We went here on a recommendation. The service was appalling, the wine was undrinkable and the food so salty we simply couldn't eat it. I think this is the first time we've ever walked out of a restaurant hungry. To add insult to injury, it was quite isolated and we had to travel through several narrow lanes in the dark to get to it! Sorry, won't be recommending this place to anyone.

Stand out dishes were the appetizers. We went ala carte and were not disappointed. Beautifully flavoured gnocchi with truffle for me and dish celebrating the flavour of local sausage for the better half.
Lamb to follow. Reminiscent of moroccan flavours and well served with imaginative vegeatable side dishes.
Lovely family atmosphere and good English spoken.

If you are visiting Puglia, you must make time to dine at Birreria Felix where you will find not only great beers but gourmet fast food at its very best. We are addicted to the LUX burgers and fat chips topped with crispy bacon - sooooo good!
It is also a great spot to escape from the summer heat as unlike most places, their air conditioning actually works!

We found this restaurant by chance and were not disappointed by it. It was full of Italians (no tourists) and the food was genuine and delicious. There is no menu, so we started with the antipasti and then took some pasta. The antipasti della casa are composed by about 12 small very different dishes (fish, meatballs, vegetables...). The pasta was excellent (but what else to expect in Italy?). Good food at a reasonable price (79€ for 4 persons including some wine).

At Pizza&Spaghi, as the name say, you can taste really good pizzas and spaghetti, the two most famous Italian foods :)
My suggestion is to try their spaghetti with lobster and tomato...
If you don't like pasta, you can have any kind of pizza you can imagine!
For starters we took a good "impepata di cozze", an hot dish of mussels cooked with tomatoes, a little bit of onion and pepper.
Alessandro, the young owner, is really kind and professional, just as as all the waiters.
Quality food and reasonable prices... The restauran is always full. I suggest to book a table in advance.

Good pizza, nice atmosphere, and friendly staff. A local lady at the Tabacchi across the street recommended this place to us and said it was very good; she wasn't wrong!

The local historian of the seventeenth century is pleased to welcome guests with a wide range of bruschetta prepared with the bread of Altamura Dop.
A really great place for singles, couples, families and anyone. The owner has a brilliant story and passion for food, wine, people and places. A very modern and welcoming atmosphere. Owner speaks English and Italian.
A real Italian meal made with heart and local ingredients.
A large variety of food although just advertised as a Bruschetteria. There are three different pasta dishes each day- although not on the menu can be asked for. Great house wine also.
Thanks for a beautiful end to a lovely trip.

Finally returned to Anne's Place in Monopoli, and was able to take them to a restaurant they recommended, and it was a great place to go. Set in the countryside outside of Castellana Grotte, its a big villa in its own grounds. We ate on one of the terraces behind the villa. Greeted by friendly staff, who were attentive without being intrusive, we took the antipasta della casa and it was brilliant. Followed by seafood pasta and a beautiful piece of beef, served with new potatoes and grilled vegetables. The house red was excellent. A small shared desert, coffee and a grappa finished the meal off.

We went to Masseria Papaperta for the reception meal/party of our nieces wedding yesterday. The location is fabulous - lovely open countryside, great views & the stunning backdrop of Tulli style buildings. It was an ideal venue for a big party - there were about 50 of us! The informal layout if bales of hay to sit on for the welcome drinks & canopes was lovely. Then the (very!!) long table for our meal was beautifully decorated, the service was excellent - very friendly whilst also being efficient! The music provided by the band was top notch & the DJ was really good too!
I can't recommend it highly enough !

This is one of those restaurants that favours decoration over service. Yes it is a beautiful garden, yes it sits close to the Grotte but that is all.
We waited ages just to get our menus and there were people standing up to go and get them themselves.
After finally ordering our food (2 burguers, 1 Sandwich and 1 toast-we chose simple things because we had already been there so long) we waited over an hour for our food to arrive. The sandwiches were fine but one hour apparently was not enough time to toast two slices of bread.
If you want to get to your tour of the caves on time, eat elsewhere, there is plenty of choice around.
