudos to the presentation!!! No dinner is complete without a sinful dessert isn’t it?? Classic Italian dessert made up of mascarpone custard cream layered with Kahlua liquor and dusted with cocoa.Drinks:1> Mumbai Masala – Mix of Kokam Syrup, Lime Juice and topped with Soda. Refreshing and soothing2> Grapple – Mix of grapes and apple juice muddled with flavour of mint3> Orchid Special – Mix of basil muddled with pineapple juice.Ambience – Would recommend to visit Mostly grills when the sky is clear to enjoy the mesmerising view along with airplanes taking on/off at the runaway on one side and some picturesque selfies near the pool. Seating is quite comfortable for large groups and couples. At one corner you can find the bar and opposite to it walking a few steps takes you to the chef’s kitchen. Evening gets nostalgic with live music performances. Also there is big screen projecting live sports.Service – Service by them is quick and impeccable. Our attendant Mr. Amit was humble and full of energy. Food – 5/5Drinks – 4/5Service – 5/5Ambience – 5/5Thank you Orchid Hotel – Mostly Grills for a scrumptious and memorable evening.
