Excellent hotel to stay for exploring the Peak District

Reviewed By Sightseer01880427850

This was our first stay back at the George post pandemic and it was a joy to return. The Hotel has been superbly refurbished, the staff in all areas of the hotel were first class and the food was excellent both at breakfast and in the evening. The bar is well stocked and has the atmosphere of being in a country pub.

Idyllic stay in a shepherd’s hut

Reviewed By Emma N

We stayed in one of the shepherd’s huts which was absolutely lovely. Really nicely done inside in a peaceful setting overlooking the lawns, with a cosy little wood burner too. We took our dog and it was great for him too. And very handy having the pub right on the doorstep. Fab breakfast in the morning with lots of options, to set us up for our day of walking in the Peaks!

Excellent friendly service, good grub!

Reviewed By JohnWestbury

Called in to the Little John Hotel for a quick drink and late lunch. Bar staff could not have been more welcoming or friendly, even welcomed our little dog. A good comprehensive menu (veggies catered for), tasty hot food produced in no time. Great choice of beers and cask ales. The place was smartly presented and very clean. But best of all was the warm atmosphere and welcome.

Millstone Country Inn

Reviewed By Tour52120914323

The Millstone Country Inn is a very pleasant roadside hotel set in the ‘Hope Valley’. It’s a very large establishment that really relies on its passing trade. A very well appointed room with all the usual fittings (tea/coffee facilities, hairdryer, tv). The bathroom is well fitted out, although the shower cubicle is a touch on the small side. The dining facilities are ok, could probably do with a menu revamp, but the owner/chef has only recently taken over & is in the middle of refurbishing the complete hotel. Absolutely superb breakfast (very large portion), & a good supply of cereals/yoghurts etc. The owner & his wife cannot do enough for you & are a very pleasant couple. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, & myself and my wife would certainly come back again.

stayed 3 nights 8-10 april, was alone but had comfortable and well decorated single room, felt like home from home, safe and relaxed. Housekeeper Robert was very welcoming, made sure i had everything i needed. He was very approachable, i felt i could ask for anything i needed. as it happened it was all there. ensuite shower, toiletries and fluffy towels. perfect temperature in the room, comfy bed. i was above the bar and restaurant but couldnt hear noise. i had breakfast at the pub which was lovely, Robert made me a good coffee and im a bit of a coffee snob so it made my day, and the menu changed while i was there so i had a good choice. table to myself, lots of room. nice clean dining area in pub. safe car park right outside pub. great village with basic co-op. and lots of coffee shops, cafes and restaurants. lots of walks right from the pub. i will be going again it was so nice.

Great location, wonderful host, lovely stay

Reviewed By AkiO2

This is a spacial place - that makes me want to keep as my secret! - the location Hathersage is a great place to stay in Peak District. Easy access to other areas but quiet enough to have a mellow holiday, there are several places to eat who offer nice food. Best was Georgi Hotel. The B&B is tucked in along the side of rail way. You will hear trains occasionally but did not bother us at all. Breakfast there is famous and well reviewed already. The host Jo is a warm, kind and very informative of walks, drives, full of local knowledge. She offers just the right balance of offering good service and leaving you alone. The room was nice, clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. It has a lovely conservative area where you can sit and relax. I did some writing there looking out of the window over the garden and distant hills. I cannot recommend this place enough.
