Genoa Lodges | Places to Stay in Genoa

Wandering the narrow caruggi alleyways of Genoa is a bit like solving a medieval labyrinth. In the heart of the Italian port city lies Piazza de Ferrari, a main square with a beautiful fountain and a perimeter lined with historic buildings, including the Palace of the Doges the Teatro Carlo Felice, which was destroyed during WWII and subsequently rebuilt. The seaside neighborhood of Boccadasse is vision of pink and yellow buildings that brighten up this lovely fishing village.

Clean, New, Friendly, Well located

Reviewed By ioodd

+ Clean and pleasant. + New - the rooms are recently redecorated. The style is minimalistic and tasteful. + Friendly - The owner is always on-site and ready to help in any way he can. + Very well located to explore Genova on foot + Quiet. +- Parking - Hotel has no parking, The closest street parking that I was able to find was 400 m away. +- Breakfast - we highly enjoyed the breakfast and its location. But it is a matter of personal preferences and expectations as some other reviews show. - Access - As far as I can tell, it is not possible to access the hotel by car or if you are a wheelchair user. I leave it to the owner to correct me if I am wrong. This is a boutique hotel. Definitely not a 1* hotel as TA suggests. We needed a hotel in Genova to stay for 1 night. This ended up to be a perfect choice. I can also recommend it for longer stays, especially if you plan to go out and explore Genova. We will return here when we need to stay in Genova next time.

Covid19 cancellation

Sadly we didn’t get the opportunity to stay at this beautiful hotel. Our cruise from Genoa was cancelled and as was our flights. We had booked for 4 rooms 3 with free cancellation (pay on arrival ) one of which we had to pay for which was non-refundable. I cancelled the three rooms with Booking.com I then contacted the hotel personally regarding cancelling the fourth room, which we had already paid for. I requested due to COVID-19 if it was possible to be refunded the cost of the hotel room.I did not hold out much hope but to my surprise I received a response immediately from the hotel asking for my details for the refund to be made and it duly arrived 24 hours later. The reason for the review is in these difficult times the hotel has still been kind enough to refund my payment of the room that they were not necessarily required to do. For me this type of customer service warrants a review on TripAdvisor. I felt it was very important to make sure this gesture is recorded and mentioned so people are aware of the type of genuine establishment in Genoa that this hotel is. Thank you so much Morali Palace we will be back to Genoa when we cruise next and we will certainly be coming to your hotel

Great dedign, a bit loud

Reviewed By Nina_Black

I loved the interior, very stylish design of the room with its mix of modern elements and antique bits if furniture. Besides, the room was very large with a dining table area, tv & couch, desk and plenty of free space. it was great to have a kitchen to use which was equipped with stove, fridge, microwave. Generally, the entire appartment was very clean and well-kept. The location was great with 25min walk time to either of the 2 train stations. Communication with the owner via WhatsApp was smooth. The owner/administrator mixed me up with other guests in all text messages (with only 5 rooms to manage) and due to the reception’s working hours I never met him. According to the information sheet the bed linen should have been changed every 3 days and somebody has been in my room but the linen was not changed. The appartment is lovely but one has to be aware that you can always hear when somebody is coming in or going to the wc in the night as doors are old-style doors. They rattle and are not soundproof at all. The rooms’ curtains do not block out street light. The entrance to the house is not easy to find - I helped other guests to find the gate on the upper street level which is special feature of Genoa’s houses.

Be careful for Your money

We arrived to the hotel and the hotel owner refused to give US a room. About a quarter of an hour before 20:00 he informed me in an e-mail that the room can be received until 20:00 only. I wrote to him that there is heavy traffic on the roads and I might be late and asked him to wait for me since we are after a journey of many hours. We arrived at the hotel about five minutes after eight. Then it turned out that the address was inaccurate and the hotel owner did not answer the phones. Listed on the booking website Building 1/19 but when you arrive there is 1a / 19 and there is 1b / 19 and there is 1c / 19. But the hotel owner did not answer the phone. In my opinion this is impudence and disrespect and contemptuous behavior of the owner. The hotel owner refused to wait even though he knew we did not know the place and there were traffic jams. pure shame. I do not understand how a booking company markets such a hotel

Nightmare

Reviewed By TozziFranca

Staff are good but the guesthouse is dated and dirty. We booked for 2 nights having read the reviews and the hotel pictures on booking.com. we stayed 1 night and checked out. They also charged us a penalty charge of 40 euros each for checking out early. So our nightmare cost us 207 euros in total for a sleepless night stay.. I would stay clear and book else where. Judge for your self, check out the photos.
