My family of 4 stayed in the wooden bungalow for 4 nights, with a view of the ocean!!! Kiteboarding instructors, Will and Stan are really great teachers! This restaurant is located in the La Cruz Inn and is well established. It is an intimate setting with few tables and outstanding food. We ate their this year and last and it is consistent with great service from Gloria (server). Fabulous caesar salad, citrus chicken dish with all the fixings of stir fy veggies and baked potato, Beef Jalfrezi dish with rice and too many condiments to list. A must try...all the locals travellers are in the know but new to town, should discover...oddly enough closed Sat/Sun, located next to the one and only church in the town square centre.

We had dinner here while staying in Samara, great food fast service and the price good. One of the best places to eat in Samara. It has the best burger in Samara hands down.

We met Ulf on the beach at Dreams Resort and booked a day trip to Nicaragua. Ulf and a driver picked us up, along with 2 other couples, early in the morning at the hotel entrance. We drove to the CR/Nicaraguan border, where we got out and walked across both borders. Once we cleared immigration in Nicaragua, we were picked up by another driver.
Ulf's knowledge of the Country is incredible and the locals were very excited to see him, as he has been going into their Neighborhoods for 12 years. We stopped at a fruit stand and tasted local fruits, visited local Neighborhoods that welcomed us into their home. We stopped and had a fabulous lunch. Ulf purchased 2 additional meals at lunch; one for the local man that keeps an eye on the van and the driver and another for someone that looks like they need a meal. (The guy is an incredibly good person) Ulf visited Nicaragua 60 times in 2016! The people know and trust him, which made us feel very safe.
We also visited an active volcano in Masaya, which was amazing.
We took a boat ride on the lake around a bunch of small Islands, including monkey island, where we met Lucy. Ulf called out to Lucy, who by the way, is a monkey! The boat pulled up to the trees over the water and Lucy boarded out boat and took a little ride with us.
I have traveled to 6 countries in the last 5 years and have gone on many excursions, this was by far the best tour I have ever taken.
We now have a friend for life! We would not return to CR w/o contacting Ulf!

We stayed the night in La Cruz, as a stepping stone to get to Nicaragua... The food choices in town are quite limited. This little pizza shop served up a good pizza with nice toppings, the owner tried real hard to speak english to us even though we're quite capable of speaking spanish... Quite inexpensive and tasty! Hope this review was helpful!!!

Coming back from the beach on our way to the Mountains we had to stop for food and we asked some locals for help with a restaurant. They suggested La Negra and was all worth it. Good portions and good selection of mariscos. We had arroz con camarones, ceviche and patacones! Delicious! Place a bit rustic of course but the important is the quality of good! Pura Vida!

Stopped here for breakfast on the way to Nicaragua with a tour. Food was nice but not much choice and very basic, only coffee and orange juice was served no tea. The view was stunning and is defiantly what makes the place worth visiting.

Boho chic beach front restaurant is a small and beautifully designed shack, on stunning Playa Jobo. The atmosphere and decoration celebrates the uncomplicated and authentic beach culture of local fisherman village. They have live music some times, and the location is right on the beach. Try some locally brew artisan beers with a grilled lobster burger. The scenery and the vibes are just as good as the food! Is a small jewel and little secret ( but not for long) .
