Cornwall Bed and Breakfast Inns | Places to Stay in Cornwall

April 24, 2023 Darleen Reid

Cornwall is the extreme southwestern peninsula of England. It has the longest stretch of continuous coastline in Britain and it is one of the sunniest areas in the UK. With picturesque villages, Celtic ruins, light blue waters, gardens and parks and unique architecture it certainly is among the most scenic areas of England. Home of many events and festivals and the land of Cornish pasty, it is definitely worth visiting.

Absolutely excellent!

We stayed at Headland House for two nights, and from our arrival to departure we were continuously taken aback by the brill hospitality! Mark is an excellent host, taking the time to speak to us and give us advice on our travels! He was so accommodating and kind, a genuinely lovely person! Breakfast was delicious and they were happy to make amendments for me (vegetarian), the room was cosy and fully equipped with everything we needed (including a daily delivery of freshly baked goods), the location is great (2 minute walk to train station which was great as driving around central St Ives isn’t something we wanted to attempt), our room had a beautiful view of the water too. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when visiting St Ives! 10/10 would recommend.

We had an amazing 3 night stay at the Sandy Duck, all the staff were so attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. The rooms were immaculate and decorated with great style, very comfy bed slept like a baby, bathroom was perfect too. The breakfast was ordered in advance at a time of your choice and freshly made to perfection- the pancake stack was delicious and on our last day we had breakfast in bed what a treat. We shall return and have already told many of our friends and family about this boutique hotel what a find!!

A pleasant seafood dinner

Reviewed By raffles7

We had dinner here with our canine chum Jasper. Yes, it's dog friendly. We both had the crevettes to start, which consisted of six really large crevettes. Yummy! Then we both had the hake and chips for our mains, followed by ice cream. All of which was excellent. All very good at a very reasonable price.

We have stayed here many times over the years and have not been disappointed, until this visit. The substantial price increase does not reflect the experience. Staff were not as attentive as they used to be, although the quality of the breakfast is still good. Time for us to look for somewhere else we think!! Such a shame.

The Old Ferry Inn

Situated on the banks of the Fowey River Estuary in the picturesque village of Bodinnick, The Old Ferry is a quintessential Cornish Inn that has been providing accommodation and refreshment for over 400 years. We overlook the Bodinnick to Fowey ferry which can trace its roots back to the 13th Century, and 'Ferryside' the former family home of Daphne du Maurier. The Inn with its relaxed and warm welcome has many traditional features including a wood burner and stone slate floor, and is full of old photographs, nautical bric-a-brac and memorabilia. The perfect place to while away time during the winter months. Our panoramic restaurant gives fantastic river views towards the town of Fowey and the village of Polruan. There are also south facing outside terraces which also have splendid estuary views, and capture the sun all day, a perfect retreat for a summers day.

Beautiful place, lovely people, fab food

We stopped in at The Old Ferry Inn at the end of our Hall Walk (we walked from Polruan to Bodinnick) and what a treat was awaiting us at this inn. Not only is it a wonderful location with stunning views, the staff are warm and welcoming. We had gone there especially for the inn's Jubilee barbecue which was lovely - beautiful marinated chicken and salmon with salad and slaws. We can't wait to go back on our next trip to Fowey.

Green Apple Bed & Breakfast

Offering great value for money in a great location! The bed & breakfast has recently undergone an upgrade to create a lovely Cornish treat. We offer a continental buffet breakfast, WI-FI, sea views, parking and a range of rooms including family rooms. We do have a garden and there is a park on across the road from us. St Ives town centre only a 5 minute bus trip away or a 30 minute walk or a slightly longer, but very attractive coastal path. A short walk down the hill and you are on the stunning Carbis Bay beach. We are also within easy access of the train station and the nearest bus stop is just across the road. We are delighted to inform you that the bed & breakfast came into new ownership in early 2013.

The perfect inn for a one night stay

Reviewed By samanthaeyers

We stayed here for one night. Check in isn't till 5pm. There were five rooms separate from the pub. The room we had was really nice, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We decided to have a meal in the pub, my husband had prawn and crayfish cocktail and I have garlic prawns. For the main my husband had the local beef burger with local cheese, the chips where really nice as well. I had a beef and ale homemade pie with chips and peas, the beef was really nice. For dessert I had the chocolate brownie and ice cream and my husband had the white chocolate cheesecake, we both enjoyed our desserts. Breakfast was nice too, had a wide range to choose from. This pub/inn is in a good location if you are visiting St Michael's Mount & Marazion town.

Excellent guest house with a welcoming host

Reviewed By BarryandJacky

Mike greeted us with a smile and we felt very welcome on entering the house. The double room was bright and clean with tea/coffee making facilities. En-suite shower was good with towels etc provided. Not every guest house offers one night stays, but Westbourne guest house was happy to have us. I can thoroughly recommend a stay here whether for one night or several. If anyone asks me where to stay in Penzance, I will be pointing them in Mike's direction.
