Chania Town Villas | Places to Stay in Chania Town

April 28, 2023 Margarita Chappel

Much of the old town district of Chania was developed around its harbor, which was built by the Venetians during the 14th century. Its lighthouse still proudly overlooks the Mediterranean. Here you’ll find several cinemas and historical attractions like the Archaeological Museum, a collection of Minoan and Roman artifacts that’s housed in the former Monastery of Saint Francis. Word nerds will especially enjoy the Museum of Typography.

Location, location, location!

We had a visit to this hotel to see if it was suitable for our next visit to town. Having been there, we would definitely consider it as it is beautifully located right on the seafront. The views are beautiful and the staff we met were very attentive and friendly. They have a nice outdoor bar area where they serve reasonably priced and very cold beers. Combined with the view and the fact you are right in amongst all the activity makes it a solid option.

A really nice place to stay

A great location in the old town of Chania. Close to the port (shops, restaurants, cafes, lighthouse). Our host was lovely and the included breakfast was all homemade :) The air-conditioner works really well! We had a cute little balcony over one of the little streets.

Stavros Villas and Apartments

Explore the tranquillity and simplicity of Crete at our family-owned accommodation. Stavros Apartments really is blessed with everything most people look for on a relaxing holiday: long quiet beach, large clean pool, a natural setting far from mass tourism, a quiet romantic beach-terrace taverna, and yet within easy access of a nearby village. Families who have returned again and again say it is for a combination of the sense of seclusion and relaxation it gives them, safety for the children and child-friendliness. Stavros is close to Gerani village with a good variety of local tavernas, a supermarket, bakery, butcher and music bar give Gerani just the right ingredients for a villa holiday. There's just enough going on to keep you occupied but the traditional Cretan village is still strongly visible. A small seaside resort, with long, quiet pebble beaches .Gerani village are ideally situated to reach the unspoilt western coast and the busier eastern resorts.

Chilled out Beach Apartments

Reviewed By Karen M

Wanted somewhere to relax on the beach for 6 days during half term. My wife spent a while looking for somewhere on the beach and within close walking distance to other bars & restaurants, Stavros Apartments and Villas was absolutely perfect for us. As this was our 4th time to Crete we didn’t plan on any sightseeing so got a taxi from Chania Airport (30 mins not including the diversion into the town centre for the taxi driver to pick up a pair trousers before the shop shut!). When we arrived there were a number of locals there having a meal which for us is always a good sign that food will be good, we weren’t disappointed. The welcome from the owners and staff was friendly and welcoming, this continued throughout our stay. Breakfast was included in price, and despite trying we didn’t manage to finish it on any morning, extra juice and coffee were always offered, see pictures. After spending the morning on the very quiet beach with the sunbeds provided for guests, we then had a great lunch in the restaurant, I would recommend trying any of the homemade local specials. The apartment was clean with everything you would need, with two balconies so you could choose between sun or shade whatever the time of day. There were a lot of options for eating and drinking elsewhere and these were all close on well lit flat roads. Thanks to the owners and all the staff for making this a great place to stay, hopefully we will be back.

The Joy Hotel

Clean and basic, centrally located

Reviewed By AroundTheWorld108

The Joy Hotel is suitable for an overnight or weekend/2- to 3-night stay. Amenities: Larger room, balcony, basic toiletries, hair dryer, instant coffee, water (cooler in the hallway), daily housekeeping (room tidying; towels replaced every 3 days), and a terrace. Hassle-free late-night check-in, friendly owners. The hotel is centrally located within easy walking distance of old town and the beach. A major drawback is the lack of in-room safe, which added unnecessary stress to our trip, especially as the window to our room was opened daily by housekeeping and our belongings left unsecured. For this reason alone I wouldn't stay at the Joy Hotel again. As noted by other reviews, the hotel is only accessible via steep stairs, which isn't suitable for all travelers.

Fabulous stay, wonderful villa!

Reviewed By Nicola240189

We have just returned from our holiday in Villa Armi - there were 6 of us including my husband and 2-year old, my parents and my brother. Even before we arrived, the communication from Meggie and Natasa was brilliant, they made us feel like everything was taken care of for our arrival. We even had a slight disaster in that we accidentally left our baby's travel cot at Chania airport, but Meggie was on the phone to the airport whilst we were in our transfer to arrange collection of it. Natasa had supplied us with some food shopping we had ordered, plus some very generous gifts of food & wine when we arrived which was a lovely touch. They stayed in communication with us throughout the week, and no task was too big or too small. The villa was spotless and well equipped - even supplying a highchair, cot and food preparation equipment for our son. The villa itself is a short drive to a well-stocked mini supermarket and also to the nearest town of Almyrida which has a nice beach as well as a generous selection of bars and restaurants - covering traditional Greek food as well as Italian, Sushi & others. Would thoroughly recommend Natasa & her team to any group looking for a smooth, luxurious villa holiday in Crete - we could not fault their service in any way!!
