The last time I came here the prices were absurdly set, but having noticed a reduction I thought I'd try again.Food is mixed - the salmon rillette starter was good, but the pigs 'cheeks' turned out to be a single cheek (from a very small pig I think).Mains - chinese dumplings were good, but the pork in herb consomme is a weirdly tasteless affairI would recommend booking a table at the Britannia Inn for a better value meal

A lovely restaurant with outdoor seating in a little sun trap, we thoroughly enjoyed our visits whilst staying in Ambleside recently. The pollock with chorizo mash and seafood sauce was very tasty, as was the fish pie and also the tapas. Staff were friendly and attentive and we would recommend a visit to anyone who enjoys good food.

Amazing food at Stove, nice menu selection too. I had pate and ribs and the truffle chips, really fab but ribs far too much I think a smaller portion would be fine matched with a starter first. Ambience and atmosphere was fab and we priced food for what it is.Staff we friendly and attentive most of the time however we did find ourselves having to ask for more drinks so maybe more regular check ups on diners would be good. We also found a lot of other diners asking staff for things. But this didnât change our experience overall. Overall fab though!Definite recommend!

I had fish and chips - the fish was cooked extremely well where it just glistened as you cut into it, extremely fresh and well cooked. Hubby liked his food and the real ale was also very good.Its not clear when you go in if you order food at the bar or waitress service and as there was no menu on the table, we didn't even know if there was food available. This could be improved upon but not a big deal.My only criticism is a personal bug bear of mine - I don't like food served on boards/slates or anything else that isn't a plate.

This brilliant walkers bar lives up to expectations as always. This really isnât a place for expensive jeans and handbags, itâs a place for walking boots, backpacks and wet dogs on a wet Sunday in September. Weâd booked the nice clean table in the window for 2.30pm and walked in on time and drenched having been waking all morning.As always a great lineup of local beers, gins and the rest youâd expect from an established bar.The food was fabulous and not microwave nuclear. Veggie option of mushroom Wellington for one of our party was more than good as were they all. This is a well run, friendly place serving some great home cooked food. If youâre near take the time to visit but expect to pat some wet dogs.Thankyou for you review, it gives our great staff a real boost to receive some recognition. The Badger Bar has a simple mission: proper food and great beer in a lovely setting. Nothing pretentious, everyone (and their dog) is welcome. We also have dog friendly bedrooms so you could stay longer.For anyone not so keen on our four legged friends, but we do have dog free parts of the bar as well, so everyone can feel comfortable.

After a nice morning walk this was the perfect place to stop for coffee and beers. A friendly welcome and an open fire made for a warm welcome. Good range of local beers and they welcome wet dogs and walkers.Worth popping in, nice toilets too.

We love this place, when we are at Langdale itâs so convenient and easy to walk to. They never fail to disappoint, fantastic food, great menu, amazing location and really nice staff, and really reasonably priced. They have a fantastic outside area as well. Definitely not to be missed.

I stayed with my daughter 2 days ago.We had a fantastic stay.Rooms were very tastefully decorated with lovely little touches.High quality toiletries in bathroomThe staff were very friendly and the breakfast was great, lots of choices .like the fact that is a Hotel of 2 halves.Elegant and romantic in the main house and to the rear of the hotel was a I think extension which had a cosy bar restaurant and a modern bar at the end.Also there is entertainment at the weekend in this part of the hotel.Log fires in both parts of the hotel.Dogs are allowed on request , in certain rooms.I am already planning another trip with my husband and little dog.Thank you

Visited here for a meal while on a family holiday. My mother in law wanted to eat here as she had stayed here on her honeymoon back in the 60s! Lovely staff and atmosphere but sadly let down by the food. Everything was overcooked and it looked like the mussels we had for starters had evaporated, they were the size of peas. Cumberland sausage was overcooked and dry . I had one a couple of days before at another pub and that was cooked to perfection . Such a nice pub and good reviews so maybe we visited when the chef had a bad day !!!Hi Dizzytrout,Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about your time spent with us. It is amazing to know they spent their honeymoon here all that time ago! It is a shame to see you were disappointed with the meal though. As you say, we do normally get good reviews which makes me think it is a case of a one-off bad day.
