Went with group of walkers for tea and cake. A large group of us arrived (by appointment) and were quickly served. Cake selection was impressive and mine was very nice, my only complaint was that some of the others got bigger servings!Very pleasant staff, good food and atmosphere.

Tucked away and a nice menu - heavy on types of tea if you like that ...and the standard coffee options and if you want alcohol you have Prosecco - a variety of sandwiches (bagels/crumpets/muffins/baguettes.,,) salads, and brunch type dishes. Really pleasant airy surroundings and the cakes looked fabulous. So I tried the Canadian Baguette which came toasted with bacon/chicken/cheese and maple syrup) I can hear many people going ewww but trust me it works. Finally, I got to try the Carrot Cake and have to say its a winner light and fluffy sponge with the right amount of Icing.

The location is wonderful and this Sunday we counted 23 bikes parked up. Due to such a massive influx of riders the service was slow as the staff numbers were somewhat limited.However, this doesn't excuse the same disappointment that we had a few visits ago that when the coffee was served up it was not hot enough. This really isn't good enough and it was only because they were so busy we didn't complain. Chatting to other cyclists who are regular visitors, they also thought the coffee was often a hit or miss affair.Hi Paul, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we welcome all the feedback we receive as it helps us to see what we are doing well, and what we could be doing better. We have been here on several occasions. Whilst busy a lot of the time, we have always managed to get a table in the cafe, tucked down a small side street (30 metres long being small) when cafes on the main streets are full. It has a 5 star hygiene rating, and the cafe style food is always superb. Soups, sandwiches, toasties, panini, jacket potatoes with various toppings and huge cake portions, all freshly made (no I donât work here or have any contact other than being a customer). They also have a specials board. Very generous fillings in sandwiches. outside seating with blankets for the hardy and smokers. Highly recommend. One more thing..... CASH ONLY! They donât take credit or debit cards.

We only had coffee and cake here. The cake was nice. China cups and saucers, which could have done with a bit of cleaning. But the noise!!! Some of which was generated from liquidisers and coffee machines, most from people talking, it was a busy Saturday afternoon; but the worst was the continual scraping of chairs on the stone floors. May I suggest some pads for the bottom of the chair legs? Easily available from John Lewis, Homebase etc.Will opt for someone quieter next time.Dear Kim_sunseeker,Thank you for your review for South Street Pantry.
