Extraordinary dinner and breakfast, comfortable rooms and a lounge.

Reviewed By rixxiVery far from Kinugawa hot spring station, 1.5 hours local bus and 30min shuttle bus by this ryokan. We went to this place for 2-days family reunion at early April. We enjoyed absolutely fantastic Japanese dish at every evening and morning. I cannot admire enough these delicious foods which are not soy-sauce-full, Kanto-like taste. On the second day, menus differed from the first day (dinners and breakfast). Rooms and the lounge are also comfy. We spent plenty of time In the lounge, enjoyed reading (as we planned), “gomokunarabe”, and free massage chair. There was also a “Shogi-ban”. Even though the snow was piling up outside, the wood stove warmed the lounge enough. The hotel stuff (most of them are from other Asian countries) work enthusiastically. We shall return!

A little nice hot-spring spa experience with great food

Reviewed By Foo SOne of the typical Onsen (hot-spring) Hotel with my non-Japanese partner to have his first time Onsen experience. It was all in all wonderful and we both had a fun stay including the yummy dinner & breakfast. Totally recommend to hire your private bathing slot for 50min if you’re couple or family staying together. The local sakes were quite tasty and the dinner & breakfast using some of local ingredients. Better be hungry as the amount of food are more than enough! There’s a heated swimming pool as well as normal combination onsen spas with good water. I used the box spa and it was quite funny but also a very nice new experience. After having Onsen time, my skin and hair were perfectly soft and glowing. The hotel offers a short shuttle ride from Kinugawa-Onsen station and probably better use this service as it would be a good 20min walk to get there. The hotel staff members were all kind with good cares. Female guests could choose one of their colourful yukata (a kimono-style PJs) and they’re all very pretty. The only down side at this hotel was that everything was a bit dated. They were all clean but some decors you don’t really wanna see in a bright daylight, to be honest. We stayed from Sunday to Monday and it was very quiet. Partly because it was an alarming typhoon weekend, maybe. It was nice because not too many tourists were staying. Depends on the price you’d pay, but I could certainly recommend this place for your first time Onsen spa experience for a night or two.

The entire building is not very large, but all rooms face the river and the creek through large picture windows. The staff was all very nice, polite, kind, friendly, and helpful. Traditional Japanese meals were just fantastic both dinner and breakfast, which you eat at the privately sectioned eating areas on the ground level. Hot spring bath was cozy but clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed this inn. The only thing I want to warn is that this inn is not located in the center of the hot spring village, and you need to get on the bus for a few stops unless you have your own car.

Best lobster bisque we ever had…creamy with large chunks of lobster in it. The Filet Mignon, Tenderloin, Lobster tails and South African Lobster Tail was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. Not lost were the sides too…probably the best Au Gratin potatoes I’ve ever had. Dessert was fantastic too which we weren’t able to finish due to being so stuffed from everything we had prior. Can’t comment on the wine selection as we didn’t order drinks but it looks like they had a nice wine collection.

While this meal was more on the pricey side of what we normally spend when we go out, I knew what the prices were going to be before hand and I thought everything we had was reasonably priced for what we got.

This is a destination restaurant – if you let it be. Order the exciting items, not old mainstays and you’ll be impressed. The service is very polished and they pay a lot of attention to your overall experience. Sit in the bar room if you can. Reservations strongly recommended. Swordfish is amazing.

Welcoming atmosphere, nice service, huge selection of dishes and a great variety of beer choices if you’re into that. I had the Kale and Roasted Brussels Sprouts Salad with Shrimp and I can’t wait to go have it again! Yes, the salad was THAT good! The Buffalo chicken wings had great taste, though I prefer the skin more crispy.

We ate here for Father’s Day and enjoyed our server and food. Our complaint was there was no air conditioning and it was hot. We were told it hasn’t been working for a few summers. People, including wait staff, were fanning themselves to try cool off. I have asthma and the heat made it harder to breathe. No one in my family enjoyed themselves with sweat running down our faces.
