Tried the seafood platter, and disappointed that food was fried [like a kfc] when it was served so close to the sea. Additional, the platter was overcooked and as per other reviews the restaurant was too busy to provide a quality of service ( Staff rushing around) - In are case, the waiter to do not inform us Mango Smoothie was out of stock, and wasn't told till we chased it up once lunch was served.

My first time to go to Dumaguete for Work. We went straight from airport for a chicken Inasal. All are worth it. The tenderness of chicken is nothing to compare. They served up to two serving of rice only. Before they served unlimited rice but when there is a law when you cannot served it, this establishment follows it. Even it is not yet approved. Anyways, tried their sinigang na hipon. It's yummy!

Sans Rival Cakes and Pastries

We had our early dinner here after our souvenir shopping. The line for take out is long (I guess it always is) so we decided to just dine in the shop. We had their spaghetti and pesto lasagna platter. Both tastes good. The spaghetti was like how my mom cooked it... sweet and cheesy, pinoy style. The lasagna went with salad, a slice of cake and a drink. The lasagna was good, nice balance of pesto and cheese. The cake however was a bit dry. Not sure what the cake was though as I forgot to ask. But it's like a chocolate almond sponge cake.
We bought silvannas to bring home. Have tasted these before and indeed these are very yummy.

I think this place is mislabeled as ‘fine dining,’ and it is more appropriate to consider it a casual bistro-café. The setting is stylish, but basic and you can expect to sit next to someone that is watching a TV show on their phone at full volume. Presentation of the food is very good, but the underlying construct is lacking, without flavor and over-use of oil and salt. I found our dishes to pretty, but not really good. I left hungry and with food on my plate. The highlight of the menu was beer from an area micro-brewery with two solid IPA’s and a Hefeweizen (wheat beer).

Pasta King

A Taste of Authentic Italian Cuisine, PIZZA ALA ROMANA, PASTA ALA TOSCANA, GELATO ICE CREAM, CAPPUCCINO/ESPRESSO and a few Filipino Dishes, Seafood and Hamburger to please all palates.

Reviewed By danerobb - Alberta, Canada

Pasta King offers passable pasta with equally okay wine, decent filipina service, and a fairly pleasant ambiance that usually will provide a 'nice' dinner experience in the early evening.
That it's off the boulevard means that you don't get the romantic feeling that often comes with an Italian restaurant. The original owner was Italian who had similar in St. Louis where he got to meet the 'rat pack,' and many other celebrity diners. But when he came to Dumaguete, he was definably on the downside of a life spent harming his body. Not long after he left on an emergency and died, leaving it to his German Swiss partner. There was some controversy that accompanied all this, and yet it seems the standard of the food has been pretty well kept up.
Possibly some of the best pasta and pizza in the city, check it out, and then head to the seaside boulevard for the rest of your evening.

I come to Dumaguete yearly and always eat at Neva's once. For those that say it is overpriced... ummm, I guess they haven't been out of Phils for quite some time. For those that say it isn't tasty, have you actually eaten Greenwich or Pizza Hut? Neva's remains quite good.
However, more and more Italian places are moving into Philippines and Neva's is getting some stiff competition. They need to keep their standards high in order to survive.

This is a nice open open air bar/restaurant that is very popular with foreigners and expats. The menu is mostly geared toward them, but there are some Filipino dishes. Breakfast is available and is very good. I like their burgers and fries, and their pizza. Pasta dishes are good, too. This is one of the rare places that offers on-tap beer, but only San Miguel and it's fairly cold (but never cold enough for me, anyway.) They have plenty of other beers in bittles though. The clientele, by my estimate, is easily 90% white senior men who gather in herds a a big table. But that is merely an observation and not a criticism. They are quiet and well-behaved unless they are at the bar getting emotional over some stupid sports event on the TV. But all are welcomeat Flip Flops, and sometimes you see Filipino wives with them. The staff is, of course, entirely Filipino who do a fine job and maintain a friendly attitude. Service here is above average, as is the food. There is nightly entertainment according to their signs, but I am never when they start (I think at 7 or 8 pm.)
