i was relocated with work from Feb 2021 until Jan 2022 and needed somewhere that was still available during lock down and Belton woods was accommodating workers during the lock down so i booked in there. id like to start giving a few well deserved shout outs Olivia Dickinson, front of house extremely well mannered courteous young lady nothing was to much trouble and very professional Jack Stenton very well mannered and professional young chap Georgia Wilson waitress, great personality extremely courteous polite and once again nothing was too much bother Michael Crompton restaurant manager, professional well mannered a true gentleman Harry Dobney, bar manager what a start funny entertaining and a well mannered young chap Nicky Harrison, i cant forget this lady she couldn't do enough to ensure that everything was in order and again extremely polite i hope the owner of Belton Woods reads this review as the people i have named are the future of this establishment as the owner you may look at this as a business but you can be assured that your longest resident can vouch for any of the individuals i have named they made me feel like family and not treat just like a number one thing i would add is you should have a rewards card system for residents staying and build up free stays as im sure id of amassed a large number of loyalty points over a year

Very welcoming Public House

Reviewed By 739stars

Came here a few days with a few friends who stopped by Grantham on their way to Skegness. I’d wanted to go in previously but my partner always thought it might be a ‘locals pub’ as it’s hard to see in through the windows. However, upon entering we found the chap behind the bar to be very friendly and really pleasant and helpful. The locals were also incredibly nice and everyone was having a quiet and considerate drink to see in Christmas. I’d definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone that maybe looking for a local pub around that part of Grantham.

Disappointed

Reviewed By Vanessa P

The accommodation was superb. Beautifully decorated and sumptuous beds. We enjoyed having breakfast overlooking the garden shared with 2 other accommodations! However, we went on a very cold weekend and having travelled 3 hours we were tired and hungry. When we walked in we felt that the heating was NOT at all adequate. The owner did try and put on the electric fire, but he couldn't work it, so left us! We did manage to put it on, but we didn't want to leave the electric fire on while we went out to supper in a very nice pub nearby recommended by the owners. When we came back we simply couldn't get warm and we both had to wear extra clothes on in bed. Not fun! We were very disappointed with breakfast as they had advertised croissants, but we had day old bread in a tin! The icing sadly on the cake was we were rather taken aback at being given only 1 roll of loo paper!! We would never go again and I certainly wouldn't recommend it! A real shame as it is a lovely house with wonderful converted barns, really one of the reasons we went there.

The staff are always very friendly and helpful. I have mobility problems due to arthritis and they arrange a ground floor room for me because stairs cause me problems with luggage. I stay there every time I drive to Scotland. The problem now is that the complete road closures at weekends on the A1M cause such difficulty that I will probably have to change my route in future to the M6. In March whole stretches of the A1M were completely closed (near Selby and near Peterborough) and traffic was re-routed without adequate diversions in place - it added 80+ miles to my journey and caused delays.

During the summer of 2018 The Houblon has undergone an extensive and sympathetic renovation and restoration, reinstating the historic beauty of a truly unique building. Furnished to stately home standard, the restored 300 year old solid oak beams have been joined by a solid granite wall and bar, oil paintings and antique furniture making it a truly luxurious and relaxing space both for diners and for those wanting to enjoy a fantastic bottle of wine by the open fire. Four beautiful hotel rooms with bespoke, stunning, solid oak four poster beds, high quality linens and private hot tubs make for a perfect luxurious break.

More special than ever!

Reviewed By LaurenAndAshleyL

My Fiance proposed to me here back in October 2020 and we'd had the most beautiful stay, that we couldnt wait for Covid to calm down to come back and stay again! We came and stayed in March (apologies for only just now doing our review!) and the whole experience was absolutely faultless! Nearly a three hour drive from where we live, but the distance is worth every second... Upon arrival we received such a warm welcome from the owners Jon and his wife, Vicky. Jon also recognised us as returning guests from our previous engagement visit, which made it even more lovely. Our room was so beautiful. Very spacious, spotless and with great little touches. Fully stocked mini-bar, 2 bathrooms (!), huge telly that pulls out at the wall which you can angle toward the bed... even the artwork in the room is unique! We spent the afternoon drinking from the very extensive bar, before our evening meal in the restaurant. Hands down one of the most delicious meals I have ever eaten at a hotel restaurant. Jon goes above and beyond to make sure you always have everything you could possibly need. We really felt like royalty. After our beautiful food, we returned to the room to get changed to use our private outdoor hot tub (which Jon had kindly given us a rundown of beforehand upon check-in). Lit up with fairy lights and underwater lights, underneath a wooden pergola frame, it is the perfect place to come and unwind, even if just for one night. We even had access to disposable spa slippers which we could wear to and from the hot tub area! Breakfast, again, faultless. I requested boiled eggs which is not on the menu as it is my favourite breakfast, and nothing was too much trouble. My Fiance thoroughly enjoyed his cooked breakfast too. We truly did not want to leave, and can say without a doubt that it is one of the best places we have ever had the pleasure of staying. The service and attention to detail from the owners makes you feel so thoroughly looked after and we cannot wait to come back! We'd stay for a week if we could! Thank you for a wonderful trip again, I cannot think of a more special place to have gotten engaged. We will be visiting for years to come. Lauren and Ashley
