Wonderful stay

Reviewed By 408charismah

Richard is an excellent host and really helpful. Always up for a chat and thinking with you to find a perfect hike with you. The accommodation was really nice and perfectly located to enter several hikes easily and next to the best pub of princetown. I also enjoyed the breakfast; it was delicious and there were a lot possibilities for personal preference (glass of milk and ommelet with good gadgets).

Terrible night with no sleep, don't book room 8!

Reviewed By Fairness4allplease

We stayed in room 8 which is next to an extractor and plant room which sounded like a cross channel ferry engine. I was assured this would be turned off at 9pm, I asked reception to turn it off at 10.30pm, it stayed on all night so we go NO SLEEP at all. The staff were all very friendly but when we reported this issue at check out, they suggested we book a different room next time. There won't be a next time, at nearly £220 for dinner b&b we won't ever be back. Very disappointing.

Good food and fab’ staff!

Reviewed By carolinebK3776KR

An after work meal with five colleagues and a little person! Staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The food ordered was reasonably priced, good quality and tasty pub grub - I can recommend the lasagne. Our server (Jamie I think) was great and made sure that we had everything we wanted and kept our little person supplied with colouring sheets and crayons. Chrissie who took our payment was lovely too and told us about the future plans for the Dartbridge - the decor might change but the staff are just fine the way they are!

I want to live here

Reviewed By Heather A

We stayed for two nights at the Globe Inn. On the first night, as we were getting ready for dinner, the townspeople and several musicians started gathering below our window to enjoy a pint and sing. It was gorgeous, we had this amazing view, and now we were being serenaded? It was too delightful. We went down to the pub for dinner - which was fantastic! - and one of the musicians came in to dine with his wife. We thanked him for the music and he told us that everyone in town had now made this a Friday night tradition that started during quarantine. Then he leaned in and said, 'You want to know a secret? Chagford is the best town in England.' I believe he is right. Cute shops, great hiking, gorgeous 11th century church. And all the staff at the Globe Inn are exceptional but a special shout out to Nick, who led us through a gin odyssey that we thoroughly enjoyed. Don't miss this brilliant little town and particularly this friendly and accommodating historic inn and pub. Great food, great company, comfy rooms. We'll be back.

Fabulous stay!

Reviewed By pollyolly

We had a great experience during our 2 nights stay with our dog. The room (bigger double) was perfectly laid out with tasteful decor and a comfy bed. The housekeeping was of the highest standard and there were many thoughtful little touches like Bramley toiletries, fresh milk and shortbread biscuits in a jar. There was a group playing music in the garden on our first night and it was wonderful to see people of all ages singing along and having such a good time. The food in the restaurant and the breakfast was superb and the staff were friendly. Lydford is a great village and the gorge is 5 mins walk away. We would happily return again.
