Great Value, Clean Rooms

Reviewed By Viewfromthecheapseat

My boyfriend and I staid at Karon Cafe Inn for 8 days. Very clean and cozy. Includes private bathroom, tv, phone, air conditioner, fan, actual double bed (not two twins pushed together like many other places), hangers, ample space to put clothing, free waters, fridge and microwave. We had one night with very loud neighbors, but other than that a very quiet place to stay. Also includes pool access at their sister resort, and is within 5 minutes walking distance to the beach. Food can be located just downstairs/just outside, as well as several bars nearby. Very clean rooms. Would definitely recommend and will definitely stay here again!

Return visit

We were very pleased to be back here after an absence of 2 years and yes the resort was quieter but showing signs of picking up. There's still a warm welcome here and Paul and his staff are so friendly and efficient and can't do enough for you which is why people return year after year. We stayed in apartment 3 on the top floor which is lovely and spacious and has the advantage of a lovely sun terrace. There's plenty of other rooms to choose from including a hostel area. The rooms are kept very clean and there is a laundry on site too. The bar area is comfortable and relaxed with people popping in and out all the time. We have booked already for next year and can't wait.

Excellent, friendly service, super location, very nice room on a budget

I had booked the Karon Cafe Inn but was given a room at the Paradise Inn, a sister hotel just a couple hundred meters away. It was sizable and had a kitchenette alcove with microwave and fridge. Bed was comfortable, the room was clean and nice and spacious. For 370 Baht per night it was great! Karon was nearly empty. I have been there 3 times before to see Karon bustling but the pandemic has devastated the local economy. Many bars and restaurants had closed long before my arrival. I stayed a week and was generally the only guest in the hotel. Nonetheless Chai, the superb manager who also manages the upscale Pacific Club Resort, ensured my stay was comfortable. Mae, the excellent day manager, checked daily to see that the hotel and my room were cleaned and refreshed as needed. A storm knocked out the electric on my floor and maintenance was onsite quickly to resolve the problem....it was a blown transformer on the street. Chai also invited me to visit the Pacific Club Resort for its gym and pool. The rooftop pool is gorgeous and this was added value to my stay. The lovely beach, just a 3 minute walk away, was quiet but some chairs and umbrellas were available. Restaurants nearby were quiet but the service and food were still very good. The hotel was mostly without guests but the care was super. I was happy to spend a little money in Karon and help the local economy. And I enjoyed a very peaceful and relaxing week. Thanks to the staff.

Baan Saint Tropez Villas Kata Beach

Truly wonderful!

Reviewed By Fletch5276

A group of five friends stayed at Baan Saint Tropez for our annual holiday and were not disappointed with our choice of accommodation! Firstly, our host was always available for anything we required, such as local information or driving us to where we wanted to go - she even travelled down to the store for ice when we ran out at no charge - without us having to leave the pool!! The house was kept immaculately clean every day by the extremely friendly staff; we never felt like our privacy was being invaded and we truly appreciated that. The house itself is quite large yet comfortable (we stayed in the 5 bedroom villa) and the air conditioning certainly made a difference!! The pool is gorgeous and we certainly spent a lot of afternoons relaxing in privacy. The villa is close to shops and restaurants, and only five minutes walk to a fabulous Makro supermarket. The location was completely serene and quiet in the lush hillside and the views are BREATHTAKING! I would definitely stay again - you should too!

Hotel Surf Blue Kata

Really not the best - March 2020 update!!

Reviewed By KayleighMcFadden

I never write a bad review but I have to do it as the thought of any other young couple travelling here is not okay. I am unsure why myself and my partner decided to book here given some of the reviews etc tied to the property aren’t great anyway (on Air B&B also). I think the VERY close location to Kata beach was the main appeal. The ladies at reception were lovely enough the whole stay and helpful with renting out towels and beach mats - which were dirty by the way (wouldn’t recommend!!). There’s general dirt inside the room. They do have housekeeping but some of it is truly stained (holes in the bedding, grime around the bathroom seals etc!) Maybe the worst part is that the bathroom we were given is not even the bathroom on the images!!! False advertisement AND not fit for purpose! We had a wet room which was TINY and SOAKED everywhere. Shower was so low pressure and the head was really worn so random thick and thin trails of water literally just “leaked” out of it. The electricity only works with the key card.. a key card you HAVE to hand in to reception each time you even leave the room. Strange, felt unsafe after reading reviews of money going missing and they have all the keys and access whenever. Also apparently the cameras don’t work in the building. We didn’t experience anything stolen as far as we are aware but the safe doesn’t work. Another shock which was NOT stated ANYWHERE on the listing was the upfront 1,000 Thai BHT deposit to be paid. It was refundable but why is this not informed prior? Coffee/tea spoons were dirty with sugar and milk stuck to them so hadn’t been washed. Bleach stained all the towels. Nice to have towel changes and free water but that’s about it. Not a single bit of daylight so be aware! Really hard to dry clothes. Air conditioning worked fairly well. Some amenities listed were NOT included, hairdryer, hand wash, iron, more than about 3 hangers, desk chair, flowers/decor, bed was not done up with the display etc - not a huge deal but worth mentioning it all. Reading comments that the owner is rude etc worried me to complain as the WORST part of the whole stay was the noise. The staff play videos at all hours (I am NOT kidding) as it’s 24hr desk. The room is right next to this up one flight of stairs - strange since other stayers stated it was up more. I think we were in the wrong room. Shouting, banging of feet down the stairs, music, videos, just so much noise we had about 3 hours sleep each night at best. The final night the fire alarm was going off every 5 minutes each time lasting around 20 minutes and nobody cared or came to turn this off and fix it. Not only is this seriously dangerous but also really distracting. We found ourselves having to lie in and waste some of our time there as we were so exhausted. WiFi was on and off. The bed is SO SO SO hard and springy and HORRIFIC. They really need to sort this it is not good enough. Wanted to note everything as we have been backpacking around Thailand for a while now and this might actually be the worst place we have ever stayed. Pay the extra and go elsewhere. We had a bad experience and reading other recent reviews they also state the same. If you want compassion, cleanliness and safety don’t stay here.
