Harrison Home Bakery is a great old world bakery. Our little city is very lucky to have our bakery downtown. Their glazed donuts are famously delicious. My out of town granddaughters have to have one of their creme horns every time they visit. One of my favorite items is the Salted Rye, terrific bread. They are famous for their decorated cakes by the sisters who grew up in this bakery.

My husband goes every morning for his coffee. They are a fun, quick drive through or small eat in donut shop. Everyone friendly. Sometimes the de-car not real fresh mid day, ask first! And wait for a full pot to brew, don't get a cup that just starts brewing. Great flavors to add to ice or hot tea and coffee. I don't like sweet drinks, and these are just flavors, not sweetened. Love Blueberry ice tea! or Coconut coffee.

Velvet Smoke BBQ

Reviewed By Denise K - Cincinnati

This place was tough to find but once we did, we found it was worth the effort. It is located in a spot attached to a BP gas station. From the access road behind, it has no signage other than from a previous tenant. My only complaint is, they need a sign back there. We tried the pulled pork sandwich and Frito Pie. They were both delicious! My adult daughter doesn't even like BBQ because my husband and I love to eat it. She loved the Frito Pie. The portion was very generous. We tried the Sweet & Tangy (mild) and the Competition (medium) sauces. They were both very good. We loved the buns that were used for the sandwiches. They complimented the pulled pork and they were grilled. It is counter service. They do have several tables to eat inside or you can do carry out. We live about 45 minutes away but we will definitely be back.

Nick's Restaurant

Reviewed By Nahmi

Just ate at Nick's with the men's group from the condo association this morning, had my usual Special (2-eggs, 4strips of bacon, hash browns w/onions rye toast w/jelly and plenty of fresh coffee), all for $7.25 plus government support. As always we were all pleased. We all generally order the Special but you get a choice of meats like sausages, bacon but if you're a goetta, you'll be happy to know you can get a real nice piece of it here. We have big Goetta fans in our group and every time we go there, that's what they get. Everything is cooked just as ordered and delicious.
For lunch, they have huge Ham and Beef Double Deckers and love the fries. Like something spicy, try their Jalapeño Burger. I have yet to have anything put in front of me there that wasn't enjoyable. Only thing is they are currently open from 8:00 (most usually 8:05-8:10 but be patient it's worth it), and close at 2:00. Give yourself plenty of time because they give you a lot of food here.

The service is friendly. They offer you samples of the different flavors in case you can't make up your mind. They offer plenty of yogurt flavors and toppings. There is also a customer loyalty card that I recommend getting. Fun place for all.

When the winery that formerly occupied this storefront died during the Obama Depression, it sat empty for a while until a mother-daughter partnership put this coffee shop in. No one expected it to survive but it has not only survived but thrived.
This is a classic coffee shop. Small tables and chairs, overstuffed chairs in small groupings for quiet conversation, plus a second room with a similar set up except there is a rear door exiting to the patio with its wrought iron patio sets to be able to sit outside. Free Wi-Fi brings out the laptops and Ipads.
They offer virtually any form of current coffee beverage, hot or cold. A small selection of baked goods is also on the bar. Wine is also available.
Not exactly what you expect to find in Downtown Harrison but we're glad its there.

Market Street Grille

Reviewed By Jim M - Cincinnati, Ohio

Market Street Grill is my favorite Cincinnati area restaurant because the menu is diverse, eclectic, relatively inexpensively priced, and the food is delicious. Before I retired, I took out-of-town business associates to this restaurant on a regular basis. Everyone raved about the food and the ambiance. Several of them have since called me back when they knew they were returning to the area to ask me what that restaurant was so they could bring their families. Sometimes the service can be a little slow, but this is the type of restaurant you want to spend time and enjoy with those who came with you. Our last visit at the end of September was extremely fast service. We were in and out in an hour. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. It is nestled in a historic small town of Harrison Ohio which almost reminds me of Mayberry.

We stopped on the way from Cincinnati to Indianapolis. The restaurant was clean. They had a nice outdoor seating area. The staff was friendly and even delivered your food to your table if you are dining in. The service was fast. This is a great stopping off point if you are traveling 74. There is a Kmart in the shopping center if you need to grab anything before getting back on the road.

The Big Greek Cafe

We stumbled upon this gem on our way to Chicago. Located in Harrison, Ohio and just 5 minutes off of 74. Once you see the "Welcome to Ohio" sign, put this place in your GPS!

The menu is fun and simple to read. The service was fantastic! Very friendly and helpful. The owner was very proud of his food and you could tell by the delicious spread ;) He was very helpful in telling us about places to see in Chicago as well as the history of the town of Harrison. It was nice to see a restaurant owner who takes the time to chat with all of his customers. It may just be a dynamic personality like that which keeps a patron coming back with so many choices of places to eat these days so, Bravo!

I had the Greek burger, it was delicious with American cheese, mustard, onions, tsatziki sauce and a Greek sauce that had a nice kick but was not too spicy. My fiancé had the traditional Gyro (he said it's the size of an infant) with a heaping mound of meat, onions, tomatoes and tsatziki sauce. They have a special for $7.00 for a traditional gyro, bag of chris and a can of pop or bottled water on certain days and times of the week (I think tues-thurs but I'm not sure now). There was a Moussaka dish that looked amazing, I'll have to try it next time.

Well worth the stop if you're going that way and we will most likely stop on the way back as well!!

Cracker Barrel

Reviewed By Sharon M - Lawrenceburg, Indiana

I have always gotten good food and service at this location. The wait can sometimes be long, but I like browsing the store.

I like the breakfast menu and the chicken n dumplings is my favorite lunch item.

I have eaten at other Cracker Barrels, and the food is typical. The service here is good. One time I left my book at the table, and it was returned by a staff member to the school where I teach - Above and beyond!

My friend and I eat here regularly.
