Breakfast, or not
Reviewed By royhN6425XSI had been told breakfast was good here. Lovely location as nice as anywhere I’ve been in Crete. They have a buffet breakfast which is always dangerous! The service is awful, the staff mainly do not speak English or can’t be bothered. If they don’t understand they just walk off. I tried an English breakfast which was just stone cold, accept the orange juice which was warm! Nice place to go and sit and be ignored

Wonderful hotel with lovely staff and spotlessly clean
Reviewed By LillybraiThis is a lovely family run hotel with wonderful staff and nothing is too much trouble. Prior to arrival they organised a taxi to collect us from the airport as we were arriving at night and then later in the week, helped us arrange a hire car at a great deal. Breakfast is lovely and refreshed throughout the sitting. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. Lovely bar and loungers on the beach. Great stay and would highly recommend.

I stayed 3 weeks now in September....I have stayed here several times since 2014..... have always had pleasurable holidays at this hotel. Here at Nautilus Bay one can relax and be happy ! I travelled alone this time but there are always people from many different countries to talk to....don't be shy ! All ages are represented here.....from very young romantic couples, families and even old fogeys like me ! As always, I met many interesting people this time....always something new to learn in life from talking to people.... Situated on a beautiful sandy beach (10 meters away), good for swimming, great breakfast (about 5 warm dishes in addition to bread, ham, cheese, yoghurt, fresh fruit, cakes and biscuits etc....). The rooms are spacious and kept very clean - a few with a panoramic view over the bay - amazing to wake up to this and watch the sunrise from the balcony. All rooms have at least a side view of the sea. Beds are very comfortable. Each room has a cooking area if you want to make dinner yourself. There is an in-room safe, effective air-conditioning and good wi-fi – no extra charges for these items. The hotel also has a beautiful pool. The hotel restaurant offers a limited menu of very tasty (extremely well cooked) dishes at good prices.....I suggest you try the food ! In addition there are some very good traditional restaurants nearby.....my two favourite ones are:- Fish Taverna 1960 ..and Stelios & Katina......both run by brothers from the same family. Both offer excellent food. Both are close to the hotel (within walking distance). A big thank you to all the staff (Vanna, Donna, Manolis, Yiannis, Fortiny and Fiora).....and to the owners George and Izabela.....a lovely couple who always take time for a chat ..... Wonderful people..... The hotel always upgrades each year....recently installed new air-con and faster wi-fi are very much welcomed. George also offers day trips to Balos on his sailing boat. People of all nationalities stay here...many come to see Balos (by boat from Kissamos) , Elafonissi and Falasarna.....is a good place to stay to explore western Crete......and relatively quiet.....not like the major tourist centres of Platanias etc.....If you do not drive, many places can be reached by bus......the little bus station is nearby. Always worth a day trip over the mountains to Paleochora..... Covid - good to see the hotel asking people to wear gloves (supplied) and face masks at breakfast when collecting food from the buffet. What more could I or you want ? You will enjoy your stay......I always do....I will return next year..... R

An interesting hotel experience
Reviewed By 786Lesley19First of all the good points: Great room - nice and big and clean and a good little kitchenette that was well equipped Friendly staff especially the bar person - we were the only people drinking in the bar though! But the restaurant manager did nothing except say ‘ ask the boy’ - for water etc Bad points- well one - the food and the restaurant Actually that’s a bit unfair as the Greek dishes on offer in the evening were lovely with a good choice of vegetarian dishes and ok if they want to offer chips every night and pizza - that’s fine -but : the first night desserts were all covered in artificial cream except for the crème caramel and the second night we were there they all were cream based - we had to pick off the strawberries on the fruit platter to get a decent dessert. And yet there was baclava on offer for Breakfast one day and jelly and fruit another day - far better if these were offered in the evening. As for breakfast. there was orange squash to drink - really? - in Crete where there are hundreds of orange trees - shame on you. and where were the boiled eggs? We gave up on the second day and made our own breakfast just grabbing a pastry to finish off with - so something was wrong. In short. You offered too much choice and didn’t get anything quite right including the quality of some of the food on offer. Half the choice is all that’s needed but do it well. Also, I get the buffet bit and the hotel going down that route, but at least set the tables with glasses, cutlery and decent napkins - it doesn’t look good just empty tables. Will we return? No and what a shame as it is in a lovely unspoilt part of Crete.

Great hotel and location
Reviewed By janetaJ986NMStayed for 1 night in May. Check in was easy, receptionist was very polite and spoke perfect English. Room was very spacious and very clean. Bedding very crisp and fresh. Bathroom very clean and Shower worked well. Great location with plenty of places to eat and drink. Would recommend this hotel.

Hot water issues
Reviewed By 604pennynStaying here as part of a walking group we expected to have a chance to wash in a hot shower on our return. For 3 days running there have been problems getting the temperature up since solar panels are not operating g fully in overcast weather and the booster system is faulty. No indication as to when this can be fixed abd a reliable supply restored. Asked if current temperature level mot good enough!! This is totally unacceptable.

Pleasant Stay
Reviewed By Bexyy1The hotel is family run and the staff are all fantastic, very helpful and friendly, especially when having to deal with COVID safety at breakfast time considering the language barriers. The hotel itself is of a good standard, very clean and tidy, and the pool was fantastic although very cold! It is situated close to Kissamos with restaurants, cafes and a few shops. The only downside was that we would have liked to have had tea and coffee making facilities in our room. It is situated right on the beach, although the beach is very rocky and we travelled to Falassarna and Elafonisi Beaches which are both absolutely stunning, but a car was definitely needed to get to these. If you are wanting lots of shops and restaurants then we would recommend a 50 min trip to Chania, which had everything.

The hotel is across the Archaeological Museum of Kissamos, in Skalidi square where many events from cultural societies of the region are happening during the summer. The guests can enjoy the view of the oldest buildings in the area as the museum, the church of Agios Spiridon and of course the Kisamos bay. Modern decorated, all air condition rooms and free wifi to all the areas of the hotel. The guests can inform us earlier if they have any special request for the channels they want to watch during their stay. All the rooms have kitchen, private bathroom, TV LED and a balcony. We also provide soundproofing windows and doors.
Feels more like a four star than the 2 stars it's advertised
Reviewed By toblereWe stayed here during the first half of February when most hotels in Crete where closed. The service and cleanliness of this 2 star hotel felt more like four star, the room was spacious and comfortable and very price worthy. The staff are very helpful with information about the town, restaurants and things to do. It was a real pleasure staying here, exceptional actually.
