Singinawa Jungle Lodge - Amazing Place

I traveled to MP in May , my first time to the Wildlife Parks - Kanha was one of my stops and I was booked at Singinawa Jungle Lodge. This is located in the buffer zone of Kanha and spread across 110 acres. From the moment I was on my journey to Singinawa, I was sent messages on my time of arrival, if I would take my meal on arrival n my dietary needs. So much thought made me really look forward to my next few days here. I was welcomed by Deepanker, Abhinav , both of whom were in communication with me. The place is out of the world , the rooms , named after animals gives it a real jungle feel and Lo Behold, the paintings n more are of the animal in whose name the rooms are named. The rooms are big and very neatly kept. They followed all the eco-friendly norms. They have me a lot of flexibility on my food needs. Constantly checking on how I was feeling and if I needed anything to be done for me. Singinawa is a great place to stay and I will surely be back. My special thanks to , the service boys at the welcome who were Johar, Raju and Jiya the therapist who also was taking care of my food needs, the maintenance person (o handyman :)) Sanjiv or Sanju as he was called , Rahul the admin person and accountant and all the others who made my stay very comfortable. An exquisite boutique place that creates that special warmth. My best wishes to you All.

Banjaar Tola - A Taj Safari - Kanha National Park

Taj Safaris' third jungle safari lodge is situated along the banks of the Banjaar River, directly overlooking the heart of Kanha National Park. The luxurious, yet lightweight, ensuite tents have been designed in a contemporary style, with pressed bamboo wall panels, gorgeous bamboo floors and locally crafted furniture hewn from the timber of exotic Indian trees. The textiles have been designed in tones of delicate saffron and acid-washed green, with rich block-printed Madhya Pradesh cottons and silks. The atmosphere is light, ethereal and organic. The lodge boasts two elegant camps of nine suites, each with its own intimate tented sitting area. Banjaar Tola has its own unique identity, celebrating the Bastar and Dogra art that hails from nearby Chattisgarh.

Enjoyed our stay at Banjaar Tola - Taj Safari

1. We (myself, my wife & my daughter) visited Kanha National Park between 13th May to 15th May 2022 (for 2N / 3D). And stayed at Banjaar Tola by Taj Safaris. 2. Banjaar tola is located about 2 kms from Mukki gate. 3. The resort is located on the banks of the river Banjaar, The core area of the forest adjoins the other side of the river. In fact we have to enter the gate of the resort from the main road and drive through about 1 km through the buffer area of the forest to reach the common area / rooms of the resort. THE LOCATION IS AWESOME. 4. There are 18 rooms (read as tented accommodation) in the resort. In fact the resort is divided into 2 blocks of 9 rooms each (West block and East block) 5. ROOMS: The rooms are provided with a double bed (with option of extra bed for a 3rd person). A small table with a couple of chairs and a mini sofa are available in the room. A sliding door separates the bed room from the other room / enclosure which houses the almirah for clothes / racks for your baggage / wash basin / western commode / bath tub / a beautiful area for shower. Blinds are provided on all the windows. When you adjust the blinds, one can literally feel as if he is showering in the jungle!!! From the room one can see the Banjaar river and the dense jungle from the room itself through a sliding door fitted with transparent glass. In fact, one can sit on the bed and enjoy the scenery. Go ahead and relax yourselves in the bath tub. 6. SIT OUT / BALCONY: The sit out (read balcony) is connected to the bedroom with a sliding door. A small table with 2 chairs and a pair of cots are provided in the sit out area. One can really enjoy at the sit out area early in the morning when it is cool (during the summer). And during the winter you can sun bathe in the sit out area. Go ahead and enjoy your coffee / tea. Relax on the cot with a book in your hands. 7. RESTAURANT: Taj Safaris ask the customers in advance about their dietary preferences if any. And the Head Chef Ajit and team go out of the way to ensure they meet the customer expectations (My wife is a pure vegetarian and cannot stand the smell of garlic. They went out of the way to ensure that the requirements are met in total) 8. LIBRARY: Relax with a book on Nature and wildlife. Enjoy the myriad tales the Naturalists share with you about their experience not only in the jungles of Kanha but also the odd encounter of wildlife in the resort during the off season (read monsoon period of July to Sept) 9. LOCAL CRAFTWORK / SOUVENIR SHOP: Indulge in some shopping in the souvenir shop or buy the local paintings from Kanha. 10. The WiFi connectivity for Airtel / Vodafone is poor. Jio seems to have better connectivity in these forests. 11. Winters (Nov to Feb) are the peak season for Banjaar Tola as most of foreign clients visit Kanha during this period. The forest is lush green and beautiful during this period. 12. The lean season for Banjaar Tola seems to be the Summer months of May and June when the ambient temperature goes up to 45 to 46 degrees Celcius. However the sightings of Tiger is higher in the summer. 13. Thanks to Chef Ajit and the F & B team of Isha / Karan / Manoj. They were really efficient and pampered us. All our eccentric requests were adhered to and we never felt wanting for anything. In fact, we were given a surprise dinner under the starlit sky (and it happened to be a full moon). Thanks for the wonderful gesture. Every meal was brilliant but the surprise dinner under open sky was truly memorable. In fact Chef Ajit inspired us with his sharing about how he has worked extremely hard to achieve success in life as he was born into an economically challenged family. He shared that Taj supports and motivates employees to give off their best. During the dinner under the starlit sky, one of the employees. The conversation of the evening was as good as the meal - Jaya narrated stories of his best tiger sightings (you MUST ask him for his top 3! The story is as good as the sightings itself. The special cameo appearance of security team’s Shankar - who told us of the most hair raising encounter with a tiger - on foot - 6 feet away inside the resort! Be sure to ask for the story when you’re there 14. Front Desk’s Venkat Perumal displayed exemplary courtesy and hospitality of Taj Safaris Banjaar Tola. The check in and check out were carried out very quickly and efficiently. 15. The housekeeping / maintenance staff - who tirelessly answered our distress call to make the rooms cooler in the afternoons (it is blistering hot indoors in the tents during May days, so beware!) 16. The staff who ferried us everywhere - from airport to the property (Sailu), from the East Camp to the Curio Shop 17. And Sachin - the spa therapist - who gave such a good treatment we went to him on both days! Fully unexpected but totally welcome spa therapy post sarafi. Aha bliss’s 18. Special thanks to our Naturalist Jaya who went the extra mile to ensure that we not only enjoyed our safari at Kanha but also enjoyed our stay at Banjaar Tola. He regaled us with his experiences in the jungles of Kanha. And his story telling skills are excellent. Jaya is a patient listener and explains details in a clear and concise manner. 19. We had a great time at Banjaar Tola and really enjoyed ourselves despite the hot weather which was a challenge for the air conditioners at the resort!! 20. Taj Safaris & Banjaar Tola – Keep up the great work.

