18 November, 2017.`Amanthrana' literally implies an invitation, a welcome. I didnot really need one to go into this place, which I havepatronised since my first visit to Gulbarga in 2013. Thisrestaurant has grown, and currently has one outside seating area,one non-air-conditioned one, and one air-conditioned one. My hoststook me right inside to the last one, and in spite of my protestsagainst North Indian-/Continental-styled food, treated me to an exquisitespread of the same (along with some lovely South Indian dishes).The place is very neat and clean, and a delight to dine in.The ambience is simple, but nice, with neat lighting and nicewall-papers around. The menu is quite extensive, and had enoughfor everybody's tastes. We started with a spicy manchow soup,served with fritters. A Manchurian cauliflower fry followed inIndian-Chinese style, and the freshly sliced onion rings and limepieces spruced my hunger up. I would order an impressive ragidosa, an item I had for the first time, and was sincerelyimpressed, with ragi being added to the dosa batter for taste.There would be a dal, a methi malai curry, and a cashew nut-basedcurry, all very impressive. I would wash it all down with someexcellent filter coffee.
