Reviews on International food in Crewe, England, United Kingdom. Crewe /kruː/ is a railway town and civil parish within the borough of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. The area has a population of 84,863. Crewe is perhaps best known as a large railway junction and home to Crewe Works, for many years a major railway engineering facility for manufacturing and overhauling locomotives, but now much reduced in size. From 1946 until 2002 it was also the home of Rolls-Royce motor car production. The Pyms Lane factory on the west of the town now produces Bentley motor cars exclusively. Crewe is 158 miles north of London and 35 miles south of Manchester.

Usually call in here for evening meal when staying in Crewe, and have always found the menu to be varied, the meals have been tasty and hot, and the deserts are absolutely delicious.

Last time we ate here it was pre-renovation and it was awful. An amazing change has taken place and the decor was amazing. On arrival we had drinks in the bar area. Disappointingly for the ladies, the house champagne has changed to a rather unpleasant sweet one so they chose a white wine and a Prosecco. Our table was in the conservatory extension which we did find rather noisy. I ordered fish and chips which I have to say was a little disappointing. The huge piece of moist fish was encased in batter which in parts was crisp and other parts oily and soggy. I asked for extra pea purée as I didn’t want chips but the extra portion was quite small and quite liquid. The beef en croute was very good as was the chicken kebab. The staff were lovely and helpful, nothing too much trouble. We were told the next day that we should have gone to the Swan with 2 necks, the sister pub. Perhaps next time but we did enjoy the whole experience of the Boars Head.

Three of us didn't book on a Saturday evening and the pub was quite quiet. Food was fine and slightly expensive for what it was. Drinks however were expensive. £4.50 for a pint of orange juice and lemonade and nearly £5.00 per pint for a lager. The girls serving were nice enough but after waiting for over 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared, we had to ask someone to do it and then ask for the dessert menu.At over £60 for three mains, three drinks and two desserts, it's not somewhere that we'll be returning to which is a shame as it's in a great setting. We usually stick to chain pubs for better service and value and this experience reminded us why we do.Hi so sorry you didn’t enjoy your experience but I’m a little surprised you found it expensive ? Our standard lager (Carling) is in fact £3.90 one of the cheapest in the area perhaps you opted for the Moretti which yes is a little more expensive at just under £5 in line with most other premium world lagers in the area. Our food offer including our supper club at £10.95 per head is also extremely competitive and set to attract those on a budget whilst we do offer of course more expensive specials cooked to order.

White Lion

On 9th January Jackie & Kevin finally left The White Lion. The reins were handed over to Jackie Stubbs, who has worked at The White Lion since 2005, so knows the place and the regulars inside out. We of course wish her every success. Beautiful country pub

Booked a large table for my mums 50th birthday and were given almost the whole conservatory, with no need for deposit! We were able to dress the room prior & provided a list of mains which were prepared and came our all together. Amazing considering it was all fresh, home-cooked food. Loved it!