Excellent Food and Staff members

Reviewed By THE-RainBoy

We stayed for 2 days at Kanha resort. Called up the resort directly and made the booking - it was around 5,000 per night for triple occupancy with all meals. Wonderful value. Rooms - are basic and large, with air-con, TV, electric kettle on request.. Resort is pretty big with a pool and lots of greenery and gardens. But there was really no time to explore because of the hectic safari schedule. But BIG drawback is no fridge in room and no WIFI. These 2 are very important and basic necessities today. More than a TV, a fridge and WIFI is required in all rooms. BIG drawback this.. Bathroom - needs to be furnished. The shower is placed over the pot, a very odd kind of placement. There is no place to keep soap while taking a shower. No holders anywhere. Again absolute basic things missing. Food - Excellent! The cook Maharaj is brilliant - all the food was made exactly as we wanted, served well, tasted great, good quantity. The tea was very good. The helpers we also very good - Dhanesh who served us meals in the dining hall is super friendly and helpful, running around all the time. Lochan also very good. At reception Mr. Rishi is very good. Mr. Piyush was a lovely chap who took us for a night walk outside the resort one night. The staff and food of this property really stands out. My thanks to them. Location - the resort is about 10 minutes slow drive from Khatia gate. The gravel road leading upto the resort gate is very poor, about 250 metres.. Safari booking - book Forest permit directly on the forest.mponline website. Booking of the gypsy is a bit tricky - you can ask the resort and they will charge you 400, but the gypsy will pick you up and drop you back. This is the best option if you don't have your own transport. Otherwise, you have to go to the gypsy booking office just outside Khatia gate. For the morning safari, better go and book gypsy the previous evening itself after 6.30 pm. Take a physical print out of your forest permit. The website says e-permit is accepted, but it is not. We had a good stay at Kanha resort and thanks again to all the wonderful staff and Maharaj. It's great value for the price we paid. But the lack of wifi and fridge needs to be sorted, and the bathroom really needs a big overhaul.

