Reviewed By Q393URjamesbI highly recommend staying at the Herculaneum Hotel. I was here two years ago for two weeks and returned again this year for two weeks. The front desk was very helpful, especially the manager Patrizia. The kitchen staff and cleaning staff for the rooms were also pleasant and did a great job. The hotel is located across the street from there Herculaneum ruins. It is a five minute walk from the Circum Vesuviano train which is 20 minutes to Naples, 15 minutes to Pompeii and 50 minutes to Sorrento. Ercolano is centrally located between Naples and Sorrento and is a very good alternative to the higher priced hotels in those areas. There are also several excellent restaurants, formal and informal, minutes walking from the hotel.

The breakfast is very rich, the rooms are very tidy, there is a very beautiful terrace with a view to the sea and Capri when sunny. WiFi is fast. I recommend this place, perfect location, near Ercolano Scavi and Circumvesuviana and I would definitely want to come back soon.

Worth the cost, but good with bad
Reviewed By heatherdegI will say that I would stay here again as the things I didn't like were far outweighed by the things we really loved. I can't say enough about how helpful and friendly the staff were. This was our first stop once landing in Italy and had no idea that a lack of toilet seats was common. So that threw me off. Our room was well-appointed but the bathroom (as some other pics show) had serious mildew problems. In our room, it looked like it was a moisture problem that was coming through to the bedroom wall. Not in a way that I felt we were in any danger of it falling, just noticeable; and might bother someone with sensitive respiratory issues. The room and bathroom were damp and we kept the bathroom door closed lest we smell the dampness stronger. But we really weren't in the room often. The views cannot be matched. Seriously. Breakfast was amazing every morning. Getting there took you through some recovering neighborhoods but not that felt unsafe to be in. There weren't a ton of obvious local restaurants but we didn't look very hard (we ate in Naples and Pompeii as part of our travels)

It's a villa which provides three guest rooms overlooking the Gulf of Naples. The rooms are tastefully decorated, all equipped with comforts such as LCD TV, air conditioning, private bathroom with hydro-massage shower. The property has a spacious hall for breakfast, safe, mini-bar, free WiFi zone and private parking. For the guests we arrange transfers to and from the airport or the train station and also delightful visits to the most interesting sights in the area.

Giampaulo was an excellent host, answering our many questions and making us feel very welcome with his warm nature and sense of hospitality. This B & B was conveniently located near both Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii which was ideal for us.

From picking you up at the station to driving you to Ercolano centre, nothing is too much of a problem for Massimo to make your stay comfortable. The rooms are spacious, the breakfast satisfying, wi-fi perfect. The restaurant next door is really good, well priced and extremely convenient. One of the best B&B I've ever stayed at. Grazie Massimo, ci vediamo in Australia!!

Lovely B&B, Great base for visiting Ercolano
Reviewed By LisaaavisJust returned from a very enjoyable 2 night stay at the Golden Mile. A great location for visiting Herculaneum and only a short walk to the train station. All the staff at this family run hotel were helpfull polite and friendly. Giving us good advice on local restaurants, transport and anything else we wanted to know. Nothing was too much trouble, even ordering us a takeaway pizza to eat on the terrace on our last night. Our room was very clean with a lovely modern bathroom. A typical Italian buffet breakfast was served in the bright and sunny breakfast room.There's also a lovely terrace at the property which was a great place to sit and relax with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down at the end of a busy day visiting the archilogical sites. Would definitely stay here again if we return to the area.

The hotel although tucked away was clean and comfortable and Flavia was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed two lovely evening meals although this isn't usually on offer but we managed to persuade Flavia to do some delicious home cooked Italian food. She went to a lot of trouble and we appreciated it very much. Fulvio was also very helpful offering lifts when he didn't have to, and also fed us with delicious freshly picked fruit. A darling of a man. We would heartily recommend anyone who wants a true taste of the Italian family life to stay with this lovely couple and enjoy their stay as much as we did.

Highlight of a multi-city European trip
Reviewed By Emily VWow! My husband and I booked four nights at Casa Raiola for two reasons: It was close to Vesuvius and it had good reviews. I had no idea when I booked that we had just made a very wise choice. When we arrived, we were given the warmest welcome. The hosts took our bags, showed us around, offered beverages. I wasn't expecting such wonderful hospitality, and after a long journey to Ercolano, I immediately felt relaxed. I cannot speak more highly of the people who run this beautiful bed and breakfast. Absolutely delightful and kind people. The hosts also helped us arrange transportation to and from Pompeii and Vesuvius. We are not Italian speakers, and so their guidance and help was invaluable. And they made coffee and breakfast every morning in a beautiful downstairs cellar. The coffee was so good. The place itself: Gorgeous. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom was fabulous. Everytime I showered, I felt like I was stepping into an Italian spa. And the decor and view takes your breath away. I cannot believe how affordable it is to stay here. Luxury experience at the price of a basic hotel. If you're thinking about a trip to Vesuvius and Pompeii, stop thinking about it. Just book it. Seriously. On this trip, we visited Madrid, Paris, Rome, Geneva, and Ercolano. Casa Raiola was by far the most beautiful and memorable (and cheapest, somehow) place we stayed. Thank you for an unforgettable, beautiful, and welcoming trip.

Amazing stay at an amazing property
Reviewed By James GWe don't often take time to write reviews but this one required one. The couple that own the property are amazing, nothing was to much. When we arrived there was no public transport running over the weekend due to a local festival so they gave us a lift to the local train station in the mornings and collected us at night. They didn't speak a word of English and our Italian was a little rusty as we'd only just arrived but between a translator on our phone and members of the owners family we were able to ask anything we needed and get an answer, by the end of teaching each other our Italian was much better and their English was brilliant. Free upgrade and fruit, when we arrived they told us they moved us to a bigger room so we had more space as we were staying for a long time (7days) and other guests were only there a night at a time. They also have a massive fruit garden and in the room we had a fruit bowl of all the things they grew (needless to say the fresh fruit is amazing) this was all free. The other stuff. The room was perfect very big bed and loads of storage space in the way of wardrobes, drawers and a desk. The shower was always hot and plenty of pressure, standard toilet/sink/bidet setup for the rest of the bathroom. Breakfast: Never went hungry at breakfast, had everything you would expect from a standard continental breakfast. They will serve breakfast at a time to suit you and if there's something you want that they don't have then ask and by the following morning it will be there. At night there are loads of places to eat within walking distance (max 20mins) it is on a hill and everything is down hill from the property. Be aware this property is OUT OF TOWN and you need your own transport or be happy to use buses (176)
