We went there upon recommendation from the hotel staff. The restaurant is located in a quiet side street off the main street of Chioggia. As we had made Reservations earlier in the day, we had a table outside on the Terrace, which was nice in the warm summer evening. One drawback of eating outside in the Chioggia area is the presence of lots of moscito's, so bring your spray !
We were welcomed by a friendly hostess, and immediately asked which water we wanted. We got handed the menu, which has approx 8 to 10 each for Antipasti, Primi and Secondi. No special "offers of the day" were presented to us, which later was done to Italians at the table next to us. Strange, simply forgotten or foreigners (although speaking italian) get a different treatment...? Don't know...
Anyway, we made our selection for both a Primi and a Secondi. About 15 mins later, they came back saying that my choice was no longer available, asking me to change the main course. The primi were good, the secondi were average, but not "wow".
Combined with a not expensive bottle of white wine (15 euro), we paid in total 95 euro, which I would consider high for what we ordered/got (2x primi, 2x secondi + 1 bottle of wine +1 bottle of water). Whilst we understand that fresh fish costs some money, it still remains high in our opinion. We had read that comment already in other reviews on TA too. The score was downgraded from 4 to 3 for this reason.

A very friendly waiter guided us through the available menu-stops and equipped us with a very fitting wine. The antipasto's , raw and cooked, were very nice, although the absolute freshness was missed with the raw Gamberi, the pasta was excellent and the turbot was very tasteful although either a bit overdone or not taken from unfenced territory, I couldn't decide, which means it was still ok.
the final bill was € 130 for three people, which is normal for this part of the country but left a bit of aftertaste regarding the little mistakes mentioned above, may you should invite the waiter to show you the fish beforehand, like he did at the neighbour table, all in all recomendable!

I was invited here by my friend from Chioggia for dinner. This place was terrific all around. It was elegant with great ambience. Decorated in white and filled with cat themed artwork and the place lived up to its namesake. The service was friendly and the food start coming on time. I enjoyed the appetizer mixed boiled seafood plate a lot. The side polenta was terrific as well and I am not a person who cares for polenta. The main dish was a mixed grill seafood dish which we enjoyed a lot especially the local small fish. There was only one kind of dessert that I can eat here (everything else has alcohol in it) and it was a type of mille feuille which I did not enjoy as much because it was iced with too much powdered sugar. Still the place was amazing and the dinner was a home run.

Lovely understated restaurant in a quiet road. We didn't book but got a table straightaway. The waiter was very good and the chef came to check on us a couple of times. The fish was the freshest and best cooked we've had inn a long time. I had the turbot as a starter and it was very simply cooked and absolutely delicious. My husband had gamberoni and they were amazing. Highly recommended.

Penzo is my favorite restaurant in Chioggia. It is a very small family-run restaurant. The husband is the waiter and his wife the cook. The seafood and fish is very fresh and well prepared. In May the soft shell crabs (moleche) are in season and are prepared as lightly fried crabs and moleche in soar – marinated. Other very tasty dishes are the “canestrelli alla griglia (little scallops) and grilled fish.

Trattoria al Capitello

I stumbled across this place last night looking for something authentic, away from the hustle and expensive high street tourist spots & came across this humble, modest and quiet little trattoria. Considering the central restaurants I'd passed were noisy and bustling and this place was quiet and no-frills I was hopeful that it wasn't a bad call.
Thankfully it exceeded my best expectations. Being a fish lover and speaking no Italian whatsoever the waitress couldn't have been more helpful. She translated the menu for me with Google translate on her ipad (ingenious!) They gave me a beautiful fresh mackerel pate antipasti on the house and served an enormous slate of traditional "Fritto misto" for only $14 !! Squid, langoustine, prawns, whitebait and other shellfish. I left feeling rather smug after a full 3 course meal for only $25 and the best experience I could have wished for.
I walked back via the high street where the restaurants were serving food which was twice as expensive and probably nowhere near as good as this hidden little canal-side gem :)
Please please visit this place, you won't be disappointed!

Quite hard to find, this little restaurant, with only 7-8 tables, serves mainly fish and seafood. And if you are in Chioggia, you should eat that. The dishes are quite simple and very good, and this to a reasonable price. On the contrary, the desserts do not seem so interesting. Very good and attentive service.

We discovered this restaurant on TripAdvisor before our holiday to Venice this June, and as we visited Chioggia we made it our lunchtime stop. Well worth the long walk. Excellent food, service and atmosphere, at a very reasonable price. Well up to "silver service" standard. Very impressive from unassuming exterior. It was so good it spoilt us to eat another fish meal before leaving Venice!