Its a trap..Do not fall for it

Reviewed By TOSHNIWALYOGESH

Well, I am at loss of words to start the review. First of all, Kanha Eco Village Resort owned by Raanvara Resorts is a very old property. We had booked 4 mud cottages for 2 days. Upon our check in, we were shocked to see the cottages (even village huts would be cleaner) which had lizards, ants all over the bed. The wash room area was invaded by insects as if booking was done by them. Freeze was not working and just opening the door caused a lot of smell as if it has been non working since ages. Air conditioners in 3 out of 4 rooms seemed to be of the pre independence era. Upon insistence about all these, manager at the resort told us to wait for few minutes so that he can get the rooms cleaned which he forgot to do before our arrival and he assured us that there wont be any lizards, insects, etc afterwards. How hilarious? They have a splash pool attached to the mud huts which are non working and in absolute shambles, they had told us that splash pools are working just a day before our check in. The water boiler in the huts were so dirty that we didnt even touched it. Their whole booking process is done at Nagpur and resort guys have no authority to take a call. Manager would call their Nagpur Number for all our concerns. We insisted for our cancellation which they agreed without any refund. The nagpur booking office is managed by Ms. Simran (as told to us) who only has power to book the resort and accept money. Other than that, she will say that she does not have any authority and she also refused to give contact numbers of the management/ owners. Also, we had booked the safaris through their resort, which Ms Simran told us that if they cancel the resort booking, she would not allow the safaris; though we had paid Rs 9000 per safari (3 safaris). Manager at the resort was kind enough to accomodate us for the safaris but Ms Simran blatantly refused for it. We were told these are VIP's safaris but just as the resort, the condition of the gypsies was also below average. So, we were left helpless and we had to stay back at the reosrt. Manager changed 3 mud huts to rooms which were just OK.. Manager and staff at the resort agreed to our observations but they were also as helpless as us. Till now, the name of the owner is kept secret to us for reasons best known to these guys. Location is poor. Food is average. Swimming pool is average. No amenities. Kids feel all lost at the resort with no play area. Ambience at the resort is very poor. Dishing out anything in name of being close to nature or with nature is just unacceptable. The only saving grace at the reosrt is the staff who were genuine people but as mentioned earlier helpless. Manager at the resort tried to help us through all this but he had limited resources and authority. Then we rescheduled our stay from 2 days to 1 day. In fact, our first day was all lost in search of an alternate stay for the 2nd day. We had given cancelled 2 extra beds well in advance before check in but we had paid advance for the same. Upon check out we asked for refund. The manager agreed but said he had no money at his disposal and again called Ms Simran who told us the amount of Rs. 3000 for 2 extra beds was adjusted as cancellation charges for the 2nd day. The manager at the resort tried to convince her that they cannot behave like this with guests where there was no mistake on the part of the guests, but she again refused. She also cut our call mid way. This was the worst ever experience any one of our 4 families had gone through till date. P.S. No tax invoice was given to us at the resort or by the nagpur booking office until now, even after demanding the same. No receipt given for the payments made by us. Laws in Hospitality sector in our country should be stricter. We are contemplating legal action against the resort. If anybody has any idea on this, please let us know. For the 2nd day, we moved to Kusum Resort, which was excellent. I will write a review for Kusum resort sooner.

Long live Kanha...!!!

The jungles of central India has always fascinated me...!! The childhood stories of jungle book and Mowgli has been etched in my mind since a very long time. For most this fascination slowly diminishes as you grow older, but for few like me the jungles and the love for wildlife just grows and become a passion. Visiting Kanha and seeing its beautiful wildlife was one such tick in my bucket list. With a lots of expectations and a dream in my mind i traveled to the land of Mowgli to soak in the sound and feel of the jungle and its residences. We managed to spend close to 16hrs inside the forest and My word it dint disappoint..!! They say summers are the best time to see wild animals as the lack of water and less dense undergrowth make it easier to predict and see the animals from a safe distance and that's what exactly happened. We stayed in a cozy yet comfortable resort called Mahua Tiger Resort, which is about 4km from the entry gate. Right from the entry to exit we were well looked after with a special thumps up for the food. The Rajasthani village theme that they have is decent with all modern comforts available in the rooms. Coming back to the jungle, there are few main attractions which includes the tigers, leopard, Barasinga, which are a must have and was lucky enough to see them all during our safaris. A word of praise for the well trained and enthusiastic guide and gypsy driver who are very keep and has in-depth knowledge of forests and its wildlife. This helps them in tracking down the animals bringing the smile and satisfaction in the minds of guests. Long live Kanha...!!!
