Derby City Burgers

Though for many of our visits to PV I couldn’t imaging why anyone would want a hamburger . We’ve been coming for almost 15 years and I just thought I can have a burger at home. I will say that beef outside the USA is far superior and it tastes like it did when I was a child back in the 60’s & 70’s. Today in the USA the comercial beef is tasteless and nasty . Beef in Mexico takes me back to childhood with a delicious meaty flavor. The casa burger was really good, the fresh cut fries were excellent. We had the tea and it was delicious .I’ve gotta say that only think that could make it better is if they were truly grilled over charcoal or a wood fire . That would make them superior!!For a good burger and fries you can beat good service, relaxing space. We return again.

Joe Jack's Fish Shack

Fun, casual place with an obvious emphasis on seafood and an eclectic mix of great cocktails.

I've been going to Joe Jacks for over a decade. There are many reasons. #1 - consistently really good food. Fresh sea bass and mahi, fried or grilled Baja Fish Tacos, delicious salads, their famous Fried Shrimp and/or Fish, and if not the best, certainly in the top 3 best burgers in town with fries to match. Their fava bean bruschetta (sounds weird, right?) is one of my favorite appetizers in town. Sometimes I get that and a salad and call it quits. Excellent poke and ceviches. Their Mexican Barbecued Chicken is one of my favorite dinners. #2 Good strong margaritas. Maybe that should have been #1! #3 The friendliest most professional staff ever headed up by the amazing Jerry. Super cool wait persons. We live here and, especially when town is not packed, we typically eat here at least twice a week and never get tired of it. If you're in PV, you gotta go to Joe Jacks!

We loved going here for the excellent martinis and great service from Sebastian, Ali and Geoff (owner), who all couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. There are two separate businesses called Apache, with separate owners. The 1st night we went to the Bistro side (on the right when facing from street), and had a couple good martinis at the inside tables. We don't smoke, so didn't sit on the sidewalk. The second night, we sat on the Martini side (on the left from street). We started with some of the best margaritas we've ever had, then one of the locals bought us a shot, then we had another margarita, then Geoff bought us a shot for our 30th aniv. THEN we finally went to dinner. I am a lightweight, because I don't even remember dinner! After that night, we went in AFTER eating and still enjoyed ourselves thoroughly! I'm just sayin'....their drinks are not weak! The sidewalk was a happening place, and it was excellent people watching from the inside tables. Everyone was making new friends and street performers would come and go. Such a vibrant and fun atmosphere. Wish we could beam ourselves back down there from time to time. Loved how close it was to our hotel and can't wait to get back someday!

We have been going to 116 Pulpito for several years now. We generally go on Mondays for their Tapas night. I love their tapas! They are so inventive. We always have the sangria with our meals. Their sangria is outstanding. We love the staff there also, especially Benja. He's such a nice person! My only suggestion for tapas night is not to toast the bread too hard. I actually cut the inside of my cheek on a piece of bread (not badly). Last year (2018), I don't remember the bread being toasted that hard. With that being said, this is a wonderful, small restaurant with really good food and service.Give it a try!

We landed here on a snorkeling tour. We were part of a work group who thought they were only going snorkeling only to find we were snorkeling, then going to an Adventure park for some climbing and zip-lining (next to Mike's), then a nice lunch at Mike's. It was buffet style for our group, which was good. But the best part? Were the home-made corn tortillas made right there and cooked on a hot pizza stone over a fire. Nice spot seemed only accessible by boat.

Ocean Grill

Located in a pristine, white sandy beach cove 40 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta, Ocean Live Love Grill is a spectacular ocean restaurant, and a destination on its own. We take reservations only. It's an experience!!

