Excellent service. Big plate of meat and the best provaleta that we have ever had! Great wine options. Everything in BA is reasonably priced, even in high end restaurants. We had a free glass of fizz and the digestif are super sized! Really nice lunch in nice area.

I dined here twice in 4 days during my visit to Buenos Aires August 18-14, 2019.I arrived into town late and the reception at my hotel in San Telmo directed me to this restaurant. I went solo and was greeted by a friendly waiter who was the owner's son. He recognized that I was struggling with some of the Spanish descriptions and spoke to me in English in a kind, friendly manner.I ordered the "Bife chorizo", which is the standard Buenos Aires steak, and a large green salad with chicken. The meat was excellent and the portion was huge, enough for three people. I was happy to be able to get a large green salad as well. The salad has lettuce, spinach, and beautiful sliced red tomatos.I ordered the flan for dessert and it was sweet and flavorful.I went back two days later and Marina, one of the family members, was the server. She was friendly and helpful and we were able to chat about the neighborhood and the family business. It was a good experience! This restaurant is classic corner bistro with great simple food. The decor is wood and simple but attractive Argentinian dining room. The ambience is low key elegance, no frills, but cool interior. There are many "tourist" steakhouses to visit in Buenos Aires, and in the Centro, and San Telmo areas. They are crowded and expensive and hurried.Javi's is laid back, friendly, classic, and the kind of place that you want to give your attention to. Nice people and good food!

Did what so many others do, try it once and because the food is excellent you return. The steaks are great, we went with the chorizo and also tried the flank steak which was superb, tender, juicy and full of flavour. The baked vegies are a nice change if you want a vegie hit, it's more like a ratatouille, rustic fries are great too. Staff speak English and they will also provide you with a menu in English.Price is very reasonable and as the open at midday, you can go anytime in the afternoon till late at night

Wonderfully varied and thoughtful tasting menu. Very reasonably priced by the standards of equivalent European Restaurants. Definitely worth a Michelin star IMHO, perhaps two. If I’m allowed a quibble it felt a bit rushed, and food could have been explained in more detail (but Sommelier irreproachable). Presentation delightfully (to my taste) un-pretty.

Simple decor, attentive servers, gracious host, interesting but not remarkable food courses, however the dominant memory is the overall low quality of the wines. As visitors to a place known for its wonderful wines we really expected a more refined and generally better selection paired to the various food servings. Definitely not a recommended spot for good quality wine appreciating people. I am very surprised by the high rated reviews this place got from TripAdvisor members...

The Fogon experience is excellent! The staff take you on a journey through a traditional Argentine asado and explain the cooking process, the ingredients and the history as you enjoy the meal. The wine pairing is carefully thought out - I would recommend the Premium selection! The food itself is delicious and abundant. The restaurant is set up so everyone is circled around the grill in the middle which makes it easy to speak with other guests which I believe adds to the experience. You will leave the restaurant with lots of new information and a full and very happy tummy!Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are delighted to see you enjoyed your evening with us. At Fogón Asado we aimed to create an experience that would closely resemble the asado tradition of Argentina whilst still feeling indulgent and elegant. We wanted to combine the social aspect of asados, often missed in many restaurants, and the typical cuts with a modern twist and feel. Our goal is for our guests to enjoy themselves, eat some the best meat our country has to offer and, hopefully, meet new people, for asados are always best enjoyed amongst friends and family! We always take great care in the preparation and presentation of our dishes, we love sharing our culture and introducing new people to this wonderful tradition of ours. We hope to welcome you back soon, Kind regards The Fogón Asado team.

I stopped here for lunch on a hot day exploring Puerto Madero. The restaurant is situated right on the marina and has plenty of tables inside and out. I arrived quite early so had no problem getting a table, but by the time I left it was clearly very busy. The staff were great and service was good throughout. Cold beer and a fantastic flatbread 'pizza' really hit the spot.
