Karakol (Kyrgyz: Каракол, Qaraqol/Karakol, قاراقول, Kyrgyz pronunciation: [qɑrɑqoɫ]), formerly Przhevalsk, is the fourth largest city in Kyrgyzstan, near the eastern tip of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan, about 150 kilometres (93 mi) from the Kyrgyzstan-China border and 380 kilometres (240 mi) from the capital Bishkek. It is the administrative capital of Issyk-Kul Region. Its area is 44 square kilometres (17 sq mi), and its resident population was 66,294 in 2009 (both including Pristan'-Przheval'sk). To the north, on highway A363, is Tyup and to the southwest Jeti-Ögüz resort.

Over all the place was very clean and the sitting area was nice.The food was normal and price. The location is by the big buss station. It's near the roundabout when you walk to the center.The owners are really nice. We talked for 20 mints in Kyrgyz about the cafe and tourism. They do not get tourists because they do not speak English. No WiFiThe bathroom is outside and not very nice. I will go back again because the owners are really kind and welcoming.

Great food served in a nice restaurant. Second floor, above the main street of Karakol, limited menu (like almost ALL restaurants in Kyrgyzstan) but good central Asian food - more lean to the Chinese cuisine - served quickly and professionally without one word spoken in English.

I have been to Hollywood twice to have a few beers with some friends. It cost 200 SOM to enter and the face control was being enforced..... it's an over priced Kyrgyz night club in Karakol. If you want to have a few beers go to a cafe in the center. I would not advise people to go Hollywood Cafe / Night Club. If your looking to have some night life go to Bishkek and have a much better time.

We visited the restaurant for our 1st dinner in Karakol. I'm disappointed. The food we wanted to try were unavailable, the services we received was lower than average. We asked some sauce for kebab and shasilik. There were 4 waitresses working there however the responses from them were slow and we were almost ignored! No acknowledgement....There are so many tourists in the restaurant so that presumably they are snobby and spoiled. Avoid.

My favourite restaurant in Karakol, very nice staff which always gave us something extra :) like fresh bread straight from the oven, homemade jam or tea from fresh flowers. The food is very tasty, especially their Lagman boso and steaks. Definitely give this place a try.

There was plenty of choice on the menu and we chose the lamb kebabs which were very good as was the service. We also had good local beer served cold in glass tankard style mugs. The restaurant is very atmospheric with delightful décor. You will have a job to beat this price in Karakol for this standard of food. All for less than you would pay for a burger back home!
