Called in on the off chance for breakfast. Pub had only just opened wasnât doing breakfast today. So the landlord rustled me up a delicious bacon baguette and pot of tea. Most welcome. Nothing is too much trouble in this delightful village pub. Most importantly I feel I can visit on my own and not feel out of place. Having read some of the bad reviews I canât help but feel there are those who delight in pulling a new business down. Iâm telling you this pub is a treasure to the village! Thank you for your feedback. This is greatly appreciated. We strive to create a great atmosphere and environment for everyone with great food. I am glad you feel we are a treasure.. we continue daily to strive to add more gems!

This pub looks tired from the outside,but don't go by this.They have a chalkboard outside advertising lunchtime deals.Once inside there is a large log fire in a bar that again could do with a makeover but is very homely.The food was excellent with a reasonable menu that at lunchtime is extremely good value for money.The beer was well kept and food wholesome.Will certainly be revisiting with a good welcome made from the staff.

I chose the Chef's Special.......Grilled Seabass Fillet, with Thai Seafood Cakes,Beetroot Potatoes and Summer Vegetables in a lovely dressing.It was an excellent choice, so tasty and so enjoyable. It was beautifully cooked, and the presentation of the meal was so appetizing.

Popped in for breakfast (second visit). Lovely decor, if a little dark as struggled to read menu. Delightful staff. Unfortunately on both occasions the breakfasts were luke warm which makes me think that the food is cooked in advance and kept warm. I ordered a sausage sandwich and when the waiter collected the food from the kitchen the chef had done a bacon sandwich instead but this was changed to a sausage sandwich immediately, so obviously not cooked fresh. Evening Kerry, I am so sorry to hear about your experience. all of our food is cooked fresh, so we must of had sausages on the go already so we were able to get your sausage sandwich out swiftly. we are glad you loved the decor and staff :) We do hope you come back and visit us again soon.Hannah

Fantastic food! Went there for a birthday celebration, looks are very deceiving because it does look like a simple roadside cafe. Inside is clean, tidy and the cavery was simply amazing. The staff are amazing as is the cat. My understanding is planning permission has been accepted for a near 2 storey restaurant which sits 3ft 6 off the ground and will go out over the river Ouse, perfect setting, perfect food, perfect owners! Will definitely be going back.

We stopped for lunch having left the motorway services in horror landing in this lovely old pub . Itâs not haute cuisine but itâs proper hearty English pub grub at very reasonable prices.We will stop again on our next trip
