At the foot of the Fitz Roy and Torre mountains, in the heart of Los Glaciares National Park, is El Chalten, National Capital of Trekking, chosen by hikers from around the world to perform the most varied hiking tours and horseback riding. There, right where the trails start, you will find Hostería El Puma, a pleasant and comfortable place for people who enjoy nature in an active way. The Lodge has 12 spacious, non-smoking rooms equipped with safety box, private bathroom with bathtub, hairdryer and amenities. The guest can rest, relax or read a book from our small library, in a large garden or in a warm living room in front of the fireplace, enjoying a glass of wine after a long day of hiking. El Puma has its own private parking (outdoor).

Reviewed By clared287The deluxe rooms at the back are stylish, roomy and beautifully done. The bed is huge and comfortable, lovely toiletries, including bath salts for tired limbs, a little private garden to sit out in and a sofa too. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of fresh fruit and freshly made eggs. The staff were very helpful and packed lunches were very good. It is perfectly situated in the centre of town. Really lovely hotel.

Very close to the start of both hiking trails
Reviewed By JollyshandyThe hostel is a bit of a walk from the bus station, but very near to the start of the two hiking trails (Cerro Torre and Laguna de Los Tres). It has clean beds, clean rooms and good paid breakfasts. Anna from the front desk is always friendly and helpful. I always consult her on the best time to do the sunrise hike, doable daily hikes etc and she always gave me good advice, and I got good sunrise pictures thanks to her. Breakfasts are not included, but the paid breakfasts have big portion and quite tasty. After I took their breakfasts, I had enough energy to do the long day hikes. Dinner portion is huge too, and the restaurants get pretty busy from 630pm onwards. There is a live TV in the dining hall that shows the real time condition of De Los Tres, which is pretty cool. The exchange rate offered for USD is competitive, I made the mistake of exchanging my money in EZE airport Banco De Nation, and got less than favourable exchange rate. There is no need to. Just change here will do. If you are doing longer hikes like the Huemel Circuit, you can stick an invitation near the reception to gather more trekkers if you prefer a bigger crowd. The reception can also help you arrange for remis to Hostel El Pillar or other areas. There are supermarkets, equiupment rental shops, waffles joint nearby, all walkable distance. There are also trucks selling super sweet cheeries along the road nearby, i bought a kilo after tasting them, so sweet. I like this hostel, and will probably return next time.

Reviewed By MarkC8948The owner and her son are reason enough to return. The room was cosy and clean and all our needs were met. El Chalten is tiny so all is within walking distance. If you get bored with epic hikes and stunning vistas simply challenge another guest (or the owners son) to a game of counterstrike in common room.

La cocina tiene todo lo necesario, pava eléctrica, anafe, tostadora eléctrica, microondas, heladera. Hay muchos utensilios, también tecitos, mate cocido, café, mermeladas para hacer el desayuno. Se ve en primer plano el cerro Fitz Roy desde la ventana, cuando no está nublado, el sol a la mañana le da un brillo al cerro tan hermoso que parece que el cerro tiene brillo propio. Está a 3 cuadras de la av san Martín que hay varios lugares para comer ahí mismo o comprar comida para llevar muy buenos y ricos y a buen precio. A dos cuadras hay un almacén muy completa para comprar bebidas o alimentos. Sino a 4 cuadras hay supermercados Se puede acceder muy fácilmente a todos los senderos de trecking desde ahí, que son maravillosos de hacer. Los dueños muy amables y con muy buena onda, te dan toda la info para hacer los treckings, que día conviene hacer cada uno de acuerdo al clima y las distancias.Incluso tuve un inconveniente con el calzado y me ayudaron a resolverlo con muy buena voluntad y predisposición. Un lugar súper cálido, cómodo y tranquilo para alojarse, con todo lo necesario y más para un buen y reconfortante descanso. Súper recomendable!! Gracias!

Reviewed By Aless SMyself and a friend stayed for 4 nights at Hostel Kaiken. We couldn't have asked for a better base to explore all the trekking routes around El Chalten. Jorge greeted us on our first night and was very informative. The house was warm and clean, the beds were comfortable and the big kitchen was a plus!

Great Hotel in El Chalten
Reviewed By eurotripper22Just returned from a one night stay at this charming little hotel. Spacious, well appointed room was immaculately clean, bed very comfortable and the bathroom modern. Excellent Wifi and outstanding breakfast were the cherry on top. Staff was friendly and extremely helpful in all aspects of our visit. Price is at the high end of hotels in town, but I would say justified based on room size and overall condition of facilities.

Reviewed By alitan31La cabaña es muy linda, tiene cocina con heladera y todo lo necesario por si queres prepararte algo y todo en buen estado, la cama es super cómoda, el wifi funciona de 10, tiene agua caliente y muy buena calefacción. Esta cerca del centro a media cuadra de la av principal. La atención de los dueños es excelente y super servicial, incluso nos emprestaron los palos para el trakking, Lo único que tuvimos problemas es que en el apuro querían cobrarnos las excursiones más cara, como el bus para hacer el fitz roy. La cabaña no cuenta con tv si es de suma importancia no vayas. No cuenta con desayuno y tampoco limpieza todos los dias. Nos hospedamos en la cabaña grande que era para 5 personas y el valor estaba acorde para ser dos era un poco caro.
