Creeksea Place Barns

Very enjoyable spontaneous break at Creaksea Barns

Reviewed By DPGA12

We booked the Fisherman's Lodge at Creeksea Place Barns as a last-minute AirBnB weekend away. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and check-in was no hassle at all. The site is set in a beautiful area, a short walk away from the Burnham marina and rolling Essex countryside. The spa and gym are absolutely lovely - a brilliant addition to our stay! We have been to a few B&B / exclusive rentals, and we have never seen facilities as good as this. My partner especially enjoyed sitting in the hot tub watching all the dogs run round the fields opposite! The Lodge is perfect for 2, and is very well presented and is comfortable and tasteful. The exposed beams really add to the experience and add a certain presence to the stay. We enjoyed a breakfast and lunch at the 'Parlour' café next to the barns, and the food was good, but the highlights were the milkshakes! Very highly recommended. We left the barns with a few constructive comments to the host, who took this gratefully and gave us full confidence that they will do everything they can to continue to cater for guests' needs - really great to see. We have recommended a stay at the barns to friends and family, and can imagine we will return in the future.

Worst experience ever !

Never have I experienced such rude and ignorant staff !!!! During a lunch visit here recently, i went to the bar to order food etc. the whole time I was stood there I had to listen to a member of staff (which I later find out to actually be the manager) talking about her personal life to another member of staff. Took ages to order as she kept stopping and talking. Once I’d ordered I went back to the table to sit down, within seconds I find myself on the floor as one of the chair legs broke away from under me. No one came to my aid they just stood there looking at me from the bar. After I called out asking is anyone going to come over once I was back on my feet, I was told that when she’s finished serving someone’s lunch she will be over. Eventually she came, said I’ve no idea how that happened. Picked the chair up and walked off with it. After complaining by email the manager lied and said I was offered an ice pack for my back, which was a lie and I have a witness to prove it. The staff were the most miserable and unprofessional I have ever come across. I lost a days work as my back was so painful the following day I could not go in. They need new staff, preferably with a personality, because the ones in there at the moment are deff in the wrong job. It’s also not nice at all having to listen to the manager shouting at her dog either. Such a nice old pub, but let down by ignorant rude obnoxious staff. We will definitely not return, and I suggest anyone thinking about going should avoid doing so. You would be better off in MacDonald’s ?

Night in Burnham

Stayed at this quaint b&b for one night at the weekend. We were welcomed by the owner shown to our room that was clean and comfortable. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room and the en suite was fine as well. Breakfast the next morning was served up in the dining room and was fresh and tasty, we would definitely stay again if we were in the area .

The Ship Inn

We have three boutique en-suite guest bedrooms available for our visitors. All our rooms are beautifully decorated, with comfortable king size beds, and premium Egyptian cotton bedlinen, just what you need for a good night sleep. Each room has been individually designed and no two are the same, so why would we resort to giving them mere numbers – ours have names!

Room Good, breakfast deal poor, shower potentially dangerous

Reviewed By sailorman2

Stayed two nights in September in Petticrows. The room itself was fine although the bathroom could do with a coat hook or two, and there was nowhere in the shower to put shampoo etc. Also the shower was difficult to adjust and it was possible to get scalding hot water out of the shower head - DANGEROUS. Breakfast was supplied as a takeaway from the coffee shop down the road, with a limited choice - no cereal or toast on its own was offered. It also turned up 40min late on the first morning.
