Il Borgo B&B

In the heart of Roero, between sweet hills mantled of vineyards, recognized as Unesco World Heritage, rises Castellinaldo, an ancient village castled around its massy medieval castle. Between the old streets you can still breathe the passion for land and wine that, today as in the past centuries, inspire lives of village and its inhabitants. In this suggestive frame blends perfectly the hospitality offered by “Il Borgo” Bed & Breakfast, a rustic surrounding in which you can spend the night in a peaceful nature, in perfect privacy and relax enjoying the wonderful panorama offered by the hills of Roero and Langhe. The cured restructuring has kept entire some characteristics of the house that believe the importance that it had for people in the village. Most significant example is the oven: historical traces dated it back at the second half of the 16th century, when, named “oven of the community”, was built with the contribution of some aristocratic families and was used by farmers’ families of the village. Historical finds, discovered in the old archives of the castle, tell that, in 1742, Castellinaldo’s parish priest, complaining for the bad conditions of the church, blackened by the smokes of the oven, ordered its closure. At the second floor, you find the 5 rooms, each one of these paired with the name of a typical wine of the region. In the rooms, warm and pleasant, the modernity of comforts fuses with the rusticity of interior decoration and wooden balconies, where sight soars on hills and vineyards. For longer overnight stays and for families, you could benefit of an enchanting independent apartment. In the breakfast hall, room originally used as cellar, you can enjoy a very rich buffet breakfast with cold cuts and cheese, bread and sweet-smelling brioches, marmalades and jams, milk, coffee, tea and various sweetmeats. In our bed and breakfast you can buy typical products, some of them served for breakfast. The same hall hosts the wine bar and the wine shop, other services that you can find in our house.

Very good value for money family style B&B

The house is nicely renovated keeping its original charm. The rooms are comfortable and offer a splendid view over the vineyards. We enjoyed the rich breakfast on the terrace. There are plenty of private parking spaces and the wifi is excellent.

Nice location, but...

Reviewed By miganz81

We stayed two nights and had one of the new rooms opposite the street. Really nice rooms with a nice view over the vineyards. The breakfast was good aswell. (For the accomodation we would have given 4stars.) Its a family run business, but only the young dauther speaks some words italien, so if she is not around its hard to ask for any information or even do a checkout... We did aswell a winetasting at their home, but were surprised to pay 20euros each at the checkout (we were not informed about that), even though we bought some of their wine. This doesn't show what we got to know in a lot of other places around and was not the qualtity you could await for this amount...