Reviewed By Ambassador276670

After weeks of reading reviews and planning a great outing for our family vacation.. I was super excited to visit Ocean Grill! First, it takes about 35 minutes from Vallarta to catch the water taxi.. okay.. part of the adventure.. it’ll all be worth it.. then, once you get there.. you walk a bit of a way to catch a water taxi. There are MANY water taxis to get you to the restaurant.. you don’t have to use theirs. Water ride is about 20 minutes.. we knew this and planned for it.. Second, as soon as you get out of the water taxi.. you are greeted by someone (super exiting).. you walk up some huge stairs.. and you see a huge dog!.. okay, for those who like animals great.. even cute.. but I am deadly afraid of dogs!! Our guy blocked the dog so our group could pass. As soon as you pass through the door.. the greeter and the server.. check the clock and your time starts!Third, the service... did I mention that it was only two groups when we got there? Yup, our group of 7 and a group of 3. They gave us such a hard time because we wanted to sit closer to the view.. yes, I know, how demanding... but.. the place was empty AND isn’t that one of the reasons you got to this place? My group ordered.. as soon as we got seated.. this is NOT a place to sit and enjoy the view.. you are rushed and honestly.. made to feel like you are a bother! Food was brought (Burgers, steak, shrimp, BBQ ribs and catch of the day).. burgers were left, steaks were VERY good, shrimp (3 of them.. yes.. only 3) were okay, fish was not tasteful.. no flavor.. ribs.. only a couple of bites were taken.. undercooked and just.. bad. The only good thing we ordered was the coffee.. it was Nespresso.! While you are eating.. servers keep walking by you and basic rushing you to finish. Did I mention the place was EMPTY!? Remember the dog I mentioned.. yup.. she walks around the place while you are eating.. she came up to our table and put her head on the table (she’s that big).. and her drool was right next to the steak! Nope, definitely not okay!!! We asked the servers multiple times to please remove the dog.. and reminded them that we were not comfortable eating with it at our table. We got the same response.. we can’t move her.. she’s the owners dog and we get in trouble if we do anything.. excuse me? If I am paying... don’t I deserve to enjoy my meal and the limited time I have?... bill came out to over $360! If I had enjoyed our food and experience.. I would gladly pay that and more.. but that wasn’t the case! Finally, the beach! Remember the beach that they feature in the video etc.,? Well.. it’s a public beach it’s NOT part of the restaurant.. to get there.. you walk on a rackety bridge.. then you make your way through big rocks that you are praying you don’t fall off or loose your footing (FYI.. older folks, kids or those that are not in shape .. WILL HAVE LOTS OF TROUBLE GETTING THERE).. you make it to the beach and it’s honestly bad! It’s dirty and crowded. Ocean Grill was a disappointment! For what you spend on a rushed meal.. you can ask one of the water taxis to take out out for the day.. snorkeling, to private clean pools and enjoy a great meal..that view that you pay so much to spend 2 hours for. You can get ANYWHERE on the beach! Don’t believe the hype. Not worth it!Hola!Thank you for getting the time to review us, I'm sorry we didn't accomplished your expectations. The long review you wrote is basically the reason our regular customers come to our restaurant: the view, Wilson and the experience of being out of the city.We wish you had readen a little of our website, we mention there that we have three seatings a day, that you have 2 hours just for taking your meal, after that you can go for a walk, to the beach next to us walking ONE minute (I'm sorry but in Mexico all the beaches are public), you can go to the river, to the next beaches 10 minutes walking that are almost empty or just spend some time at our lounge... in case you want to spend 2 hours more to our next trip back to Boca.As you mentioned, yes, you can do take another water taxi, there´s no trouble for that. In our panga you only make 5 minutes to get to the restaurant by the way. But you have to be there on time, and you were there 20 minutes late and the other part of your group 1 hour late. Even so, they were welcomed and served (even we are working with only 3 seatings during almost 9 years now). The waiters normally walk around you in case they need to clean something or if you need something else, it's usual in a restaurant, we are sorry you felt rushed. You were given so many options on the seating, you decided to sit right in the corner and little tight for the big of your gruop, even we gave you our recommendations. It's a shame you wasted your time, but in our website you can find all the information of our restaurant and even we have a blog telling How to get to Ocean Grill.Best regards.
