No eatery place open during that time. the hotel is so old. The floor tiles is broken. The wifi at my floor is not functioning at all. The bed and pillows were smelly.

An Attraction in Kota Belud

Reviewed By siralabu

This is one of the new attraction at Kota Belud and I decided to have my first glamping with mom here, during our recent trip to Sabah. I booked Romantic Suite and it located next to the beach and cafe. We arrived a bit late in the evening but we managed to watch sunset by the beach. The waves are quite strong and few people also surfing. Since it is weekdays, not many visitors, unlike during weekend. Then, we had our dinner and it was delicious. Since it is a bit outskirt, the best option is to have a meal in-house cafe. Everything is delicious and the price is reasonable. The pool here is only suitable for kids but as an adult, you still can enjoyed the swing. Lots of photo spots available here. Whilst for bathroom, it is on sharing basis but near from your tent. Bed is comfortable but I believe it is not suitable for honeymooners (no privacy).. Lol Since this area is also open to public with entry fees of RM5 per person, you have to be extra careful with your precious belonging. Lock is provided but it is quite inconvenience that you have to bend down to lock your tent. All in all, this is totally a whole new experience for me. Both of us (me and my mum) were happy with our stay, the views and foods. Wouldn't mind to stay here again if I ever come to Kota Belud in near future

A place definitely worth visiting if you’re in KK

Reviewed By Govindan98

I’ve actually been here more than 5 times. Twice this year! It’s a really really great place to chill and unwind from the city. All of the staff are friendly and fun people, they make the trip even more enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable but you wouldn’t want to spend time in there during the day tho it’s just too hot. They run on solar power and generators for power supply (which is I think awesome) so no aircon or water heaters. You should be on the hammock enjoying the view, on the beach, snorkelling or kayaking. Food is also always delicious thanks to the chef (Awi). Because it’s just an hour away from where I live, my friends and I are always planning our next trip to Bigfin. Truely never gets boring even if we go 3 times a year??. Btw I’d recommend staying at least 2 nights to really soak it up and enjoy your time there.

Hidden gem

Reviewed By jamien995

Hi, This is my second year staying at UCL for Reef check surveys. I like the location and the expansiveness of the area. Suitable for it's team building programs and also for a quick getaway and relaxation apart from diving and snorkelling activities. Accommodation is clean and comfy. With that said, It would be useful to have a dive centre building itself to keep things such as diving bags, wetsuit, other equipments etc as some were kept in the office space only which I'm sure the staffs won't mind but still, it would be good if scuba diving is to be one of the main programs/ attractions. All in all, a great team, friendly and hardworking staffs to accommodate to your needs, place is clean and a lot of indoor games to keep you busy as well. Well done guys!

Good and Bad

Reviewed By derbna

Good: -friendly staff -great food -great scuba diving -beautiful white sand beach with many beautiful shells -warm turquoise water -awesome view of Mt. Kinabalu -beautiful beachfront cabins Bad: -resort area is small and you are not allowed to leave the grounds due to Covid. - no coral (all dead) and just a few tiny fish may be seen when snorkeling the island. Off shore Scuba trips are awesome though (according to my son). -no beer was available during my 2 night stay as they had not stocked up adequately. Hot beer did arrive on my second night but was undrinkable due to the temp. - no refrigerators available in the cabins. - they play an annoying soundtrack on a continuous loop in the common areas, it’s the only soundtrack they have and it almost drove me insane. -ATV rental is free (30 minutes) but the area to ride is very small. About half the size of a football field. -TV in rooms only play 3 lousy channels. A great place to go and read a book enjoy the beach and get the required photo ops. By the second day though I was bored and more than ready to leave.

It takes a village

Reviewed By esopus35

Spent one night at this little village at one of many homestays. The accommodations are bunk beds but comfortable. The hosts were gracious. We cooked the best meal of the trip at one of the daughter's houses. Some people opted to river raft and they came back happy and excited. I opted to hike up the mountain to see the village's farming area, rubber, pineapple, it was a fun hike. The people in the village were all so friendly, I ended up buying homemade snacks from them and we became fast friends. The views are wonderful.....

Very nice place - backpackers delight. Friendly staff, we did a nice snorkeling trip, you can organise diving with them, cheap beer, nice food. It also has a little odd charme that I don't quite understand - still - good for a couple of nights at the beach.
