The Cotswolds (/ˈkɒtswoʊldz/ KOTS-wohldz, /-wəldz/ -wəldz) is an area in south central England containing the Cotswold Hills, a range of rolling hills which rise from the meadows of the upper Thames to an escarpment, known as the Cotswold Edge, above the Severn Valley and Evesham Vale. The area is defined by the bedrock of Jurassic limestone that creates a type of grassland habitat rare in the UK and that is quarried for the golden coloured Cotswold stone. It contains unique features derived from the use of this mineral; the predominantly rural landscape contains stone-built villages, historical towns and stately homes and gardens. We decided to visit Nepalese Chef for an impromptu family meal.The restaurant is spacious, but lacks atmosphere.Waiters are attentive but relatively unfriendly in their approach.Food served was (in our opinion) overpriced, meagre portion size, and not all dishes were hot.When the head waiter was approached concerning the meal quality/quantity, his attitude was a very disappointing "take it or leave it" .In our opinion as a family there are far better restaurants to enjoy dining at in the area. Where both good hot food and a warm welcome are available.If only the Nepalese chef's food were as good as the waiters outfits.

Had a meal at the spice lounge on our recent trip to Burford and we were not disappointed.The restaurant was extremely clean, a great welcome and efficient friendly service. The meal was well presented, tasty and not either too slow or too rushed, the drinks were good and we had a jug of water for the table that arrived almost as soon as we sat down.The menu was not too big although the variety on offer more than adequate and the prices about average for the area, all in all a great meal and we would surely visit again if we ever end up back in Burford!!!Dear Alex RThank you for leaving a lovely review.We are pleased that you had an enjoyable evening with us. This lovely restaurant was recommended to us by a member of staff at our hotel in Cheltenham. The food was delicious, staff were very friendly and gave excellent advice about food choices. Beautifully clean, great service and value for money. Would highly recommend.

We ordered starters & mains and taste-wise I could not tell the difference, so disappointed. Chicken shashlick & chicken biryani. Iâve had both dishes may times, they are totally different, but at this restaurant they tasted exactly the same. I left the curry and went home & made toast.I was asked if I was enjoying my food, I said no but the waiter just looked at me bewildered

First visit to this restaurant and glad I did! Great food and the owner was very welcoming and friendly. We had pani puri, chicken lollipops and tandoori chicken for starters and my wife and I were very impressed! The mains were lamb rogan josh and goat curry. The meat was tender and plentiful and the spice great. We have been to several Indian restaurants in Cheltenham and this is number 1. First visit since itâs been rebranded as Bhoomi Kitchen, and honestly apart from missing the white tablecloths and minor changes to the seating, I could not tell the difference Same fantastic food, maybe a few more choices and focus on Kerala food, same nice decor, and busy. Initially you might think portion sizes are a bit meagre, but they punch over their weight in deliciousness. The Chilli Chicken remains an all time favourite.Excellent and attentive staff, Iâll be back.

Another year, another visit to the Cheltenham literature festival, another outstanding meal at Prithvi. This has to be one of our most favourite restaurants-an Indian restaurant...that does not serve curry!!! This year we ate the 5 course tasting menu, priced at £59. Meat, fish, vegetables...every course a beautifully balanced blend of flavours, textures and spicing. Innovative, creative, a restaurant like no other... forced to choose we would eat here over Benares/Cinnamon Club/ Namaste Spice. Quite how it does not have a Michelin star is beyond me... though perhaps in terms of price and accessibility we should be pleased!

I have previously reviewed EIC and this was my third visit - interestingly following each visit my enthusiasm has waned slightly.I donât really know why either. The place is very nice, service good, food good.But I left feeling underwhelmed - we had the taster menu - all very nice. But I didnât come away thinking âI canât wait to go backâ.Maybe the menu needs amending a bit - itâs a higher end restaurant but feels like itâs mid-end. Perhaps the price needs to reflect the experience more?Anyway, I canât put my finger on it really - itâs nice, but not great, and there are better restaurants in this same range.

We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed excellent service throughout the evening. Amuse bouches were a wonderful touch with such fantastic authentic tastes as pani puri. The vegan menu was extensive and contained lots of interesting dishes. All dishes were prepared to perfection and visits from the chef to ensure we were happy was such a nice offer. Definitely somewhere unique and special to enjoy an evening with friends.
